  5. I guess the last thing players on the PvE server actually need would be newcomers calling them 'brave' or 'coward' or whatever. 😉 btw (and without connection) does 'avoiding negative impact on the peaceful pve atmosphere' mean not adding content, just like when you avoid movements to let someone sleep ? 🙂
: Excellent !!! 🙂
  7. optional AI aggressiveness wouldn't 'ruin the relaxing and tranquil experience' of a kind of players while pleasing another. But I guess it is also a matter of dev priorities.
  10. Add missions (hunt and search and destroy, challenge, kill...) reserved for 9-pdr(g) / 32-pdr(c) ships (that currently belong to two separate in-game rates, 6th and 5th) : Niagara, LRQ, Hercules, Cerberus, Renommée, Pandora, Surprise.
  11. Ah ! new topics on Exploration in NA... It's like the memory of a former lover whose image has never totally leave you... Sorry, guys, for a few seconds I was back in 2016 😁
  12. I don't need to read anything to know that a 6-pdr ship (Navy Brig, 18 guns) < 9-pdr ship (LRQ, 24 guns). But you need to understand that one can't nerf a 9-pdr ship to make her a 6-pdr ship.
  13. ^That's circular reasoning. Got it. You want to rule the seas with your Snow/Nbrig.
  14. Once again, LRQ shouldn't be considered in game as the strongest 6th rate but as the second weakest of the 9-pdr ships (Niagara, LRQ, Cerberus, Renommée, Pandora, Surprise) with the 'best/easiest' sailing profile (not being a square-rigger). Case close ? You mean giving LRQ her rigorously historical armament, right ? And giving up the current in-game simple rule : 'any 9-pdr ship also gets 32-pdr carro and vice-versa'. That means a lot of mess among the armament of various in-game ships as it would also mean to give them their historical armament too, that is removing carro on La Renommée, the Cerberus, L'Hermione, etc. + removing guns on Niagara, etc. + giving Prince de Neuchâtel mainly 12-pdr carro + etc... It is like opening the Pandora box. I guess it needs a lot of thinking before to see if it is actually a good thing. Moreover, would ships without carro be useful in NA ? As for making LRQ a 5th rate ? Would she be a good competitor to the Endymion and her 58 x 32-pdr (carro) + higher hp ? A new 9-pdr competitor to LRG would help, but she'd certainly be a square-rigger... A new rating system would too.
  15. To say the least ! Was it deliberate ? To frighten the enemy ? 😉 or make him leave : 'Why would you capture me ?'
  16. French Corvette 24-gun La Créole historical armament : 20 30-pound carronades + 4 18-pounders very well documented
  17. All we have to do is to replace 6-7th rate skill books and 4-5th rate ones with : 4 to 6 pdr ship skill books 9-pdr ship skill books (from the Niagara up to the Surprise) 12 to 24-pdr frigate skill books
  18. Thx for the precision. 🙂 Now, fat Sols are asked to slowly leave this thread.
  19. I believe you. Look at the Danish ones too (such as the Tranqvebar). They are also REALLY nice. 🙂 That's a matter of taste. Everyone on the forum do know yours. 🙂 They are. We'll have 3 new 1st Rates soon ! Like IRL, Sol and a small ship = not the same amount of investment !
  20. I say the Rate system is useless to classify ships in NA. There must be separate gameplay (PB/shallows-areas/missions/etc). for 6-pdrs and for 9-pdrs, iiif one wants to give a chance to 6th Rates. But who sail 6th Rates btw, huh ?
  21. Reasoning in terms of '6th Rate' (ie range of number of guns without taking into account the caliber/pdr) is useless in NA. Distinguish between : ships with 4/6-pdr guns or 12/24-pdr carro on one side ships with with 9-pdr guns or 32-pdr carro on the other As for LRQ sailing model, she's not a square-rigger... Plus it can be fine-tuned. Permits is another matter.
  22. In game : ships that carried 9-pdr guns IRL (such as LRQ) can also carry 32-pdr carro in game ships that carried 32-pdr carro IRL (such as the Niagara) can also carry 9-pdr guns in game When watching NA shallow water lineup from the Lynx to the Surprise, a gap can be seen between the Niagara and LRQ, two ships that both carry 9-pdr guns or 32-pdr carro but don't have the same number of guns : USS Niagara (20 guns) and Le Requin (24 guns), creating a difference in broadside weight : 320 pd vs 384 pd (with carro). My suggestion : adding a ship with an in-between broadside weight. Here are 8 examples from NA shipyard. Don't hesitate to add more / correct me. 1) The Hvide, 24 x 9-pdr 2) The Descubierta (20 x 9-pdr + 2/4 x 6pdr) 3) The Tranqvebar (20 x 9-pdr + 2/4 x 6-pdr) 4) HMS Phoenix (22 x 9-pdr) 5) La Volage (22 x 9-pdr) 6) La confiance (22 x 9-pdr ?) 7) Raae ( 18 x 8-pdr + 12 x 4-pdr) 8)Thais class (327 pounds with carro) and Cormorant revived - class (332 pounds with carro) Thx to the contributors !
  23. Someone said 'Exploration' ? This word regularly comes back to haunt NA forums...
