  1. Have a look at this, more to do with the OP Image than NA.... http://analytics.csis.org/fpds/navybeta1/ Build your own US Navy....
  2. The original idea was to call Gold the resource [Gold Ore] was to make it easier for Admin's coder's to change. It would be longer to do the Gold [currency] as it interacts with not just the UI but open world and trading. I suggested this way back originally... Now currency. There should be just THREE. Aztec Gold - this is the main currency used in all FREEPORTs. Pounds Sterling - Main currency used by GB, US, Dutch, Pirates Spanish Doubloons - Main Currency used by Spain, France, Swedes, Danes In each regional Capital there will be 3 cross rates changed by the Dev's every maintenance. You need to buy products in a different nation with that local currency. If any ones interested I can explain the whole idea tomorrow. This is not an additional grind but its something that the Dev's can use to help with inflation or bolster smaller Nations. This I believe can help towards a player economy. EvE Online as the closest but still needs massive Dev influence as they also have PLEX which you BUY with real money and in can be converted in ISK (eve currency) This is just P2W(play to Win) and I don't recommend. 3. I think it should remain in place for at least the first three RANK promotions. Then on it all goes... or I do like Maturins idea of longitude and bought chromoitors... Norfolk
  4. Can somebody help me if possible? Can I import the data updated on the server maintenance window in Excel ? Like shop prices or ship construction. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be most grateful. kind regards Norfolk
  5. Maybe from Post Captain and higher the rounding happens. This helps the player in the early stages of the game perhaps...? Sir Texas, Look up a BBC Doc film on The Bermuda Triangle 2 years ago. Flight 19 US Navy and navigation.... Flight 19 Main article: Flight 19 US Navy Avengers, similar to those of Flight 19 Flight 19 was a training flight of five TBM Avenger torpedo bombers that disappeared on December 5, 1945, while over the Atlantic. The squadron's flight plan was scheduled to take them due east from Fort Lauderdale for 141 miles, north for 73 miles, and then back over a final 140-mile leg to complete the exercise. The flight never returned to base. The disappearance is attributed by Navy investigators to navigational error leading to the aircraft running out of fuel. One of the search and rescue aircraft deployed to look for them, a PBM Mariner with a 13-man crew, also disappeared. A tanker off the coast of Florida reported seeing an explosion[42] and observing a widespread oil slick when fruitlessly searching for survivors. The weather was becoming stormy by the end of the incident.[43] According to contemporaneous sources the Mariner had a history of explosions due to vapour leaks when heavily loaded with fuel, as for a potentially long search and rescue operation.
  6. I think you've all shown some good points for and against with real life examples. The problem with Naval Action the game is the Guns are way too accurate compared to the real life examples. If they were mapped accurately it would never work so for the sake of gameplay this is why. From a coding stand point if you tweak the cannon ball shot accuracy then you need to do so the chain and grape. The Perks of Double Charge and Shot will magnify also... Maybe a better question to ask is in relation to the standard medium cannon ball shot, is the carronade, chain, grape and magnifiers(Perks) too accurate?
  7. Come On Sir Texas, Hug a Carebear today... Norfolk
  8. Thursday 22nd May UTC 0844 TestBed server kicked out me and a couple of others. Tried reconnecting at first got STEAM authentication Warning. Rebooted PC and was able to reconnect. All now good. Norfolk correction Thursday 18th May
  9. Balls, Brilliant Idea... All you need to do is drop the last 2 reference digits from your location. 74.25/ 23.25 to 74/23 Norfolk.
