  1. This is insane. We had word from some PFK guy that the Dutch may want peace. Since we didn't know if he was talking for the entire nation (and all Dutch clans for that matter) and how credible the proposal was Ragnar popped into the DAS TS to verify what was going on. Since a ceasefire (or peace) negotiation is a matter of all allied clans/nations I was waiting for confirmation that in fact such an advance had been made in earnest by the Dutch. When Ragnar came back and there was no there there I didn't even bother wasting our allies time with this. Today I have to read that we asked for a ceasefire? If the DAS leadership actually thinks we asked for a ceasefire this is either an amazing case of selective perception or an intentional intrigue. If this is propaganda, fine, but please don't waste our time with useless errands and just make it all up.
  2. This question has been brought up before and the ruling was that it is ok. There is no duping in the sense that the player granting one of his durabilities will also lose a 'life' on his ship.
  3. kranick, we had open timers and it was terrible.
  4. There is a bit of irony embedded in having to fight over whether we are at war or not.
  5. I do agree with you on your first point (resource price = ship price), however, you kinda answered yourself why you only get a few bits from breaking up: At some resource price point you'd just vacuum AI ships from the open sea and break them apart. Unlike regular resources where you have limited supply and therefore demand/supply = price the AI bot factory is boundless.
  6. There are screenshots of larger forts in the making. They are all bigger and more terrifying than the Martellos we have now. Poor wooden ships.
  7. Best of luck Game Labs! The game is a winner, let's hope there is a market for it on Steam
  8. Yeah you should be made aware of if you are about to be put into an instance by a third party.
  9. I like that idea! There are many different flags that would make sense for each nation during this period.. (Dutch with orange instead of red, red Ensign for the British (in pre-1800 flavor and post), French flags [White, White+Tricolore] and many more) Maybe national flags and signals could be purchased for $$$. No pay to win there.
  10. The plans and stern picture of the model is not the Victory from 1737 (which sunk 1744) .. it's probably "our's" from 1765 earlier in her career. The 1737 ship looks like this (note the 4 decks stern gallery): She would make a nice addition however.. premium ship material
  11. I think the system is good the way it is now with one change required: Tags on AI or third party ships should not drag somebody in if his BR would refuse a direct tag. The BR diff system is actually working - a cutter cannot drag a SoL into battle by tagging it. This would mean that a hunting pack of SoLs with a tagging frigate need to loosen up their formation to let themselves be dragged in. Once they close ranks they are immune. A PB attack force needs to stay really tight.
  12. In the context of a PB I would not consider this to be griefing - they are trying to split the attacking force which is fair enough in my book (but they shouldn't be in denial about their chances of actually endangering a Santi, especially in the hands of a veteran captain) What Johny Reb said makes a lot of sense: with a port battle in play I propose we consider this legitimate. So if your nation attacks a port and you are sailing within reinforcement range of that PB you are valid target for any shenanigans. If there is no PB near - this should still be considered mild griefing. There are two elements of tagging: A cutter can not drag a first rate directly into battle - the BR diff system works in that case. The BR difference even works for tags Santi on Santi (we were able to test this yesterday - balticsailor was unable to drag me into battle when i was planting the flag) provided you are in close vicinity of more friendly players. The distance for the BR system to deny combat are very small, however, but I think this is ok because it forces the attacker to sail as a cohesive force and if they make a mistake the defender still has options to drag the flag into combat (which happened a day earlier to us - well played defense) The only untested question is what happens if two forces bring full 25v25 complements - will this guarantee the defender can prevent a port battle from occuring and in turn make the port de facto uncapturable? The second unresolved issue is getting dragged into combat by AI tags, or defender vs AI tags pulling the invasion fleet in with him. This needs game mechanic changes imho because there is very little the attacker can possibly do. My proposal here is that if you are in close vicinity to a PB flag you become immune to any tags as long as the BR diff and range requirements are met.
  13. It pretty much is griefing because they are wasting your time.. if it had been an isolated incident I'd say it is not kosher, however, with a PB in play I think it becomes almost acceptable. Their tribunal case is laughable though and they should be fined for wasting the courts time.
  15. The only solution that I can see to make skill matter more without disfiguring current combat mechanics is to simply create more 1v1 opportunities rather than awkward attempts to make 1v3 winnable. Reducing battle entry timers in OW would help. A lobby system where you can see what you are up against would help. I do not believe in the premise that 1v3 odds should be made winnable as there has to be at least an option for players to protect themselves from dedicated lone wolfs by sailing in convoys.. much like in reality.
  16. You mean they would have been defended like Les Gonaives?

Please don't make something like XVM possible, it would be toxic for the community.
  18. Well you picked a good time to start, history will start afresh soon enough
  19. .. or do what every nation back in the day did after the war was over: send a few diplomats.. maybe the enemy is not that evil after all
  20. I quite like the idea You venture too far into a storm in OW - now you're fighting for your life on an instanced storm map.
  21. In summary Basseterre, Charlestown, English Harbour, Kingstown, Bridgetown, Saint George's and Rosaly get magically transferred to the Dutch. Vile Brits are evil conquerors when they respond by taking Dutch ports few days later. Epic Outrage. Just don't do it again after the wipe.
