Thats easy to say but said trader dont even understand simple things like dont sail to island harbour there were 3 pirate suprises spotted you can be shure that in the next 10 mns someone needs help up there ... and you expect them to ask for a escort ... wich they will then do in nation chat wich means they also can announce their position in global.

But then you get PVP and you escorted your trader. That's totally win win.

If your having that much trouble then you are doing it wrong.   This isn't a simple game of checkers anymore. It's chess now. We have to think moves ahead.  If you grind in a cutter just enough money to buy a frigate and arm it and then go PvP you are likely going to be miserable.   Trader brigs are good haulers as long as no one is hunting that area and it will carry things as large as a 100-200k textile mill.  But a Trader Lynx can still carry 500k worth of Rum.  Ideally you grind out NPC traders till you get 100k starting capital.  Then you trade or farm more NPCs to get up to about 300-500k.  Then you put that money in your bank and never spend it on PvP. You use it to make more money. That more money you make is what you spend on PvP.  So when you take a loss you already have that starting capital so in a few hours you can replace all your PvP stuff.

I'd say watch the contracts (no one ever does) and see what goods are in demand and fill that demand. Play the market right and some days you won't even need to leave port to make money. Just let the contracts and your crafting hours do the work.

Also I do 'emergency crafting' for small clans that typically come up short when they're crafting. While they're checking off the list of things needed to make a ship, they let me know what they're short on and I go get it and craft it into whatever they need to finish the ship. It's just like delivery missions only it's player-generated. I charge for that service, but when you really need a ship finished that day, I can make it happen.

There's plenty of ways to make money in this game. (and just as many ways to lose it, lol)

I feel rig and hull repairs need to be available from ALL ports for a reasonable cost. currently its just another time sink trying to find a port with some available when you are away from the capital...

and dont reply with there is a niche in the market for some crafter :) that niche can remain once you make it so that crafting them is reduced and they can compete vs the port stock.

That's good advice.     Chess is my game.

well, to compensate that we have polar summer nights at tropical latitudes.

And a sun that rises due east at 1:50 in the morning rushers to south in a few moments only to hover due south for several hours before it finally sinks due west at 22:10.

needs getting used to.

Realism of outcomes, not mechanics.

If the day weren't longer than the night, 50% of battles would be night battles.

I noticed that I took rigging damage from fire after the last hotfix. Sailing in a Pickle caught fire and lost 25% rigging, going into rigging shock. Anyone else notice this effect?  I know fire damage to sails was mentioned by admin awhile back but didn't know it was implemented.

Yah it's been in game but just depends on how bad the fire is and where it's located.  Sounds like you light up pretty good than.  Just be glad it didn't make it to your mag.

I did not doubt this and I accept it as being necessary for the game mechanics, although, from time to time I wish for longer nights. Especially in a trader in hostile  waters.

The common Pvp system is broken For a single or small group.

I am a pvp player since the beginning and for me the common status of the game is un playable as a pvp player.

The impossibility of attacking someone with the same BR or more and being able to have a 1vs1 and not end up with a 1vs6 or more is just encouraging speed fitting only and not anything else then fir/fir. WHO CAN SAID A SAME BR 1VS1 ITS NOT FAIR !!!

Secondly i am very happy that player cant stay in battle screen for ever or just log out but knowing that and just giving 30 seconds of invisibility to someone who come in the ennemis water and taking risks to do so is just to short for me 1 minute was fine and at list was giving both side 50/50 change to be catch up or caught by the revenge fleet.

This problem lead to the fact that a revenge fleet can tag you for ever with out any change what so ever to just be able to log out for the night. i was tag 7 time the other day and finaly die because i was running out of repair. or another days because i couldn't be able to escape in order to log out so i had to die.

Hope you will undertand that this problems lead disgust player from pvp and so i know some who already left the game and that will not come back until changes.

I am about to do the same.

Adding guns to AI traders? The hello kittying over of the noobs continues.

This is what is called making the game "challenging".

It allows the weeding out of the unskilled casuals, the non dedicated slow to learn and the non hardcore players from the get go. In other words getting rid of the "undesirables" of some sorts. We don't want any riff raff!

This game is reserved for a select group of players, the ones born to play hardcore games and NA is one of them, this is not a Hello Kitty game.

end of sarcasm!

Is anyone having fun anymore? I'm not. Big grind for money, nothing to trade, no traders' ships to buy. And some twat caps your traders. Getting really boring now. Battles are about  sail damage and how many times you can repair. And now the old bugs that the devs thought too trivial to bother about affect the game play. I could not join a battle after sailing 45 minutes with my nation because the crossed swords would not reveal a join area - a bug that should have been fixed months ago. This game is a waste of time.

Being a connoisseur of fine sarcasm as a means of change, I have to say, this ranks with the best.  Until I read the fine print, you had me.

Too bad it's all too true and falling on deaf ears.

Yes, I am... when I play any game but this one.

So how many tens of thousands of people should be wanting their money back? No one ever said when I bought the game that it was made only for those who love boredom and repetition.

It's Sunday early evening in Europe and there are only 600 people on. None of my clan are on, nor have they been in numbers greater than 3.

Let's go back to late 2015-early 2016. I remember enjoying myself. Now, I have no idea how to get out of a cutter, without winning 100 missions at 3,000 a go--not an easy task, and thoroughly boring. I've lost more money than I've made. And one dura ships are not a happy event when you lose one. This game at the moment is not worth any money at all. We should be paid to play it!

The beach was awesome and the barbecue was perfect. Too hot now, indoors, but later one will be nice for a after dinner coffee in the plaza :)

Oh, and there was some naval action at the beach with some dozens of sails making a course at large. Very nice and relaxing and imagining they were circling a battle site waiting for it to end.

I have been playing NA since Dec. 2013 and think this last patch is going to make me stop playing, one thing is I play alone a lot, so I play missions. I wish you did not change them, Now I have to fight with a ship of my class way?  If I am in a ship of the line let me fight a brig if I want or fleet of brigs.  No I have to fight a 3rd rate.   also way take the longitude and latitude off the game map, all captains had a sexton to find there position on the map.   I was in a mission and was boarded and lost my Surprise so now I am back to a basic cutter and now I will have fight for a couple weeks to try and get gold to buy a new ship.  I know one durability is realistic but this is a game, 2 durability would be nice. I have to agree with fox2run.  I did get my money worth from the game.  You people at NA did a great job on the game but now I think you are going in the wrong direction. One patch to many.

I noobed out and got caught by the last ship in a fleet battle. NPC boarded me and took my ship in the first round. My mistake ofcourse, but haven't logged on since then. Couldn't bother the grind again. Game is waste of time now, impossible to play and test it without wasting hours on something you will eventually loose sooner or later. WELL DONE @admin!

@Thomas Sailaway @DrZoidberg and others..

This comes down to dont sail what you cant afford to replace.  I know it sucks but that is the nature of many PVP MMOs dating back to Ultima Online pre-Trammel.

I lost a Navy Brig the other night to a couple of players, was I mad, no I actually was laughing about it.   But I understand how people could get mad.

And money isnt that hard to get, even with out mindless trade runs, just run 1 fleet mission or hunt an OW NPC trade ship.  You can easily make between 10-100k on one of those.
