  1. Great video! Some good learning points in there for NA devs!
  2. Extremely happy to hear that Release is fast approaching; really hoping for a good solid increase to the player base. However, one request: If there is a subject that would create goodwill and a happy player base at release it is Ship Knowledge and learned Knowledge Books. Please let us keep these as a Thank You to the testing community.
  3. Add Portugal to the nations. They can have a starting Capital at Santo Tome de Guayana down in the SE corner of the map which is closest to northern Brazil. If the enforced coalitions go ahead, Portugal should be allied with GB along historical lines of the Napoleonic Wars as Admin has stated for other nations.
  4. Would like the ability to see what cannons i have on board when in OW and battle and the ability to throw them overboard to increase speed when being pursued. The ability to be able to throw cargo over board when in battle to lighten ship and increase speed when pursued.
  5. The ability to be able to swap from Main ship to Fleet ship in OW. You would be required to come to a Stop and then initiate the transfer. This would then take a small amount of time. I don't know about anyone else but I am fed up with having to re select my ship knowledge books if i swap which ship is Main with one of my Fleet ships when in port. It would be nice if the ship kept the ship knowledge books in place while in fleet.
  6. I'd like to see Privateers as a faction that can operate under a Letter of Marque for a set period for a Nation.
  7. Privateers i guess would need to be a new "nation/faction" that one could choose to make this work. Suggested starter ships for Privateers: Any 6th/7th rate with a BR of 100 or less for definite (except Le Requin!).
  8. I envisage that Privateering would be mostly about commerce raiding but i think there needs to be scope to fight warships too.

Since this topic has come up in the new Alliance poll thread i thought may be a good time to have a fuller discussion about whether we'd like to see Privateers/Letters of Marque in game and how that might be made to work well. Some ideas to get us started ..... Privateers would need to be limited in what ships they could sail; maybe 5th rates as a maximum, but certain 5th rates(???). Certainly Privateers shouldn't be sailing around in suped up Endymions, unless the ship was capped off a player! Which means maybe a cap on what privateers can capture; here again maybe 5th rates. I think its unrealistic and not historical to think a Privateer would capture a 4th rate or higher. As a Privateer, if you bring in a prize of a captured player ship to say a Nation capital or County capital then you receive prize money for the ship plus any goods on board. There would need to be a window menu that only activated if you hold a Letter of Marque, that would then allow prize to be claimed. There needs also to be some way of tracking kills of enemy players so a reward could be paid for that too. The Letter of Marque could have a term on it that binds the player for a set time to the issuing nation, say 30 days (?) to stop abuse of the Marque system. Privateers could also enter PB's for the nation issuing the Marque. Privateers should be a separate thing to Pirates. Pirates are outlaws of the seas not privateers!
  10. @admin My Steam Account(CoachTrack) for my Naval Action character paladin1998 has been hacked and hijacked. The hacker has changed the email recovery address so I cannot recover the account. Naval Action was the only game on that account. I have sent two emails to Valve Corp asking for help and have had no response. Are you guys able to help me recover my paladin1998 Naval Action character? Are you able to associate paladin1998 to a new Steam Account (I have set one up... PaladinNZ) if i can give you details about the paladin1998 NA character proving I am the owner? Thank you.
  11. Some realistic real world things that we should really be able to do in game: 1. Be able to swap ships to one of your fleet ships in OW. There could be a timer for how long this takes to accomplish, 60 seconds maybe. 2. Be able to pull up to another player in OW and trade goods with them. Again this could have a timer on it maybe. 3. The ability to dump goods and cannons overboard during battle to increase your speed. This should take a little while to complete and should not require coming to a stop to accomplish. 4. Be able to craft certain "special trims" rather than it be at the mercy of the RNG gods. The current list of special trims is very good with plenty of variety but the the RNG is just frustrating for all players.
  12. @admin These Special Trims are really nice , some very good variety but PLEASE let us craft them, ie take away the RNG. Shipbuilders built to a purpose, they didn't pray to the RNG gods lol! One of the biggest frustrations in the game at the moment is that crafters cannot craft what they want trim wise, all you end up with is a whole bunch of vanilla teak/wo Endymions and Bellonas for sale in the KPR shop that no one wants. I'm ok with having RNG for the chance of a 4/5 purple or 5/5 gold ship but we should be able to craft the special trims as part of the ship build please.
  13. I think Reals/Pieces of Eight/Doubloons sounds good for the new currencies.
  14. I read it as Materials wipe, not resources wipe BUT some resources will be converted with no loss, eg logs to load of logs; per Admin's post. Once Admin releases the list of Materials to be wiped we'll have a better understanding, no need to freak out yet lol!
  15. I'm not finding any problem catching people even though they don't have limited sail repairs. The amount of repairs they carry is limited anyway by other factors such as how much they want their top speed reduced. The new mechanic is working fine as it is. People just need to adjust play style a bit, take a dedicated fast hunter in your group; traders will limit repairs based on speed and how much goods they want to carry. I had a US hunter group of three chase me in my Endy(which isnt even fully maxed out for speed) and they were whining about I wouldve been dead long ago if sail repairs were limited. Well they were limited... by me cos i wanted 13kn+ speed. The Endy/Surprise/Bellona they bought just werent fast enough to do the job well enough thats all and i escaped.
  16. So as I expected the US don't want Cayo Biscayno to stay neutral so lets face it they will take it if no one else does. Hence there will be PB/PBs for that port so it's irrelevant whether the US take it or ARMED, or VSCO! It's ok to talk about having a port neutral to promote pvp but if you haven't the agreement of the nation whose doorstep its on then its kinda a waste of time to even bring it up in the first place isn't it!