  10. http://www.latimes.com/business/hollywood/la-fi-ct-disney-pirates-caribbean-hack-20170515-story.html Now I know Sir Texas is becoming bored and wanting to start doing what Pirates do best, but really.... Norfolk nChance
  11. To Craft on the old servers you needed 45 for basic up to 49 for the exceptional build. I just leveled my ALT to 50 craft on the servers using my guide method. 384 Trader Lynx and took three weeks. I haven't done the calculations yet on the testbed, but gaining XP using the base builds and the key perks will be the quickest way. The problems with this now is for one your Perks are less flexible in usage. Light Ship ShipMaster reduces your labor Hours by 30%. So 157 hours normally to build the TLynx is only 107. The Foreman to generate LHs by 20% again is a must have. These two perks take up PvP slots so before a big build thought is needed.... The issues then is all the sundries associated with the SoL build from letter of marks to god knows what else. Then I assume you'll want Longs on some of the decks and also have the XP to open the mod slots otherwise at 1 Dura that SoL is an expensive piece of junk. You are going to need help. Either via ALTs or several clan members or both. I think it will be quite sometime before you see a real SoL. If you do see one within the first couple of weeks its worth having a pop at if you've 2-3 good connies lying around.... Norfolk nChance
  12. On PvE I was scouting for EPICs and got one RA EPIC just north of the shallows above Pedro Cay. I sent a message to DM [ELITE]s clan leader warning him enter from the North etc. With that I logged out and left. The next day I was bombarded with abuse and a screen shot I can't find. Full 12 players went in with Vic's and Santi's. Unfortunately the exit of an EPIC was sum what random and not where you entered. The screen shot showed 12 SoLs stone cold dead in the shallows. A tricky fight earlier had meant a lot of them had also used their teleport... we live an learn...
  13. [Henry] I believe the point [Peter Goldman] is making is that they are spread out. Outdated in some areas and in all fairness needs a revamp Plus not all players like the Games Lab forum so will need a STEAM link. While trying not to repeat ones self... WE NEED A RULE BOOK before launch. I suggest starting from scratch with a new pinned thread.
  14. If you wish to know a bit more on ALTs read my STEAM Guide. Will tell you why Games Lab will never ban ALTS. What Naval Action needs is a Rule Book before launch. At launch on download you need to accept or "agree" like terms and conditions. This should cover subjects like ALT usage, but other topics as obscene chat, and the use of modulated modifiers or CHEAT using D-DOS or similar methods The Rule Book in my opinion should stay away from In-game mechanic issues Norfolk
  15. This was a base table I did a while back with what [Challenge] is talking about in penetration drop off. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=821905674 Also I've included a STEAM guide I did on Penetration, Armor and Structure. It will be slightly dated now with 9.99 but you'll get the general idea. Norfolk.
  16. for your reference Intel i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00 GHz Kingston Hyper X 16.0 GB RAM 64bit OP Windows 10 Home GPU GeForce GTX 980 Ti v381.89 Average Ping from Hong Kong 260 VSync On, FSXX On, Anti-Aliasing 4x, Full Screen Mode FPS 45-55 ******************************** VSync On, FSXX On, Anti-Aliasing OFF, Full Screen Mode FPS 60 - 70 ******************************** VSync OFF, FSXX On, Anti-Aliasing OFF, Full Screen Mode FPS 120-135 ******************************** [Jacklj] this is what I posted on an early thread here. I have the power on max all the time. Most issues I have in Win10 forced updates and nVidia general updates. If you are using a ALT via Sandboxie etc you'll need to drop down a lot to Medium Graphics etc regards Norfolk
  17. Speaking from the other side so to speak... the demast saps morale in the player, a bit like the first time you are hit by a Mortar with the count down. The mast falling over although not lethal does hurt somewhat... When [BLACK] attack in a PB I notice now Jean Pual sticks to the outside of the melee. Keeps balanced and steady pace waiting for the opportunity to take out the masts. A great strategy as focus is miss directed away from him and someone will wonder into his range. love the pirate hack... will have to use sometime Norfolk
  18. Unfortunately I seem to agree here the game feels stagnant. Yes the changes are much needed but not really a radical change. Like all things products or even people are further along their "Product Life Cycle" than we care to admit. I don't want to see NA middle aged and yet still EA. The bad reviews are I believe born more out of frustration than anything else. We can all look in hindsight at mistakes, but the key is to learn from them. Players fell in love with their position and assets that there supposed to be testing. The First wipe in at least a year causes chaos. The UI and the lack of a tutorial are the main complaints I see on STEAM. These complaints are final product type issues, and not a long way from launch type area. So How old is Naval Action.... How far down the Life Cycle do you think its travelled ...? The Game needs a launch date to focus on and yet that feels a long way away... This not moan just thoughts I've had for a while Norfolk
