  1. Hey guys, I've put together some ideas and created a rough picture of how I would like to see Naval Action UI. 1. Animated ship parked outside port. 1 port for each nation. Nation flag across the whole top panel. 2. Interactive icons around the ship. Paint, Guns, Cargo. Move your mouse over to see details and info. -Click on Paint Icon and it will open all unlocked/locked paint themes. Collect them all! Paint your ship and see how it looks right from the paint window. -Guns, click on guns icon and go right to the shop that should only display few types of guns that can be fit on your ship. Quick and easy. -Cargo, click on cargo icon to access your cargo hold. New Window pop up. ------------------- Captain Portrait, Rank, XP, Interactive Ship Stats. (Thickness, HP, BR all needs to be here)! Mod icons for easy mod customization. (New mod window pops up when you click on mod icons). Port Name, Game Settings Button should be placed in the corner as well. (Not shown). Time/date should be added as well. Chat - Show/Hide (optional) Port details Icon (not shown) Port, Warehouse, Missions, Economy - all these provide access to new customized and organized windows with new wallpapers, no animation here necessary. Docked ships, nice and clear ship icons of all parked ships. More ship slots, expand/hide button to keep all ships nice and organized. Compare ships tool. This tool compares stats. Player Gold amount with icon in the top corner. Set sail - enter open world. I hope this will help Devs Create the new fresh look that will make Naval Action easy to understand. This is a quick sketch and only made to show ideas. Developers can always refine this into a masterpiece. My suggestion is to use carved wood and gold everywhere possible. Beautiful sword handle knots under buttons. Please post feedback and suggestions. Thanks.

  2. Now that release is looming over us its time to think about ships, the current crop of ships you are able to sail in the game is fantastic but sadly, not enough. If the game is thinking seriously about a publication in early 2017 there needs to be a dramatic expansion to the stock of warships we are able to get our hands on. As I see it, the things the game could do with most is an expansion into having an example ship from the various maritime nations of the time. Luckily we have most of these bases covered, but the game really lacks an example ship from various regions like Portugal, Italy and The Netherlands. Its not something that we need hundreds of, but an example ship design showing what a national maritime power could achieve, or showing off an example of the kind of ships they liked to produce. Thankfully there are more than enough resources posted to help the dev team realise this goal. As a general sum up, it would be great to see at least 8 possibilities for each of the Naval Ratings, which is generally met in the lowest tiers. If the topic "The hopefully Comprehensive List of Ships In Game and Development is to be believed there are currently" (as when writing this): 6 Trading ships, 2 in Development 7 Unrated/7th Rates 7 6th Rates, 2 in Development 11 5th Rates, 3 In Development 4 4th Rates, 1 in Development 2 3nd Rates, 2 in Development 2 2nd Rates, 3 in Development 3 1st Rates. Leaving us with 42 usable ships and around 13 more ships likely/confirmed in development As you can see the vast majority of ships are the ones you sail as a low level captain, with by far the best variety available in the 5th rates category, while this does cover quite a few early game ranks it would be great to see some ships that just aren't represented in the game yet, and where there are options it never hurts to have more. The most exciting ship added to the game so far for me was the Rattlesnake, mainly because it played so differently to the brig. I'd love to see more additional options of this kind of ship and the play style it promotes. For me the Glaring missing parts of the game right now are the ships missing from nations like Portugal, The Netherlands, The Italian States. When it comes to ships themselves we very much need ships spanning 4th to 1st rates allowing more options within the classes. Currently the most glaring choices that are missing are some more 1st rates, a 96-8, 90-94 and an 80 for the second rates, Some more 74's in General as the most typical ship it would be nice to see quite a few designs be it interesting or typical of a national navy of the period, possibly adding a few others say a 70 gun ship along the way too, 4th Rates are probably where this can get a bit interesting, being that its still quite open and in game, seems to mean anything from 52-68ish guns, I'd personally like to see one of the Napoleonic 50 gun 4th rates, and use this as a category to bolster our some fun an interesting choices for the so far unrepresented nations, there are some great resources in the shipyard too but this is possibly the most open class to really experiment and throw in something a bit unusual, perhaps even something from nations not so well represented at sea during this period. All in all to sum up, I think to properly stand up and stand out over time this game needs to have more ship variety at higher levels, this allows the game to stand up on its strongest mechanics, the combat and looks of each ship. I understand that development is a long process but I have also heard that modelling a ship is the smallest part of the effort, where the majority is programming and testing, but to give the game the right kind of draw I think we need at the very least 8 ships in each class, preferably over 10, especially in 4th rates. So my suggestion is to really ramp up the shipyards, and give us at least a token ship for the major nationalities, similar has been done for the Germans with Wappen Von Hamburg.   3. I dont need more ships, I need interactive and fun PvP and Open world mechanics and a properly working economy system. When they fixed all this, they can focus on additional content like more ships. Its planned for the end of this year AFAIK

