I'm still not entirely grasping how you set up plans for a ship in Blender or any other modeling program. None of the video tutorials really show how this is done. Any assistance?
-
Hey Bungee, I'm at a point where I want to attempt modelling again, any vids I should watch? I don't think I saved anything from before except blueprints.
-
You're using Blender correct? I've had a lot going on recently and have had to shelve any attempt at starting 3d modeling. That being said, I'm hoping to get started sometime soon, but am unsure which program to use. I've got access to Blender and the 3DS programs atm.

Neptune-Class Second Rate Ship of the Line
Haratik replied to SirSamuelHood's topic in Ships of the line
For a second I thought you were showing us an ingame model of her. Damn you! -
Certainly very similar in appearance, but if you look carefully you can pick out some differences in the design.

'Wapen von Hamburg' (III) German 3rd Rate Konvoiship

There's a chance she can be useless in the current meta, but be seen almost exclusively in merchant convoys as an escort, no? Wouldn't be a bad idea to see older ship designs in use as AI escorts. -
She looks a bit flat in the front, much like a barge, no?

'De Zeven Provinciën' Dutch Warship 1665 (With plans)
Haratik replied to Jay Gatsby's topic in Ships of the line
Really loving those pics Steel! Won't happen. -
I'm curious as to what ship she is, regardless of nationality, and who is the figurehead a representation of?
-
She may be Russian, she could be French, something about the figurehead design.
-
Usually searching Google for similar images helps, but may have to dig deeper here! I'm still looking, but hitting dead-ends everywhere. My belief is the key to making an educated guess as to which ship this is is going to be dependent on identifying the figurehead. If the figurehead is a representation of a real figure, then that will go a long way to putting a title on this ship. The plans in the museum peg it as circa 1790 as well.

Do it Steel, excellent post!

Not to go off topic but this system of commanding smaller ships to get into larger ones is exactly what I wish World of Warships was. I think the performance of the general population would dramatically improve if forced to learn how to play smaller boats and work their way up. That being said, and back on topic, you would have to remove the officer ranking system for this to even be possible, otherwise you'd conceivably have Jr Lieutenants running around in Bellonas, or at least attempting to, looking little better than Jack Sparrow and Will Turner attempting to commandeer the Dauntless. It's just all sorts of wrong and tosses any idea of realism out the window and brings this game closer to that dangerous world of fantasy.

Ya know if you had sunk him I'd be cheering, but failing to do so just gives him ammunition to kill him. I used to love small boat ganking back in PotBS, did it often as a Brit, though once I went pirate it stopped altogether. Granted, small boat pvp can be fun, but if you fail to sink or capture your objective, you're just failing altogether.

While you've provided a second view on what really happened pellasgos, you also fail to comprehend that the Dutch nation caved first. Call it a tactical retreat if you want to save face, because that's pretty much what I'm gathering from your long ramble, pats on the back etc. From what I've seen and heard, the Dutch fought admirably and were recognized for that, but the first to cave is the loser, end of story. How bad of a loser you want to be is evident in how you respond to the cessation of hostilities, and so far, you're the only poor loser that I see here. Maybe I need to get out more, but I rarely see any Dutchman behaving this way in the forums?

New Playable Nation: Portugal (pvp2 clan)
Haratik replied to Rebel Witch's topic in Guilds, Clans and Trading companies
But the region of South America that was settled by Portugal does not factor into this map and I really did not think I needed to post this to prove it: Treaty of Madrid -
New Playable Nation: Portugal (pvp2 clan)
Haratik replied to Rebel Witch's topic in Guilds, Clans and Trading companies
Carracks and Galleons (as we know them) won't make an appearance. Archaic galleon designs were long a subject of debate, at times rather contested. However, the devs have made their timeline rather firm, and carracks is usually greeted with a smile and quiet mirth at such a suggestion. I'm totally with Portugal being ingame but I don't think we'll see the nation until the devs, if they ever decide to expand, open up new areas of play. Main reason I can see Portugal not having influence in the current map is here: Treaty of Tordesillas However, creation of a Portuguese guild in support of the British is totally awesome, perhaps one day you can fly the Portuguese naval ensign Good luck in your new venture Rebel! -
