Internal Clan Leaderboard.

Similar to the Clan Leaderboard, but containing only players from Your clan.

Rationale: This could promote internal competition, as, for many clan members, appearing on the global PvP leaderboard is not achievable due to time they have available for the game (that global PvP leaderboard is basically for hardcore players :) ). Also, this leaderboard would be weekly-based, not daily-based, as the global leaderboard is.
Such internal competition would hopefully increase amount of content, by giving people one more reason to do PvP (or PvE, shall they want to compete in that :) ).

Clans could then promote the most active players by rewarding them, therefore triggering even more players to join the competition which would, again, render more content for others.

This is, how this could look like:

x3c0BHB.png

Depending on the possibilities, the list could be restricted to top 10, although top 20, would be better and all available members - the best. Either way, Your own statistics should always be visible there, even if You don't fit into the TOPxx, so that You could always measure yourself against others (just as it is with the global PvP leaderboard).

-Properly scale port buildings. Reduce their size, add more trees and vegetation, add more buildings only in capitals or larger ports. Add variation.

-Add port sounds when docked, people working, whistles, wood creaking, forge working, metal clanking, seagulls, crows sounds, bells, soldiers marching...

Proposal for Trade text channel in open world

Hello everyone, This proposal is for improved Trade text channel as well as the implementation of a Trade text channel in open world.

Rationale & Problem

Currently, the text channel for trade is global where sometimes it is quiet or there is a conversation going on. Normally, a player would post something like:

Quote

WTS: Copper Platting La Tortue PM

And if the chat is busy, it gets pushed up and the seller would sometime make multiple spam of it.

While you are sailing, there is no proper channel to view trading or post things you want to sell, so global is the best place to put  it. While you are in port, the trade channel would look something like:

Quote

Player A: x
Player B: x

These channels are instead place to "x-up" so they can be traded. There is very little sale going there.
Additionally, sometimes the global is filled with so many players selling items that the chat becomes very clogged with conversation and sales.

The Proposal

Here is how I would propose the improvement to look like ^^

For normal item trading

  • STEP 1 Looking at select_channel.png  while in open world, you can open up the trade channel like any other channels.
  • 948797360_selectchannel.thumb.png.d38e887ef061022d51aa7524cfa13820.png
  • STEP 2 : Right clicking on the chat box opens a list to "Add Listing" as shown in Step_2.png. No chat is allowed in this channel.
  • STEP 3 : A menu looking like the "Add Contracts" in port will show up and you can select to Buy List or to Sell List.
  • STEP 4 : Chose the item type and the name of the item. The item list will list everything in the game that can be traded.
  • STEP 5 : After putting your price and quantity, select "Add Item" button and it will compile the list as shown in Step_2.png.
  • STEP 6 : Select "List Item(s)" and the clerk will compile the listing and put it in chat as shown in Result_1.png
  • 1449254579_Step2.thumb.png.c5b5ad71a4742b7130fe45faa1777d4f.png

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For ship trading

  • STEP 1 : Open Navy and right click the ship you want to list as shown in Step_2-1.png. This can only be done in port and only for selling.
  • 1844089485_Step2-1.thumb.png.5260c901b8895c65da2ac520053edbf2.png
  • STEP 2 : A pop up window appears with basic details of the ship and asking you to list the price you want to sell as shown in Step_2-2.png
  • 989571087_Step2-2.thumb.png.0bc20af2092909ec37f513aaf6594981.png

The Result

The end result looks like the images Result_1.png and Result_2.png below. The interested player can right click the player name and immediately PM them for inquiries ^^

Thank you for reading my proposal ^_^

Daily redeemable ship (removed at the end of the day) for each player with a daily chest reward for something easily attainable for all players (variety of PvP and PvE mission types, both combat and trading). This would motivate people to get in ships on the open water with no fear in 4th rates and below, especially in underused, and shallow water ships. Potential scenario:

Cerberus Admiralty Assignment
Mission(s):
Sink 1 enemy player in equal rated ship or greater (1 Gold Chest)
Capture 2 LGVs (NPC or player) (1 Silver Chest)

LGV Admiralty Assignment
Mission(s):
Smuggle 200 coal and 200 iron into enemy port (1 Gold Chest)
Smuggle 100 hull repairs into enemy port (1 Silver Chest)

etc.

Players with sextant (or everyone whatever works) should be able to set way-points on the map, calculate distance and be able to navigate better using the map. Point and click with the protractor is good and all that, but having more map tools available would be a nice addition imo. Auto pilot in the OW in the form of following said way-points could also be a  thing.

Fix battle instance map issue, after sinking.

