  1. Just an idea- but during the age of sail- men did not like to sail on ships made of teak- due to the increased chance of infection from teak splinters during battles-And the higher mortality rates. It would be interesting to have teak ships negatively affect crew morale.
  2. When Buying/selling things in port shop- lock the scrolled position in place instead of starting back at top of list and scrolling down again.
  3. Wind direction indicator when in port. So I don’t have to pop out to check then back in.

  6. Why not just another check box after you board the enemy- that says something like “ransom is accepted” that releases the ship back into the OW with minimum crew onboard. So the trader has to negotiate the ransom and submit to being boarded.
  7. You can take an exact bearing by drawing the line with your compass on the map. You can therefore very specifically communicate your position to anybody. If a noob gets tagged and doesn’t know where he is- it’s because he’s a noob.
  8. just change it for the British nation- for US it’s spelled correctly. Spelling wars- I like it.
  9. Why not have a Chinese topmast pennant that could be added to any nations ships. We could preserve-somewhat- the historical aspect of sailing in the Carribean during this loose time frame of late 18th -early 19th century. Since Poland is a dead nation- why not make that a pennant and sure --Canada too.

  11. What about in battle with a player? Does the battle pick up where it left off?
  12. its been a while since it happened. What happens when you are in battle and maintenance starts and shuts it down? Do you restart in OW or in battle?
  13. yes- problems all day- I heard in TS of players not being able to log in and waiting queue of 75 players +. I'm stuck in loading screen right now. When I was playing earlier today- there was quite a good bit of lag as well-- more than usual. Have DEVS commented yet?
  14. Of course you can find some NPC's somewhere on the map at all times- my point was that you increase NPC's when population is at 200 and decrease NPC levels when population is at 700. Not sure if its easy to do or not.
  15. There are times of the day when the population is low and its hard to find a player to fight- would it be possible to increase NPC traffic at these times to give us something to fight against? Maybe even mix up NPC ship classes more than usual? If I log in the last few hours before server reset- sometimes I can't find any NPC's or players-- and I either log off or fall asleep. To have things to do during slow periods might aid in player retention or encourage players to log in at off times for a different experience. I am not sure if this would be difficult to program or not.
  16. To be able to completely destroy individual nations would be a bad idea. It would cause many players to stop playing or quit completely- remember when the US got one ported at CT a while back on the PVP 2 server? That was probably the low point of the game for many players and it nearly wrecked the game. A better idea would be to add certain incentives for players to switch to weaker nations. We would have to work around Alts exploiting it - but maybe weaker nations defenses could be strengthened by buffing forts - adding additional towers, guns etc. Or there could be a bonus to the weaker nations ships or guns when inside the port battle? Many are worried about the Russian zerg but for the most part I think its being self regulated by the players themselves so it doesn't wreck the game? - I guess time will tell.
  17. I have deleted contracts before just for the reason Sir Texas mentioned above. We can only have 10 contracts out and I was buying reps, never filled,- had no OP there, needed room for more contracts in a different port and just deleted the unfilled ones. You lose the money but save a long sail just to cancel. It would be better if the "cancel" label was just changed back to the "claim" label, the way it used to be- I believe.
  18. Time to fully unbox my Indiaman so I can fight my way back- sounds like fun. Can’t wait to try it out.

  20. I had always spurned the use of the sextant perk as unnecessary- but now that I have it, I might not want to give it up.
  21. Another example of how the BR roe is an annoying mess. Let’s vote on what the length of a simple join timer should be - and go back to that.

Tonight before server reset (5/1 @ 5:08) a French Alt in the US nation opened multiple hostility missions for San Mateo for the only purpose of allowing French clan WO to enter instead and run up hostility and set PB at Mateo. This is an exploit and is using an alt to run up hostility in contrast with the stated rules and allowable uses of alts. Please investigate the player who opened the the hostility missions for a foreign nation. The PB should also be cancelled.
  23. Isn’t having a 20 minute join timer diminishing the importance of wind even more while exaggerating the effect of OW time compression? I think we must choose the lesser of two weevils.
  24. this game will live or die based on its ability to balance historical accuracy with fun and playability- we have been close so many times to making this a great game and somehow always manage to over-correct and take a step back. Maybe listening to the vocal minority led us down the wrong path- who knows. If there would have been small changes over time it would have been better-- but Devs were always insistent on trying something completely different. i will continue to support this game and play until something better comes along (it will). Will this ever be released or is this a gaming experiment to make ultimate admirals a better game? Only time will tell-
  25. total BS that you can lock the rest of the nation out of a battle right in front of their capitol port. New ROE is the worst decision ever by the Devs-- getting locked out of the battle while you watch the enemy join is the opposite of immersion. Total fail. Why make this game more like the arena game, that spectacularly failed, is a reason I can't understand. BR limits and trying to balance the battle is a game killing idea.