While I do agree with you, things need to be fixed there is this large need for additional content, Breaking things down again using "The Hopefully Comprehensive List of Ships In Game And Development" we currently have confirmed: 11 British Ships 6 American, with 1 in Development 6 French, 1 in Development 3 Russian, 1 in Development 2 Swedish, 1 in Development 1 Spanish, 1 in Development 1 German 0 Danish, 1 in development While this doesn't answer all questions, and sidesteps the chart very nicely presented to us by @van der Decken (sorry) it does give an easy overview, we are currently missing some various but important nations, for example like earlier the Dutch, Portugal, Venice (or other Italian states, such as Tuscany but Venice has the best examples of an Italian maritime power) and possibly some examples from the less maritime nations like Austria or The Ottomans. I know that there are plenty of resources for the other nations, I have personally provided a lot of the Venetian information, and when you consider that the 2nd Battle of Cape Matapan was both larger and just as decisive as Trafalgar its a shame that this kind of maritime impact can't be tributed with a ship or two in the game, especially as its a battle fought between the Ottomans, and the combined forces of Venice and Portugal, 3 nations that firmly have no ships at this time. I also know that community members such as Steel Sandwich has provided some fantastic information for the Dutch and others have done the same for their Nations of interest. I'd personally like to see a higher focus on more interesting ships from other nations. I'd even be prepared to suggest that the Devs delay release for a month to up the ship count significantly, because while we all want well rounded complimentary features, I think the game needs to make the most of the best part of it, which is the combat, which is made best by the variety and flavour of having as many diverse ships as possible be it from new nations, expanding small national rosters or allow for a different styles of play.

  6. Looks great. Id like to see a new tab: Tavern There you see all captains who are in the port right now and you can chat with them. Additionally there is a white board where you can add a custom note and others can read it. So for example you can ask for a convoy or request a material transport (with payment) or just look for people to form a group. People can advertise for their clans and so on. You can also just chill and talk with other nations (imagine how many different people and nations there will be in La Navasse before a PvP event).

  7. @Vanderdecken our frigate is a chapman design --> swedish ship (here belongs our preorder yacht, too) the Mercury, Pavel and Ingermanland are russian Snow is the HMS Ontario which is british Lynx and privateer are american There is no pirate shiptype ever. No nation build pirate vessel. they build privateers such as the rattlesnake. I understand what you intend but please get your facts straight when you throw in such charts. please!

  8. Just cause they /HAD/ planned for a Jan/Feb 2017 release doens't mean it's going to happen any time soon. We aren't even in a beta stage yet and things need to be finisehd. RvR needs to be tweeked more and they stilll haven't even came out with any Pirate Mechanics. I still don't even see us making a summer release at the rate the Devs are moving so don't have a clue why folks keep thinking we are looming any where near a release. Exactly I think we have plenty right now with them dropping say a ship every month would be just fine if not every patch. I'm sure there are more than just a few ships in the works. Why do we need all the bells and whistles now? We need to save some of that stuff for after release. That road-map needs to be updated. I brought it up all ready they need to do a new year update and let us know the comming plans a bit to help keep interest. I still want to know where the heck my pirate mechanics are. It's been a year of EA and it was voted to come out after RvR right? Well that stuff is out and being tweeked, it's time for the Pirates to get some love. Mainly to shut folks up and maybe give them some identity in game. Exactly, we don't need all the bells and whistles, we need to work on more inportant things with them dropping a new ship prob every patch or two and then let more ships bleed into the game as it release and after. I never really see this game as being one that will be FINAL. Like many other MMO's they will need to release little extra content here and there. That and I would like to see that new US privateer the Something Prince....but than I love me some small ships. I would like toe see the Hermione cause it's more a ship I would sail. Any one know why it didn't make it into the patch? Could of swore the early notes said it was suppose to make it into the game by now.

