maturin
The website and media coverage of Hermione is as atrocious as the ship is a gobsmackingly tremendous triumph. Is she floating? Sailing? WHAT???
Hawke
What a beautiful ship. Truly stupendous.

Hyperion74
I had heard that they were building Hermione and now I see videos. Thankee for bringing it up. I have read that the French built fantastic ships. Some French designs in game would be welcome, especially frigates.
Baggywrinkle
Well there's Surprise (Unity) already in, which is a good start And hoping this week to put up some pics and plans for some Breton (and Cornish) luggers which hopefully will grab the attention of one of the excellent ship modelers who pop in to these forums - we need something for the cutters in-game to chase down! On a vaguely related note, anyone here know where this shot was taken, or indeed where Hermione is at the moment? I think it was taken from Le Cap de la Chèvre as she leaves the Bay of Douarnenez...pretty perfect picture for NA, although it seems whilst I've been away the first 'map' will no long be the English Channel...? »
Barberouge
Thanks, nice vids ! I enjoyed those ones especially: Back to Brest: http://youtu.be/yVcjlOAhf8Y?t=14s Tacking explanations: http://youtu.be/gDnj1BbL-1c?t=1m54s Music on the Hermione (with comments in English): http://youtu.be/OOCgYhsGhs0?t=13s Return to Rochefort after the sea trials: http://youtu.be/GlIgCyqB5KQ?t=13s Also Surcouf points out some realistic ship speeds with a quote from the Hermione's captain: « 105 miles traveled at 4,4 knots average, close-hauled in a 10 to 15 knots wind ; 15 minute phases with the rudder amidships ; a perfectly stayed course : L'Hermione is a hallucinating ship ! »

Theuerdank
Great project, absolutely. Curious also a french project is to build/recreate a medieval castle with contemporary materials. Also a huge intention.

Robert Danforth
I definitely want to see her when she comes to my neck of the woods. That said, in the first video, that guy's clothes are ill-fitting and improper. I realize I'm being anal retentive, but I'm a reenactor of the period, so it should be expected. E: At least he doesn't have a beard. That's my biggest pet peeve.
admin
Probably going to be one of the runner ups in the voting. By the way did you know our forum member Surcouf works on this ship.

Robert Danforth
It's too bad the Connie is laid up, would be great if they both could have been taken out together when the Hermione visits Boston.

maturin
Surcouf can you share any details of her sea trials? How does she handle on various point of sail and maneuvers?
Lord Hood
I do love what has happened with this ship. I am excited with the construction of the Delft (56) being built currently in Rotterdam although not much news has come from her. I believe that she is still the keel and ribs at the moment.
