  1. Good post. My own research , although not nearly as extensive was from a solo players perspective. What I couldn't seem to grasp was the labour costs that people incur that they don't seem to pass on to the customers. For example labour contracts being exchanged at the shop for 2500 dubs for 500 hours. Thus an hour to be billed has a price of 5 dubs per hour , where a dub = x .. it's quite a % to add on not sure about other ways to craft labour contracts and whether they are cheaper
  2. not sure if people realise the high % of casuals / part timers there are on the pvp server.
  3. yes and gating the rewards around this activity. Hold their noses and tip in the medicine whether they like it or not But I will say again. It's as far from the gulf coast to the gank zone as it is from the other direction. Minimal sailing from where ?This supposes that everybody has spread their ports out to anticipate where the zone will be and whether they can get their safely Playing against bots for grinding hostility missions = bad. Opening up a patrol zone type instance for all who are close enough could be better
  4. If players won't sail to the gulf coast for content, then perhaps they won't bother sailing to the patrol zones either .....
  5. yep similar ideas have been mooted before. See if anybody is listening this time
  6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZQzW_QfPew nice 1 , next time perhaps some patriotic music 😀
  7. anybody tried editing parts of battles that have already taken place ? i quite like watching the battles as they unfold and have enjoyed the commentaries where people have tried to engage with the streamer , less so with some of the dick heads turning up just to be salty
  8. yep I don't think it's any good to own ports that are useless , if they were a drain on resources , cash or whatever, then it may leave them open to use by others. Many smaller clans owning ports could create more drama / pvp / rvr At present, the richer ports offset the cost of the ports that bring nothing in. If this wasn't the case , then perhaps smaller clans could utilize them , fight over them , use them as trading hubs. Right now, clans don't fight over ports. The nation turns up. It's rare to see a PB with one clan filling their own side anything that could drive some rvr would be good of course
  9. There will be plenty of movement of players nearer to and at release , that's for sure. You first comment reminds me that there is probably more fighting within nations than between them right now. Trying to get anybody involved in anything could be entirely futile once we know when release will be You feel that the USA has a more difficult time due to map placement ? Lack of a nearby Freeport ? and a treacherous route to get anywhere else ? Or is it a problem connected to the players ?
  10. Clan timers to be uniform, no more having a clan having different timers for different ports. Spread the good woods around the map evenly with some in large ports for epic fleet battles and some in smaller ones. Think cartagena in different locations. If one large clan owned 2 cartagenas they might get multiflipped. higher costs for ports to try and leave some empty or unwanted ports available for smaller clans , nations and solo players to use. They don't have to own them , they can still use them as a secret base zero sum pvp rewards. You go out on the seas with a combat mark ( that you have to purchase from the admiralty or port or wherever) and if you sink another player ( or get share in the kill ) this is the reward you receive. Nobody would then bother farming their "friends / alts" as they can only gain what they have paid out in the first place. better spread of free ports . This will help people shift their items in readiness to use their dlc for forged papers. Currently there are nations where the free ports are a dangerous distance away. The time involved shifting their goods and the fact they also pay for this service perhaps a 1 time dlc for forged papers at a cheaper rate. Right now some of the dlc's are at times more expensive than the base game ( when on sale of course) just my thoughts, I'm still enjoying the game and will be happy to get going at release and believe many will return when they know there will be no more wipes
  11. no real reason why not. I would however make sure any rewards ( and this is the same for all pvp rewards ) should be zero sum the winner takes currency / reward / combat mark or whatever from the loser, no more talk of players farming their own alts or their friends a player can only leave port with a mark of currency ( these could be bought from the admiralty or whatever if needed ) and then if they are sunk, the winner of a battle takes that as part of their winnings. just my thoughts on pvp rewards , but I like the idea stated
  12. if the new player resets their perks they are no longer there by default ( afaik ) i reset my perks this morning as I no longer needed the one for fleet and have utilised it elsewhere. the new players just have it as a default choice to help them start
  13. been waiting for proper release , so for me that's great. Will we start with a clean slate, regards to Nation , Clan etc ? IE the same as a day 1 noob Not all of us have alts or any dlc's so it would be nice to know in advance whether it's worth hoping for a spring steam sale ( which is a possibility ) to load up on an alt. and lastly, if I have missed any of this information in previous replies, appologies , I don't really want to trawl the tantrums Be nice to lose the global chat channels ingame too , imho it's just for insults , racism and people linking stuff they shouldn't. Leave trade and nation but global should be gone, not worth the effort to police it
  14. alienating a % of the playerbase would be a bad idea they have made a choice where they want to play Perhaps we should move you to the PVE server ?
  15. yes definitely but there needs to me an amount of control that means 1 or 2 rogues cannot empty Havoc's dock or anybody else's before somebody fails to recognize humour
  16. If clan wars had become a thing, then pretty much every clan would have been it's own nation. Having more nations has been a good thing, less forcing many of us into the same nations as players we wouldn't want to be aligned to ( thats me being careful with my wording ) Some people advocated 3 great nations and the rest being Pirate clans who could fight amongst themselves or against the 3 larger Nations if they wished I'd have though having more choice would be good for the game, more chance of people wanting to switch nations , they can dlc if they wish or re roll if they don't. too many people here seem to think only of right now and the game as they are playing it. Some of us should look at the future and what could be good for release Forcing players into alliances is not sandbox enough for me. It's bad enough that i get joined every 30 days by a new spy I cannot do anything about or a nation wrecker only intent on causing disunity I'd have more choice , not less. I would however give serious thought to outlaw battles for Pirates and perhaps restrict their use of the largest ships and perhaps tinker with having more Port battles that need a lot more Line ships, people like those trafalgar type scenarios just my thoughts
  17. Aucune fabrication, amirauté uniquement pour les doublons desole , google translate. not craftable, only swap for doubloons at the admiralty AFAIK
  18. be even less reason to fight over ports that contain wanted items , i see that as a bad thing the idea that people will just fight for fightings sake, is fanciful we need more reasons to go out and fight over territory, trade or whatever .. not less
  19. A likely story... lock up the bank boys , he's going over the wall !!! 😛 old days, not sure about now but the servers were linked in some ways, labour hours and other thing I think used to share usage ( ie you used labour on pve and it vanished from pvp etc )
  20. Paint dlc , getting so many people wanting particular paints in global channel lately, would seem like the ideal dlc to me no crying pay to win with cosmetics
  21. where exactly ? secondary security zone isn't telling me which ports or areas ?
  22. clan timers to be the same across the map for all nations . Ports to cost more to disincentive larger clans hoovering up everything without there being any negatives probably topics already brought up and perhaps need looking at again tactical timers though. I understand clans not wanting to be attacked when they sleep . Perhaps a clan can only attack others when their own ports can be attacked, (the same time).
  23. i'm not averse to a total wipe, far from it. I do wonder how many "brand new players " will start at release or will we get 10-15k ( a 15% of total sales so far ) of players who have already started during development. Loads are waiting for release, not sure they will come back for anything right now, especially if they know they will lose it all. If we're going to have a wipe then it probably needs to be all or nothing. Those good sailors, who know the ropes will adapt quicker than any day 1 noob we shouldn't be thinking of us vets and us protecting our xp / slots but what will help new players from day 1. If that means a very level playing field, I am fine with it
  24. Players can restrict the language used in their own clan if they wish. The rest will always be open to all as it should be i play for France but am English and there are a number of others in my nation who also struggle with French, but try and get along with all Global and Nation chat don't even have to be used if the players decide they don't want to , no need for rules that could further allienate players who aren't multi lingual
