Should player fleet be remove from PvP

Why i want tthe player fleets to be removed:

- When i chase ennemy , I alwais find my targets (traders) with fleets.

=> I try and sometimes succes
=> I don't attack.
For example today, 3 indiaman 1 gv were escorted by 2 endemyon 1 surprise. What is enough? No all players get fleets and intot the pvp battle it was one trinco, 2 indef and 1 npc surprise. In our side, it was 1 tirnco npc too. Is it pvp or?
 

- When i cross ganker, they alwais get 2 surprise or 2 renomee. Why to give troll option to player? I'm in a sol and i'm attack by 2 npc and one player? It is supposed to be pvp or?

- NPC player fleet were necessary when we didn't got fortress. We got defense coasline now, npc are useless.

Maybe let trader npc to make convoy what get sence because they will not be use (to much) in pvp.

With devs testing the opportunity to use the hold space of fleet ships I am thinking that it could be an OK solution to allow players to take traders as fleets, and to escort them themselves with a warship, but that the opportunity to have warships in fleet should be removed. 

I never really tried using fleets. In the last week I have tried fleets three times. Once for transporting a ship (didn't really make a difference, did it @Christendom?), once for tactically increasing BR, and once for escort. I didn't feel any safer, and I didn't need them or get helped by them. So I'm definitely not going to make it a habit to bring AI fleets.   

I've been taking a peek in on the PvP2 server these last couple of weeks, and it seems everyone there brings an AI fleet when they go in OW.

What happens when you chase an enemy that isn't a trader?

What stops you from using fleet ships?

Maybe some limits.

What if fleet ships could be max 5th rates or max-max 4th rates.

What if on PvP server you could not have AI to play your fleet ships, instead when you get in a fight, your friend has to take your fleet ship in control.  Else your fleet wont participate.  Your fleet ships are kinda from your shipping company, but you still need captains to sail your ships.  Will add social interactions, coop.  After this, escorting your friends has never been more fun ;)

Also, for example Indiaman could be the only trader that can have escorts.  We have plenty of solo pirates, fleets are REALLY bad for these guys.  But maybe heavily guarded trader "class" could fit in the game.  Max 2 fleet ships.

Warships, maybe max 1 fleet ship.

 

Could be worth testing at least.

I just dont like the way fleets are used.

When attacking a trader with fleet i want to take down the fleet and finally beeing able to cap the trader if successfull. But what i have to do is ignore the fleet and just try to cap the trader asap (fleet surrenders). So in the end the fleet ships are only used to shoot sails, the trader will escape asap. Then have fun hunting the AI ships set to escape.

When fighting battleships with fleet you will focus on the player, for gankers its just a tool to slow down enemies as well.

Fleets dont improve gameplay in any way, and i dont think we can change this, other than prohibit traders with fleet to escape e.g.

Fleets simulate the escorts the lack of palyerbase can no longer provide (it also never pays off/is a waste of time unless youre escorting clan resources to the clan warehouse). It is only incompetence that stands in your way of boarding a trader even/in particular as a lone ship. While I can somewhat even see the point the playerbase can sadly not be trusted to actually attack a trader/warship with a limited/no fleet on their own and not do the ususal 5 ship gank fleet we can't just abolish the solution to it. And as this is easily overcome with skill (or at least I never had a problem) it is also not a problem that needs immediate addressing!

i, Miss 3 options :

>> only players ships in fleet

>> only Ai  ships in fleet.

>> More AI or/ playerships in Fleet

What if..  While your fleet is in battle, you cannot escape?  Maybe a good ~compromise?

Cap the trader and get away with it. Good raider do it all the time even facing heavy frigate escorts with schooner/brigs and light frigates, alone or in 2 ship groups ( big groups scare everyone away in the area ).

If it is impossible to achieve just call the raid off. Not all interceptions will work, that's the way it is.

The responsibility of keeping cargo secure is of the fleet commodore, not of the raider. Having the trader not being able to escape once he is away and safe will be a limitation which isn't really necessary.

Mutually exclusive is the way to go. You can escort your own convoy - and other players can only intercept you with a single warship. This is a setup for good gameplay unless they bring many players and gank you but that's always going to be an issue.

These restrictions could be dropped on PvE (if that's going to be a thing in the future).

It would be fun for a player jumping in to a raid to be able to command all warships (same mechanic like now, just more controlled vessels), a true role for admiral ranks perhaps?

kind of makes small ships pointless unless they're also gonna bring AI ships.

 

we tell pirates to play like pirates and then do things like allow a player on a trader lynx to bring two frigates with him everywhere he goes and meh.

 

Then there's the opinion that if we wanted to fight robots we'd be on the PVE server.

Only begginers should have them to help grind at start.

I do so miss the days when you got to rank 3 or 4 and the game snatched away your training wheels.

I'm firm about this. I don't see myself as the only ship captioan of my fleet.....notice I said fleet. I'm the Admiral (though Pirate version on PvP2) of my fleet of ships.   If I can man more than one ship than I should be allowed to.

Didn't they put in your fleet effects your OW ship speed?   I know it effects your BR if you under-crew them.  I'm asking cause the other day we couldn't catch a LGV with Trincs and other ships.   Well that was understandable until you saw it had a Wappen in it's fleet.  A ship that can hardly go above 10 knts when all our ships did 12+.  So it should of been slowly that LGV down big time specially in that bad winds for the Wappen.   I'm all for things like this effecting players that use fleets.

One of the big problems folks saying keep it to lower level is that most lower level players can't man more than one ship.   That and Newbie ROE don't allow fleets in battles if your in those zones.  So really that option would mean on fleets at all.  I'm one to believe I have the rank and crew I should be able to bring the ships I want to if I have the crew for them.   Now my complaint about fleets falls on those that use them no matter what.  Like on PvP2 nationals tend to allways have fleets with them no matter what.  So a 10 vs 10 can turn into a 25 vs 10 fast.   we had one battle that was a good 15 vs 13 turn into a 29 vs 15 cause the other side in shallows all had fleets with them for the most part.    I think the fleets should be added to the battle cap of 25.  Once that cap is hit than you can't get any one else into the battle.  This would have a lot of none fleet players pissed off.   That and make it like it use to be. If you have a ship in your fleet you can't enter port battles.  This will stop folks from bringing fleets with them to deal with screeners.  Most of them bring junk ships, put them on the screeners and than leave the fight o join the port battle.  Yes those junk ships just surrender and they loose the crew, but it still ties us up.  Though I'm more into the AI comes in and ties up the 25 slots.  If you bring AI ships to a port battle they can join but once the ships hit 25 it's capped out.  Once agian you have a bunch of pissed of players cause they couldn't get in cause of the AI ships in others fleets.  This would allow them to fill slots in smaller pop nations that have the crew to do so in PB's.

The funny thing is half those time these guys bring AI fleets they get in the way more than they do good and end up hurting there team.