  9. Balancing is a different story, the point being that if they are going to continue to introduce ships (which they stil are!), why not add diversity in the nations? It a very,very small thing to do which pleases a lot of people. It's literally a win for everyone.

  10. Maybe the lack of this has something to do with the fact that we dont want another lobby game? We are testing the game with a OW mechanic and freedom of sailing the Caribbean Sea. We are not here to just please our selves. Lobby matches were great to test fights. Not everything perfect with OW mechanics and instead of backing off and step back lets focus to improve what we are working on.

Некогда, с 1561 по 1795 годы, в западной части современной Латвии, существовало герцогство Курляндское. В XVII веке, при Якобе Кетлере, герцогство достигло расцвета: строились мануфактуры, развивалось сельское хозяйство, создавался торговый и военный флот, который превосходил флоты Бранденбурга, Гамбурга, Любека и прочих германских городов, вместе взятых. В это же время Курляндия подалась в колонизацию на Африканском побережье и в Карибском море. Нам конечно же сейчас интересна Вест-Индия. Карта, на которой показано расположение герцогства Курляндии и Семигалии. До Российской Империи всего один шаг. Корабли герцогства предпринимали торговые путешествия в Вест-Индию, приблизительно, с 1637 года, когда курляндский корабль предпринял попытку основать колонию на Тобаго. Первая попытка, как и последовавшие далее еще две (1639 и 1642 года) - были неудачны. В 1654 году на Тобаго прибыл 45-пушечный корабль «Das Wappen der Herzogin von Kurland», несший на борту 25 офицеров, 124 солдата и 80 семей колонистов. Капитан Виллем Молленс объявил остров «Новой Курляндией». Чтобы колония развивалась, герцог Якоб приказал создать на Тобаго плантации сахарного тростника, табака и кофейные плантации. В 1769 году Бирон, изнурённый борьбой между пропольской и прорусской партиями, отказался от престола в пользу своего сына Петра, против которого сразу началось движение недовольного дворянства; он удержался на престоле только благодаря России. Женившись на графине Анне фон Медем, Пётр провёл несколько лет за границей; вернувшись в 1787 году в Курляндию, он снова должен был выдержать внутреннюю борьбу с недовольным дворянством. С третьим разделом Польши ленная зависимость Курляндии от Польши прекратилась, и на ландтаге в Митаве, в том же 1795 году, Курляндия была присоединена к России. Что имеем: присутствие Курляндии на Карибах, нам известно местоположение ее колоний, мы узнали о нахождении Курляндии в XVIII веке под российским влиянием и назначении в это время губернаторов острова, а затем, об ее полном присоединении в конце XVIII века к Российской Империи.

  19. Thank you, this is most helpful. For clan invites on occasion I would send out an invite and they would say they never receive one. I would have to spam the button till they receive one.

  20. NA friend invites used to only work for your own faction. If you sent to another faction player, the invite would appear to go but would never be received. I believe they were modified in Q4-2016 to allow you to invite allies as NA friends also, and probably still works only this way. Not sure about how pirate invites work. Invites to clan are obviously your own faction. What problem are you having with that, I've never seen any?

  21. А у меня тут идея появилась, только просьба не кидать помидорами. Итак тут многое сказано насчет крафта кораблей, в частности рейтов. Мол строят в соло и так далее. А почему бы например не ввести в крафт комнату, под названием верфь. Суть в том что в верфи крафтер может приглашать к себе "помощников". При приглашении помощника его часы добавляются в общий котел, которым распоряжается лидер этой комнаты. В таком случае игрок может отдать свои часы кому угодно зайдя помощником. При этом крафт 1го рейта будет требовать скажем 6000 лабор хаурс. Для того что бы скрафтить такой корабль нужно будет собрать минимум 3 человека с 2к крафт часами, при этом чертеж должен быть у лидера этой "группы" Хотя все это можно и не мутить, если например убрать требования в ЛХ для всех материалов и ресурсов, сделав при этом пострйку корабля в реальном времени, и тогда 1й рейт может строиться хоть неделю реального времени.

