  1. This is awesome, but I have to throw in a word of caution: If Alpha has taught us anything, it is that unrestricted RvR is bad for the playerbase, and harmful to the losing nation's community. Blockading and conquest of Capitals will have an impact on people who are not wholly active in RvR.. and I bet that is the majority. Personally, I can get behind the anything goes approach, but at the same time I worry we will play an empty game Winning a map reset needs to come with spoils for the loser as well, like a massive penalty of some sort for the winning alliance in the next round.
  2. Do you have a friend on Steam that you didn't have before? (serious question)
  3. Since this is about creating DMZs : if the Florida Keys are the only problem between US/ES.. put them under control of the Danes|Dutch|French|Swedes?
  4. The word 'exploit' is simply flat out wrong here and tarnishes the argument, it isn't an exploit in the same way that setting PB timers that suck for the enemy is not an exploit. It is using the game as designed, as has been stated several time by admin. Maybe there are better ways to do it, and I'd be behind any sensible proposal but any change would need to take into account that NA is very time consuming as it is, and it is still a game, some people seem to forget this sometimes.
  5. Finally, some light at the end of the tunnel! While DOG is my witness, I am more than happy to see an (in time perhaps even amicable) agreement with the Spanish, any agreement without accommodating the US is impossible. I don't want to be too negative about it, but one issue on the ES/GB treaty is that it only allows for relatively few PBs, and cuts out the other nations. So.. why not have Haiti/Hispanola as RvR island? Every nation gets 1 port that is off limits to get flags, the rest is free for all. It's in the center of the map and pretty much everyone is already there anyway.
  6. From the Patch 9.93 thread: I'm not a specialist by any means, having the shed is probably not wrong but it spoils the looks. Afaik the "shed" was only supposed to be there in peacetime, and would be removed for war, so either decision is probably correct. There are depictions of the ship without them, but you can easily find lots with it. Here are a few without: And the best one yet - this seems to have been done when the ship was still afloat and not from heresay: Sources: http://www.naval-art.com/bucentaure_art_prints.htm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_ship_Bucentaure_(1803)
  7. Oooh.. if you really add leeway later on this would be huge. Is there a chance of being able to set individual sails at some point?
  8. Mugeres/Conttoy are the closest ports to the Spanish Capital. From there to La Habana is 35 minutes at 15 knots. The ports of the proposed 'shared buffer' are much closer to the British Capital: Portillo to Kingston is 25 minutes, and our reaction time would be even less for Santiago. If we were to agree to your demands for the ports on the Yucatan this would mean even more than those 35 minutes - we would be out of striking distance of your capital but you remain within reach of ours. There needs to be a better compromise than that.
  9. Yeah I noticed this too but forgot to F11 it - once you relog your rank is updated correctly.
  10. Why show up at all if you don't want a deal? This circle of mutual disappointments needs to be broken.
  11. You are probably right.. and it's the same with the bigger ships that don't have bow chasers (Belle Poule, Essex, Pavel..) It is such a big drawback when you have to run down ships.. so much so that many beautiful ships won't get sailed. Problem is - there really isn't any space on the Privateer model to put that chaser cannon. Shots coming from an invisible "virtual cannon" might do the game mechanic part but are cheesy also
  12. Yes, you are wrong again. It happened to Sweden (and arguably France) first - done the Danes. But, don't let this get in the way of your irrational hate for a Toon Faction in a computer game and keep projecting every evil in this world on the British.
  13. I hope that every RvR participant has learned by now that reducing a nation to one part is terrible for the game. That includes reducing the Pirate Nation to their capital (if - big if - their opponents actually have the means to do so).
  14. De Zeven Provinciƫn - for when Brigs just wont cut it in shallow water PBs
  15. The creators of the game cannot define what is an exploit in their own game? But you can? If the thread was called "02-06 timers are lame for eu players" then you would have a point, but this.. well your nick seems to have gone to your head, just like my earlier post has gone over it, Caesar.
  16. How often do the mods have to respond to this before you finally accept that you are wrong?
  17. .. t'is but a funny thing.. The reason we are at war with the Danes is because we honoured our (then) alliance with Spain and tried to help when they (Danmark/Norge) invaded Puerto Rico.
  18. While it looks awesome.. they don't seem to be getting most of their propulsion from sails..
  19. CeltiberoCaesar is now arbiter and judge of what is a cheat and exploit in the game? All Hail Caesar!
  20. I still think the Mortar Brig should have buffs to fishing builtin. You know.
  21. Y'all don't rubbish me doghouse says I ! Still think it would be neat if there wasn't one on the ship.
  22. Thanks for the video! I think she'd look better without the "outhouse" on the poop. Afaik these things were supposed to be removed in wartime? Nevertheless I am looking forward to sail her, thanks to the modellers and GL folks!
  23. It is silly to blame Vicious for the pop drop. Evidence: PvP3 is closed and PvP2 almost dead - no SORRY clan operating there. At some point, limitless RvR becomes boring. Maybe Vicious can understand the 'useless' TDA and TF folks a little better now These things come and go.