  18. @Christendom I think you're missing the bigger picture; the US for the most part do not want any of us on their doorstep, they are tired of getting attacked all the time (ok yeah i would agree its a shame more of them aren't into pvp) and I personally would be shocked if they do not take the opportunity to take back Cayo Biscayno and try to hold it.

Yeah but the reasoning of why the Wasa needs to have BR at or just above a 3rd rate, ie broadside & side armour, when applied to the Vic/LO/Santi means that those three 1st rates shouldn't have same BR I would say. They need to be different but not by much, they are three different ships with three different strengths as you say, but when it comes down to the basics they are different on broadside and armour HP.
  20. The US did not want to lose Cayo Biscayno in the first place; if ARMED don't flip it the US will I'm sure. I guess Christendom want ARMED to always have to sail past lots of pirate ports to get to the US east coast lol! Key West is a long bloody sail for us to get anywhere and back so actually if we did manage to take Cayo Biscayno IMO that would promote more pvp. Secondly although ARMED, the Pirates, and Dave like to pvp around Florida etc I would guess that a lot of the US players may not actually want even more pvp on their doorstep, theyre getting hammered as it is so why would you expect them to be happy with the Prussians or whoever being in Cayo Biscayno? There aren't that many US players who are hardcore pvpers! Maybe a few more pirates need to switch to Prussia and take Rio Seco @Atreides @Christendom
  21. Nice job! What you've done with the H Rattler, Wasa/3rd rate/Bellona makes a lot of sense. I think rating Vic/LO/Santi all the same doesn't make sense tho, need to be a small difference between them, maybe leave them at 600/625/650 respectively.
  22. I voted double Yes. PBs are stale and fairly boring now and need variety of ship types to make them more interesting and fun as I have stated elsewhere in this forum. IMO both options put forth by @admin will bring the needed variety to PBs that is sorely needed. I also like the fact that varied ship types in PBs mean that newer players have a chance to be involved in Line Ship PBs because they could be involved in a lower rated ship under this new system. This will make our game more inclusive and fun for newer players and hopefully help with player retention.