  22. Congrats everyone. We have reached our first milestone by gaining 25 members. It was considered to stop recruitment for a while but seeing how everyone has been working together and everything is running smoothly. Also I will be adding to this page a code of conduct also our current agreements and goals. Also formed a steam group.

I still think that once the ai is hammered out, it would go a long way letting others do modding, battles, etc. Not that I would want to play anything different, but I know there are true dedicated CW buffs who could really put the attention to detail and between Game Labs and modders, could have HUNDREDS of skirmishes/battles.

  28. I could be wrong, but I doubt Game-Labs will do DLC anytime soon. Nick comes from a Total War modding background, which I would guess leaves him with a bad taste in his mouth towards DLC. In case you aren't familiar, TW would release a half-done game, then proceed to charge for features/factions/story modes that should've been in the game to begin with. I think the goal is to make the game "complete" the first time around. Again, this is mostly conjecture based on past experience, but just my two cents. For what it's worth, I think that the final game will have a significant number of battles. Probably close to 30 for both sides!

  29. I would much prefer to test this instead of having timed pvp events. In fact hostility needs to take longer time or better pvp event created straight away not after 20% up and the approximate location of where hostility is generated shown on the map. Also no teleport from battlescreen during those hostility pvp event area.

  31. Minor battles aren't anything to sweat. Post Shiloh I make a concerted effort to not use 2 star squads with sub-Colonel officers outside of Grand Battles. Just bring nothing but Green and Regulars and keep putting them through the training meatgrinder.

  33. Captiva and Arvenski both have the right of it. F5 by default (I rebound mine to F6 I believe) will turn off port, starboard, fore, or aft guns (or any combination thereof) by hitting the button while you are looking at that side. Very useful if you've lost some crew, or if you are perhaps overgunning (or undermanning) a vessel.

  34. Currently if I got one 2000man brigade with 1861s and one 2000 mand brigade with M1842s and I would like them to change weapons I need 2000 guns more to do it. Similar if I want two officers to change position, I need an extra one with sufficient rank to do the change, So please add the option of removing both guns and officers from a unit. (naturally it should not be possible to send a unit unarmed into combat. One lacking officers would just have the stats as if he had been killed)

  37. If a pvp arena was created in the region when hostility reaches like 20%, then maybe defenders would come defend.

  38. As I said above. Remove the Save-Port-Jump in the battlescreen and the players will stop the prefered tactic to gain hostility with PvE mission -back to safe port - Pve Mission - back to safe port - and so on...

  39. Well, I am not really a PB player, but with the current system.. Now I am never going to play it for sure. Who the hell wants to shoot bots to get in end game PB? I understand bots to grind XP, fine.. But end game? Shooting bots? Like the worst possible idea ever. It is pretty obvious to me at least.

  40. Hello, I'm a crafter and as this I hate it, if I can't build all ships or upgrades which are in the game. I know ... its nice, to have many different ships sailing and fighting in the PVP battles and some ships should be rare ... but there should be other limitation than the BP ... ... just my opinion regards Berend btw. ... in this phase before release and wipe ... all ships should be buildable ... for testing ships balancing and economy

I was dueling a Waffle Hamburger with my Constitution today, we did a gentleman's agreement duel in the small battles room and had another player in a gunboat come in to even BR so we wouldn't have to deal with AI messing up the fight. It was fun, I called uncle as one side of my ship was getting low on hitpoints after repairs, I would have liked to try several other strategies (and builds), but it is a waste of time waiting on small battle to open, finding someone to come in to fill BR, etc. Besides this, other ships are fun to duel against each other, for example: I would love to practice my skills in Bellona vs. first rates (currently, I feel *pretty* confident I can take one out, as long as he is not an agile hull build Victory with turning mods), but I would love some more practice. Also, is there any way to group duel? I have noticed some messages when I am in a group and try to enter duel "only ready group leader can enter duels." Does that mean we can have massive duels? As in 8 v 8 to practice strategy? I've never actually tried it, but it would be awesome if it worked like that. Finally, it would be nice to have an "invite spectator" option so others can watch the duel if you want to show tactics or something.