  19. [Liquicity] Apologies my post was on the servers and not the Test Bed. The reason for the post was something I get asked or I see a lot with players wanting the best mods money can buy etc. And they do help but the basic know how... is the core to the success and not the mods. With my style or the Broadside way is exactly the same. Having seen De-masting I tried and tried to work it out to very low success rates like Joggi says 40 minutes plus. I quite literally hunted down anyone that was good at it to dual. This works in the TESTBED also I have done it. But these are my stages to working it Jean Paul may say differently this is his original idea I use... 1. Larger Ships are better. The Smallest I've used is the Trinc, lower rated ships TurnR is too quick 2. 250m like in the video is best distance with LONG cannons and if possible Double Charge. 3. Mods but not completely necessary are Pellew Sights, Optimized Ballast and Officer Perk Trim Optimizer 4. Game Mouse that you can reduce movement I use Razer Mamba Tournament The mouse when adjusted will still fixed as the ship is moving on the right height target you want. 5. Rolling Back is the broadside delivery Check by left click the mouse that the target triangle dose not adjust when pressed. So its lined perfect center on your ship. Adjust via left click in and move the red target the opposite way. Now at 250m move the red target up to the same height as the middle mast bottom yard. Start to turn into the target and line up the red target just to the side away from you. All stable, fire then immediately double the "A" or "D" key to turn into the target. Use the front mast also in the correct turned position for speed... It genuinely takes a lot of practice to turn. The turn keeps the red target and the broadside fixed at the same position making the chances of a hit higher... am sure lots of you won't agree with this method. It works for me, but took practiced... Norfolk.
  20. So secret to De-masting.....? IT's ALL IN THE TURN.... Watch me get taken apart by one of the best in the business.... Now watch his turning maual sails video... towards the end look at how he aims and talks about it. Ten minutes in.... Now try it... its hard but it works everytime.... Norfolk
  21. Duncan you are far more experienced in NA than me and I'm not a pirate. The Pirate mechanic I always assumed to be a Catalyst to instigate battles, war etc and not a Nation state. The Pirate Republic (?) needs some form of an advantage over a Nation with an equal OFFSET to balance it out. Might be stating the obvious here but it feels you have the OFFSET but no clear advantage? But needed first.... [Rebel Witch] and I are of one mind on this. Both from EVE backgrounds, we've seen this work and work for years. The General Sandbox needs a change before the "Pirate" problem can truly be solved. You are trying to solve the SYMPTOM but not the CAUSE of the problem if that makes sense? As described above and on other threads the Nation CLAN must come first before the actual Nation in regards to Port Ownership. The glue is the Privateer (sub-clan rank) who can be the hired hand. The more famous the higher his fee. You and am sure others won't agree with me on this, and am not sure if its possible. After the wipe could we use the TESTBED to Test this mechanic? I want Open World Game play with a Sandbox. Not a Sandbox Lite as we have at the moment. Can it really work, this hands off idea? I believe even after a short time the pirate problem will be more a problem for [ELITE] than [BLACK].... regards Norfolk
  22. Rebel, I agree 100% here. Unfortunately having the NPC Nation overlay causes more problems than it solves turning NA into a "Lite" Sandbox. Follow EvE's example Hi-Lo Sec ... PvE wrapped around an Open World, Sand Box where clans control regions and access to resources. Its a tad off Duncan's OP, but not really. This "Lite" Sandbox needs to be changed in order for a "Rogue" element to flourish. A place where a Nation clan can take a port. Then developed it, with shipyards or defensives etc. Norfolk.
  23. GeForce Experience I think optimizes their drivers to work better with the games. Shogun2 would have been total chaos without it in my opinion. I agree with Ned its a tad early as I told the new NA customer and gave him my load out. Olva not all NA customers will be as well versed as you in tweaking NA. A bit like FSX Gold Edition.. now that was tweaking. As Peter says GeForce is only for AAA Games, we could even use it even though we are a niche product. If Admin or Ink could reply I know its early days for this but should be on the cards imo Norfolk.