Currently, when You sink, the map interface is broken and the click hit boxes are misaligned making it impossible to click on ships on the map.

The issue is presented on the video below:

Add all the stats from ships to the UI so they are visible in game.

https://na-map.netlify.app/ this site plus the spread sheet from the new woods patch show a bunch of stats that are not visible in game. I think it's time to add them in. Many people, specially new players don't know about these resources and have no idea about those additional stats or that ships have different sailing profiles.

We need some different phrases to be displayed during loading screens. It's a bit obvious that some of it is taken straight out of Pirates of the Caribbean...

Some tips would be useful for newer players, or maybe some famous quotes from real sea captains.

Some sort of Admirals flag visible in Open Water and Battle Instance applied to ship of group leader. To save server load it could be limited to larger squadrons (5 or more?).

Names and Clan Tags will come back to open world

  • Useful for Peace server due to international alliances
  • Important for hostility countering in open world combat

Just to avoid in PVP server hunts at players,  i suggest just to see only  in OW the clan of the Enemy Ship, not the player name

Example:

A spy tells at enemies that Player One is leaving Aves with an indiamen full of permits, or is leaving Truxillo with hulls filled with LO seasoned woods ..become more easy to find it.

For Alliances the clan is the thing we need, player name is not needed

Gun ports closed in Open World sailing.

Ships' gun ports are closed, rather than open, in Open World sailing.

Currently, ships' gun ports are open when sailing in the Open World. Normally, while cruising, a ship of this period would have its gun ports closed to prevent ingress of water (which could ultimately cause sinking, e.g. Vasa, 1628).

Default ships' models to closed gun ports during Open World sailing. There could potentially be an animation to open them (i.e. running out the guns) when you enter the range circle for the battle instance, but this would be a bonus rather than necessary. Gun ports should, of course, be open in the battle instance.

Wind boosts as zones rather than clickable icons.

Current issue: Lack of immersion and players within the same 'wind zone' having different wind speeds. Wind boots applying way beyond activation area in all directions. (again lack of immersion)

Propose to make Wind boosts into Wind zones (alike to pz) players get the speed boost as soon as they enter the zone without having to activate anything or click on anything. Some zones can be smaller and some larger. Could all be circles or even other shapes.

Sea Trials / Testing Room

Just like we have the ability to jump into any of the exams/tutorials at any time, what if there was a similar "room" that we could jump with the ship we have selected and just do some sea trials!

We could test our speed, reload, manual sailing, repairs, boarding, anything pretty much while being able to jump out at any given time.

I´d love to see a more nautical map! The one we got is beautiful too look at but lacks "professionalism" :)

Distances in nautical miles and not in km

Compass rose divided in quarts (360° / 32), like in an historical compass rose:

Give new players 50 000 reals for each tutorial completed. (not for the exams but for the starter tutorials)

Just so they have some starter money for guns and repairs before they can manage to complete the exams. They can't afford anything great with that but it's enough to remove some 1st day frustrations of not being able to afford anything at all, even some medium guns.

improve clan interface.

displays and keeps track of:

when clan was created

when player joined

their rank

Clan information for  players outside your clan:

you can look up clans and see who their creator and diplomats are, along with players numbers and creation date of clan. right now you have to make clan, add them to friendlist to see just creator and member count.

I am now exclusively a PvE player, and speak as such. I strongly feel that the following six improvements would massively improve the game:

1) Make the climate resemble that of the Caribbean. (Make the sea bluer, greatly reduce the length and frequency of storms, and give us proper sunshine, instead of this gloomy North Atlantic look.
2) Be more generous with the loot found on NPC ships. Too often, one defeats an NPC SOL, only to find a few sail repairs, or a Loki Rune or a Ship's Logbook on board (all of which are practially unneeded in PvE).
3) 4) Rethink the crippling tedium of seasoning woods. It shouldn't take many (if any) tools or LH just to place wood in a seasoning shed. It would mainly just take time to season wood. It wouldn't be so bad if a ship built with (S) woods was sure to come up as a 4-slot or better. When it comes up as a mere 3-slot ship (which is most likely), all that grueling effort, accruing the (S) woods, is pretty much wasted.
4) Let admirals continue earning XP, but allow admirals to convert them to LH, CMs or doubloons.
5) Give us flags in the OW, and at least a couple of crew members visible on deck. OW flags were implemented beautifully in a similar game: "The Pirate: Caribbean Hunt".

6) Reposition a couple of the Patrol Events, in PvE so that they aren't such a waste of time.

Also: Please use proper nautical terminology, and call the "map" a 'chart' (or 'sea chart'). And why not make it look like an authentic 1790s one (see pic).
