Patch 10.4 Conquest changes, Battle Groups, Wapen von Hamburg (III)

admin

Recommended Posts

I had 170 conquest marks that were converted to 1700 combat marks in redeemables.  I redeemed them and my 300 odd already existing combat marks were moved to my warehouse, and I only had 1000 combat marks in chest.  Net result, I LOST 700 combat marks due to the 1000 cap in Captain's Chest.

Please fix this.  Looking forward to testing the rest of this patch.

I have some concerns regarding the new Battle Group mechanics. As I understood this is being brought in to stop part of a PB fleet being dragged into battle, but there is no limit on the number of Battle Groups that can be formed. So for a 4th rate port battle the attackers set up their 25 man Agamemnon Battle Group and head off to the PB, the defenders set up a 25 man 1st rate Battle Group of screeners. Now if the 1st rate BG manages to tag the 4th rate group it becomes a one sided battle. The screening BG can only be tagged by a fairly large group due to their high BR.

So basically for attacking a 4th rate port the attackers also need a 1st rate screening fleet, this is not going to work out too well for smaller nations who can only manage to muster enough for a PB fleet.

On the other hand it may make for some interesting screening battles of 25v25.

Agreed, 1st rates dont belong to 4th rates ports anymore. Like someone mentioned before a new shallow area where only 4th rates and smaller ships can enter would be great.

Who's the ganker if it's 1 vs 40? This is a good change for solo hunters and PvP'ers like me, Luquicity, Zooloo, EliteDelta and more.

If you are in waters that are not yours then why should you be able to run away from a nation working to secure its waters.

Exactly my idea, however I feel screeners already had huge fleets to match the PB BR rating, so that doesn't change.
You needed a high BR anyways to tag a PB fleet. So smaller nations didn't have screeners anyways.

I believe it will even things out and make the screening battles a tad more interesting and ballanced.

So if the smaller nation has no screeners in a 4th rate battle they will be unable to stop their PB fleet being tagged by the defending BG of 1st rates.

-Nothing to improve OS travel and cut time

-Nothing to Make Crafting easier and ships cheaper

-Nothing to reduce Grinding time sink in this game

Good patch, but you are just feeding those who are still playing (small pvp crowd). New players require attention. We are still going down...

Because you weren't caught on the open sea.

Good day Captains

Patch is being deployed to live servers

What's new:

  • Conquest mechanics changed.
    • Conquest marks converted to combat marks at 10 combat per conquest mark
    • New mark added - Victory Mark (pve server will receive a combat mark to victory mark conversion)
    • Victory mark will be granted for map wins (not port battles) using the legacy system (old control will move to the next round)
    • The whole nation (captains who logged in during last 14 days) will receive a victory mark if their nation wins the map
    • Map is won by the nation having largest number of conquest points.
    • Points are received from 3 sources:
      • port control - nation gets 1 point for most ports, 3 points for important ports:
        • Santo Domingo
        • Cartagena de Indias
        • San Juan
        • Port au prince
        • San Iago
        • Morgan Bluff
        • Vera Cruz
        • Campeche
        • Nouvelle Orleans
        • Bridge town
        • Road Town
      • wins - nation gets 1 point per win
      • losses - nation loses 2 points per port loss
      • This reduces the incentives for port trading as you lose a lot more points by trading ports
        • Current map win cycle is set at 1 week for testing

Not at all, just widen the net a little. It doesn't change shit.

Have you tried it? 45 sec and full speed and even more into a decent wind actually helps a lot. I tried it already

so you should be able to go to another nations area hit a target and then run without the chance to be taken out.

Player found and hit target without escort on open sea (or possibly in a mission, but that is another topic).  This means they had to spot and catch them on open sea with opportunity for target "in nation's area" to utilize all the benefits of the area (friendly players, ports to enter, forts, mega AI fleets).  Why does this deserve inescapable punishment?  Why was the target without escort or help in the first place if they are "in nation's area"?  If they were alone with no possibility of help and no warning of the hunter's presence, it sounds like the nation is exerting poor control over this area.

Another issue I can foresee with the Battle Group mechanic that favors larger nations is that commanders of the defending screening fleets will divide their ships up into Battle Groups with enough BR to tag the PB fleet thus making it difficult for the attackers to clear the way for the PB fleet. The same would work for the larger nation attacking screeners who will have enough screening BG's to occupy all the defenders screeners or at least all the defenders who could engage the PB fleet.

I think there will be some interesting tactics to be used, but I guess in the end a lot will currently use the tactics used at present to avoid screeners altogether.

45 sec is long. But trust me, a decent revenge fleet still gets you.
It evens it out a little at best, gives the runner a more fair chance of escaping for sure.

but this increase the ALT abuse mechanics.

winner nation will be the nation with player with more alts...they put them in enemy PB reducing number of active defenders, port conquered, enemy nation lose points not for skill but for tricks, game broken, population under 100 pax...

What happens if you have a 25 man PB fleet Battle Group and there are already some people in the PB? Do the ones that get left out still have the same protections as they had in the BG or is the BG disbanded once people enter the PB or is entering the PB like leaving the BG so the ones left outside are in what is now a reduced BG?
