KillBox
I really do agree with the above but a secondary on the ship additions front should be more SoL's. we only have a Bellona at 2nd Rate and Victory at 1st. I don't recall whether we have an 3rd's or not though. As well as a second advancement line for snowflake-y ships like the Mortar Brig. Bellona's a 3rd Rate - 74 guns. 2nd Rates commonly have between 90 and 98 guns. They also fell out of use for the most part as they didn't make sense. 1st and 3rds were the mainstays near the end of the 18th and most of the 19th centuries. Source. There were a few very pretty Dutch 2nd Rates (1st Rate by Dutch standards, damned be those shallow harbours), while the few 4th Rates that were around were usually used for Escort duty, but were powerful vessels in their own right. RAMJB
might I suggest the addition of Post Ships or French Corvettes? The Surprise -IS- a French Corvette Yeah the power gap is indeed insane between the brig and surprise. I'd say a heavy brig and a sloop of war could serve as bridges. Devs have already stated however that they're very much aware of the gap and that they are planning on plug it not far in the future.
Bixol
Wasn't the snow hms ontario going to cover this gap? She should be implemented "soon"

A Rose by any other name, eh? And when I said French Corvette, I meant by Admirality standards of the early 19th Century - which is effectively a Post Ship, between 20 and 26 guns, fully ship-rigged and looks exactly like a Frigate, except for the fact that it's missing an Orlop deck. Specifically the French Diligente (carrying 20x 6-pounders until being re-armed with 12-pounder carronades a few years later), or if we carry on with a British theme, the Sphinx Class. However the Ontario with 22 guns will fill the gap just fine. Just adding suggestions here.
OTMatt
However the Ontario with 22 guns will fill the gap just fine. Just adding suggestions here. I bet it will be real popular in the open world game. 9 gun broadside with forward and rear chase guns. Likely cheap too so its a pretty good package, all the necessities fulfilled in comparison to the brig. It will probably serve as the foundation for many clans naval fleets, I just can't wait to play in it.
Leviathan
"Rattlesnake" privateer 1780 Massachusetts Privateer Ship Rattlesnake was designed by John Peck of Boston, Massachusetts, and probably built at Plymouth in 1780.1 She was very lightly built and had no wales, and was reputedly very fast. Rattlesnake appeared as a miniature frigate, with detached quarterdeck and forecastle. She may have had gangways and/or gratings extending from the quarterdeck to the forecastle. These would have been removed in action. Rattlesnake measured 89'3" on the deck, 74'11" on the keel, 22'4" in beam, with a depth in the hold of 8'10 1⁄2" and measured 199 tons.2 I think this ship would be a blast and would fit between the brig and surprise http://www.shipmodel.com/models/rattlesnake-privateer--- http://www.awiatsea.com/Privateers/R/Rattlesnake%20Massachusetts%20Ship%20%5BClark%5D.html

She even looks pierced for bow-chasers - shamelessly aggressive little thing, like it's namesake.

KillBox
I'm still praying for the HMS Orion or Collosus. Either that or an 80 gun SoL Bucentaure was an 80-gunner launched in 1803. Would make another excellent addition IMHO.

admin
So many great ships, not enough great 3d artists. Swedish ships really look very good. And thanks for the Rattlesnake hint.. lovely ship. Will put it on the list. We actually worked with Axeonalias - creator of the LAurore and one of our frigates is based on that ship (it is not in game now) but you can see it on some old screens from last summer http://www.navalaction.com/blog/2013/7/21/summer-update That frigate will come back soon (1-3 months). It needs re optimizing for bigger battles. He also did Bellona for us (old version) but we wrecked it, and built a new one. As his version was too performance heavy and it was faster to make a new ship. We promised in the beginning of this year and we will make it happen. We plan to actively use community created content - we just need more time to finalize specs. With the onset of Unity 5 this could be further delayed, but not by much.
D. Federico de Gravina y N
I want to know if in the future, you are going to create the different 74´s class ships from the differents nations, not a custom 74 class ship

KillBox
I was wondering if you were going to make the jump to 5. Hopefully we get some more visual goodness from the new version. We should - Unity 5 brings, among loads of other things, Physics Based Shading and hopefully more streamlined render pipelines. I just squeal as I imagine what that subsurface light-scattering effects will do - you could actually see your ship's hull get wet and watch the water run off with every wave. The wood grain would technically be able to show underneath the hull paint. The bright-work would pop a bit better... It'll all just be so damned pretty.

Balck
Edit: Also, corvettes? Surprise is a heavy corvette, by French standards anyway We do need some more variety in frigates, some lighter than Surprise and up to the Constitution.
Prater
I'm just trying to come up with smaller ships for privateer use/merchant use. I'm basically just naming off random ships. I don't have plans. I think we really need to add a more heavily armed schooner. USS Rattlesnake (1813) 14 gun brig USS Ranger (1777) 18 gun sloop of war USS Enterprise (1799) 12-14 gun schooner America (20 guns) This is considered a type of corvette. Originally a "fast sailing East Indiaman, of about 400 tons. Soon after war[1812] was declared, her whole upper deck was removed. She became a corvette." HMS Port Royal 18 gun brig USS Pickering (1798) 14 gun schooner General Pickering 16 gun schooner? Golden Eagle 22 gun schooner Tyrannicide (1776) 14 gun brig
