I'd like to have (kill...) missions against other nations than Pirates.

+1. Interesting and very documented. At the same period, French corvettes of 20/24 guns, either : tried out really heavy gun armament : 12/18/24-pdr guns (Forfait's and Le Tellier's program in 1793/95 : Etna...) or carried 'normal' light ones : 6-pdr or 8-pdr guns but no carronades (that were still very new in the French navy). Maybe also two philosophies of use ? Fighting vs mainly carrying orders or dispatches (aviso) ? Too bad ! Hoping however you'll still post useful comments. 🙂

Moi je préconise Saint-Domingue et Cap Français de préférence. C'est central sur la carte. Ou alors 'Sale-Trou' au sud de l'île : C'est fou le nombre de trous qu'on trouve à Saint-Domingue ! Il y a 'Haut-du-Trou', 'Petit-Trou', 'Trou' tout court... C'est peut-être à cause des Amérindiens et des boucaniers français. Qui faisaient sécher leur viande à la fumée sur le boucan, un trou empli de charbon : "On avait rempli ce trou de bois, que l'on y avait laissé consumer jusqu'à ce qu'il fût en charbon, afin de bien échauffer toute la concavité de ce trou. On avait ensuite retiré le charbon, et la tortue avait été couchée sur le dos dans le fond, couverte de trois ou quatre pouces de sable chaud des environs, et puis du charbon que l'on avait retiré, avec un peu de sable par-dessus. Ce fut ainsi que ce pâté naturel demeura dans cette espèce de four l'espace d'environ quatre heures, et qu'il se cuisit beaucoup mieux qu'il n'aurait fait dans un four ordinaire. Voilà ce qu'on appelle un boucan de tortue" (Jean-Baptiste Labat, Voyage aux îles, 1722).

Have in-game Cutter renamed 'HMS Alert' or 'L'Alerte' and the Basic Cutter renamed plain 'Cutter', 'HMS Alert' or 'L'Alerte'. In-game Cutter was modeled from RL HMS Alert (1777) captured by the French in 1778 and renamed L'Alerte. In-game ship names such as 'Cutter' and 'Basic Cutter' are not nice. Could be changed. An other possible great name for a Cutter is Le Renard, one of French privateer Surcouf's ships.

Peut-être une petite précision supplémentaire 🙂 : il y a une différence entre les deux servers, Peace PvE et War PvP. Cette première remise à zéro semble concerner les deux, mais à terme, il ne devrait pas y avoir de wipe final (notamment sur l'XP et les navires) au lancement pour le server PvE :

Je pense que les nouveaux drapeaux à acheter en passant par l'Amirauté pour 50 000 doublons s'achètent en fonction de ta nation : si t'es français, tu peux acheter le nouveau drapeau français. Et il y a aussi un nouveau drapeau US pour les joueurs US. Visiblement pas de nouveau pavillon pirate pour les pirates dans ce patch. (NB pour @Surcouf : j'utilise le mot "drapeau" et non "pavillon" parce qu'il semble s'agir de drapeaux terrestres 🙂).

If ranks were to be reworked and extended, may I suggest, for the French translation, a NA thread in the French subforum and especially @Surcouf 's two great posts about French ranks that may help to add new translated ranks : 1) French ranks between 1675 - 1785 and after 1785 : 2) French ranks in 1780 :

+ 1 for more ships indeed ! However, I'm not a fan of how the previous poll turned out to be : a competition between nations to get their own ship (Me French want French ship) and a focus on "the bigger, the better" ("Me want 1st Rate"). That's why specialized polls may be interesting : a poll with small ships only,, a poll with Sols only, then a poll with ships from nations that haven't had implemented ones yet (Venice, Portugal...), a poll with traders only... It may also be the time for devs to choose ships by themselves, depending on gaps and their priorities. The last times they did (LRQ, Pandora...), they chose they had good taste. PS : "Let's have more 7th-6th Rates !" (I know, I know : I'm preaching in the desert 🙂)

I may be mistaken, but according to this, the Yacht and the Cutter don't share the same sailing model/speed curve. They seem to only share the same armament (like the Pickle btw). Moreover their 3d models are very different. PS : Free Pandora DLC is a great gift for testers. No need of anything else.
