Patch 10.3 - New event, PvP marks changes, changes to knowledge slots and other fixes

Yeah it was a choice people could grind and get the slots eventually or swim with only 2.

 

Books in this game are super op. But grinding slots was super slow, so it was balanced. Now devs will nerf all the skillbooks sooner or later, cause everyone will have 5 slot ships.

This is just bad game design.

It was hugely unpopular, forced people to spend countless hours in ships they didn't even like and the devs removed it because they also felt it was wrong.

It was a counter balance to OP books.

You didn't have to master any ship at all. You would just have 2 skillbooks, not 5. It was a choice do you want to grind and have best stuff, or will you settle up for just 2 slots.

Now everyone will swim same ships with same upgrades. This is just sad and bad. And I'm saying it as a guy who had everything year ago and just left this game, cause i got bored of having 1st rate in every port i wanted to have.

good to have 80 pvp marks. so now if i want to earn anything without trading i should go kill stupid npc's on missions. It looks like u want to see the back of this last few thousands peoples still playng. Making changes that makes dozen hours wasted. Converting 1:2 when yesterday value was more like 1:30. Like slap in the face. Now i know why last 2 days some russian (coincidence ofc) players were gladly trading pvp marks for anything.

Its all good man, I actually had quite a bit of fun raising hostility in my little shi#$ers. which is the best way to level up rather than just grind. Always gotta expect the balancing...so I am chill, but literally when the update message came up, I said in TS to my they will be dropping ship grind now I am like 3 missions away....so it was sorta funny.

I called this on test day 1.  Now I call that books will get the Nerf bat next patch due to every one having 5 slots now.  Its like a Movie Empire strikes Back Patch but the Next one will be Return of the Carebear patch.

One small beg for your next patch to add some cream to this cherry of a 6meg patch....is please scale the loot on ships, so if you do sink an AI Santi (I know dirty PvE) you get perhaps more than 11 bits of rum

Some good changes, knowledge slots needing a grind only on the ship used is nice, you gain experience with that ship and get better stuff out of it.

Also i'm still not sure if it is intended or not but it seems like attacking traders AI that are now all armed and shooting back does not give any XP for the knowledge slots, same if they are escorted by AI combat ships that you need to sink, you get out of the battle and slots xp is the same as before for what i could experiment, is this normal ?

While we speak of this, why do traders have only 3 knowledge slots ? They are unlocked from the start but this gives them another disadvantage compared to the guys hunting them and they are enough crippled to not let them have a few more options, why not allow to open 5 slots based on travel XP instead of combat XP ? A guy after using a class of trader ships for many time and travels will have the opportunity to also have 5 slots, this will make it more fair don't you think ? Some traders can obviously fight some other ships too, not sure if the xp should be based purely on travel xp to unlock 5 slots on a trader ship but it will be a really nice move to have trader ships able to have 5 slots.

Also : Do you plan to make some books exclusive to traders like the "Art of proper cargo distribution " ? This kind of stuff should be applied only on trader ships and not available to warships

Adjustment to loot sinking ships is very welcome, thank you.

Lastly, may I ask some precisions about " OW speeds slightly rebalanced " please ?

Overall some very nice changes that will bring back some of the fun this game used to bring me, Thank you.