  42. We had to do small battles with the Waffle and burgers to dual against any other 4th rate cause the dual system doesn't let you fight if the BR is off to much. So something like this would be nice. Even if it's a click to allow unlock of BR restrictions or something.

Характерно, что остров Тобаго, который де-юре стал частью Российской империи в результате присоединения Курляндии (о. Тобаго был колонией Курляндии), был долгое время не заселён, в 1704 остров был объявлен нейтральной территорией и стал базой пиратов; и лишь в 1763 Тобаго перешёл под контроль Великобритании, которая захватило его в ходе борьбы с пиратством.   45. Would it be possible for players who use the Marines Perk to have the ability to shoot muskets from rigging amongst other places? The process could happen automatically upon reaching an established range to the enemy ship with the amount of marines onboard dictating the number of casualties (per minute)** ; or just by a random function increasing causalities sustained with distance. This should put the marines to good use when not boarding. Let me know what you guys think!

  47. HMS Roebuck (1774) Plans based on Roebuck class. The Roebuck class ship was a class of twenty 44-gun sailing two-decker warships of the Royal Navy. The class carried two complete decks of guns, a lower battery of 18-pounders and an upper battery of 9-pounders. This battery enabled the vessel to deliver a broadside of 285 pounds. Most were constructed for service during the American Revolutionary War but continued to serve thereafter. By 1793 five were still on the active list. Ten were hospital ships, troopships or storeships. As troopships or storeships they had the guns on their lower deck removed. Many of the vessels in the class survived to take part in the Napoleonic Wars. In all, maritime incidents claimed five ships in the class and war claimed three. H.M.S. Roebuck was the nameship of a class of twenty fifth rates even though she herself was completed before any of the others had been laid down. Roebuck's keel was laid in Chatham dockyard in October 1770 and she was launched on 28 th April 1774. Measured by her builders at 886 tons, she was 140 feet in length with a 38 foot beam, and mounted 44 guns in total comprising 20x­18 pounders, 22x­9 pdrs. and 2­x6 pdrs. Shortly after completion, Roebuck was despatched to North American waters where the American War of Independence was just beginning. First in action under Hyde Parker in the Lower Hudson River, she was one of a three­ship squadron fired upon and badly damaged by the guns of Fort Washington on 9th October 1776. Although tactically defeated, the squadron's very presence in the river caused General Washington great concern and caused him to change his campaign plans in the area. Remaining on station off the eastern sea­board, Roebuck was in Lord Howe's fleet which played cat­and­mouse with the French during August 1788, and she then acted as flag­ship to Vice­Admiral Arbuthnot at the successful capitulation of Charleston, South Carolina, on 11 th May 1780 where she was again badly damaged heading the line past the guns of Fort Moultrie. In her last encounter of the war on 14th April 1781, she captured, whilst in company of H.M.S. Orpheus, the 36 ­gun American frigate Confederacy off the Virginia Capes, the latter loaded with valuable stores for Washington's army. After a brief period as a hospital ship (1790-­91), Roebuck next saw action in the West Indies during Sir John Jervis's operations off Martinique, and her final recorded engagement was the capture of the 12­gun Dutch Bataaf off Barbados on 6th July 1796. Thereafter serving as a troopship (1799), a guardship (1803) and a floating battery (1805), she was eventually broken up at Sheerness in July 1811.

  48. The Roebucks were not frigates at all. They were so called 44-Gun-Ships. A frigate, in the 18th century definition, is a ship with a single continuous gun-deck. 44-Gun-Ships had two gun-decks. They lacked the speed and agility of the frigates because of the additional deck. They were built for convoy duty and to show the flag on some backwater stations. The most famous member of the Roebuck class was of course the Serapis that fought John-Paul Jones in the Bonhomme Richard. And no - 44-Gun-Ships are definitely not how most people view frigates... But I would like to see one of those in-game along with a 50-Gun-Ship, perhaps?
