New Feature Proposals - Art and other various featurs. (Not related to combat, RVR, DLC or Economy)



Please post your ideas related to ART, Texts, localization, and other issues not related to RVR, Combat, Economy and DLC proposals. 

Standard rules apply.

Please propose your ideas in the following way.

  • 1 Post = 1 Proposal.
    • Players will vote on 1 proposals only. Multiple proposals will mix different subjects and confuse.
    • Multitiered or multi subject proposals will be removed.
  • Keep the proposals on the topic subjects
  • Do not comment. The thread is for proposals only
  • If you want to improve on other people proposals contact them so they can update the post. 
  • Best proposals will be brought up by the system based on likes and we will comment on them once in a while. Proposals which dont get community attention will be ignored and will sink to the bottom.

When pressing F at open sea to open "Fleet", i would like to see a thing, that shows what kind of books you have applied to the current ship.

Example: a player might forget if he has marines or some gunnery book applied. Then when at sea, he can only know for sure if he gets into a boarding, i which case he will die.

Proposal Category: User Interface

Proposal: Player-defined ship tags

Reasoning and detailed description: When having several ships of the same type with different builds, it is impossible to see which ship is which without hovering over the ship and checking the stats (woods, upgrades, etc). It would be really helpful for going into action quickly to see at first glance which ship is for what purpose. For that reason I propose that players shall be allowed to define tags for their ships to describe them in short words (maybe limited to ~15 characters). For an example see the attached edited screenshot below.
Players who dislike descriptive tags could also use the tagging feature to give "names" to their ships (Intrepid, Interceptor, Dauntless, ...) to differentiate them while improving immersion.

Possible negative consequences: None, if the tags are player-specific and not transferred upon trade/capture of a ship and the character limit is not too restrictive.

Estimated programming effort: I assume pretty low, a few hours maybe. Might be more, depending on how much in the UI needs to be changed to implement the feature though.

Additional info: The tagging interface can be opened via the right-click interface of a ship. Additionaly the tag could also be shown in the ship pop-up right of the ship name (between "Indiaman" and "Standard"), this is not necessary though.

show the nation flag (navy flag) in open world.

selectable country flag (player) as national flag.

slightly bigger flags on the ship.

correct streamer (pennant)

admiral flag (when reaching the first admiral rank)

clan flags (royal standard) - for example navy flag including the clan tag name

"People Log" for clans.

It would be like a "resource log" and "money log".  This log would show who joins and who leaves the clan. This would be useful for large clans. For example, I noticed that there were 234 people in my clan a few days ago, and now there are 232 of them. I don't think that any of the important people left, but still, it's a little interesting.

It will be easy to see which players joined and who left the clan.

A ships log that exists for the entire life of a ship which contains:

Total km sailed

Total battles

Total AI sunk

Total Players sunk

Total reals traded

It would be great if more detail about individual engagements or even Captain’s own notes but that would probably be too database intensive.

Graphics option: More Crew on Deck [ more crew on guns ] [ crew member on steering wheel]  

At the moment ships have like 1 crew member on half the cannons on the ship.

 it doesnt feel like you actualy sailing a ship with 500 crew members

the decks feels a bit empty and we dont have a crew member on the steering wheel either  wish the ships where a bit more lively 

now it feels so empty is like they all below deck with the surgeon

Various fleet compositions

   Not good right now:

     All fleets have the same rank ships

    Trade ships are never in convoy and never have escorts

New feature:

   Mix up fleet compositions

   Multiple trade ships

   trade ships sometimes have warship escorting

When you have fleet ships, make the option to send all fleet to dock available, and have it as an option where you are teleporting to another outpost.

  • The rationale for this change is I get very frustrated that I haven't just got an option to send fleet ships to dock all at once, instead of individually clicking on them to do this. 
    For example, another player is getting attacked, valuable seconds are wasted having to individually send each ship to dock, this is also the case when teleporting, as you get the notification that you have ships still in fleet, but not an option to send fleet to dock and carry on with the teleport.
  • I propose that a new button is implemented in the dock screen, where you can send fleet ships to dock at the same time, and when teleporting with fleet ships, when the notification comes up advising the player that they still have fleet ships, an option to send the fleet ships to dock and carry on with the teleport.

    Also, when leaving port, when you have a fleet ship, you get a warning letting you know you have a ship fleeted. This option can be toggled to show every time or not.

  • Accessible by ESC menu
  • Including per page a illustration and text ( both already done for item info UI ? ) for ships, plants ( wood types ), Caribbean map regions, nations, etc ; descriptions and artwork.
  • Benefit - all in one place ( with awesome illustrations already done ) and maybe even use the UI mouse over links as a option to open Encyclopedia and see the item with added information.

Hotkeys/shortcut to open fleet ship holds in harbour and at sea.

Currently you can open your hold to see what's in it or unload it by clicking the 'H'-key on your keyboard. 

However if you want to open the hold of one of your fleet ships, you have to click 'N' for Navy and then click on each ship and then on the icon of a barrel representing hold. Or at sea you press the F-button and then scroll to the fleet ship in question and click on the picture of a barrel. 

This is a lot of clicks for a simple action, and notably quite a lot more elaborate to manage fleet holds in port than it used to be with the old UI, which had more overview as well as requiring fewer clicks for these actions. 

The new UI is of course a lot more beautiful, and all we really need for it to compete with the old one in practical usage is a hotkey for hold 2, 3 and 4 as in the respective fleet ships we can have.

Simply put:

New Hotkey 1: Opens the hold of your first fleet-ship

New Hotkey 2: Opens the hold of your second fleet-ship

New Hotkey 3: Opens the hold of your third fleet-ship

Should work in port and at sea.

Default hotkeys for opening holds could easily be H - J - K - L. Adjacent buttons on qwerty-keyboards.

Features ingame that require you to claim it before server reset is auto claimed at reset sending the items to the redeemable section for you character. This is to prevent unfortunate happenings where you wont make it back to port before reset, or some RL stuff shows up forcing you to "give up" those rewards that day, which again doesent give a great impressions to this matter.
