  1. .. that is also nice for friendly PvP: If you surrender.. * Enemy captains get the option of taking over your ship with "X" like now or claiming "Y" it (or another right mouse button menu entry). * Claiming will remove dura+cargo and the winner gets the ship as loot same as now. * If you surrender but the enemy doesn't take your ship you keep everything. * If your leave the battle instance early you lose a dura (and cargo), your ship remains unclaimed in the instance. * Surrendered Ship stays in survival mode and may sink during the course of battle. * Claiming puts the winners flag over the national colours of the surrendered ship (eyecandy down the line)

  3. I like the inspection idea .. also impressment err "recruiting" from a trader sounds fun
  4. It's 22:00 CEST; 9 PM London; 4PM EDT; 11 PM Kiev, best to be early for team arrangement, location is Plymouth, Montserrat
  5. Greetingses I am a bit annoyed by the captions in the videos of last Saturday accusing us (SLRN) of trying to interfere with Trafalgar, and it was very bizarre how the big pre-Traf battle was interpreted in the Dutch ts channel (still love you guys) vs what happened on our side. There were no hostile intention towards the event on our part (and we had a few non-SLRN GB players in our ts at the time who should be able to verify this) If you recall global chat this was an agreed engagement (TDA/SLRN) which was delayed by US players getting tagged by AI (it happens, and it would have been tight even under perfect circumstances) and I even mentioned before that we would be running late for Traf. If you have sailed in that battle (nobody was forced to join!) you agreed to it and cannot then claim we did something vile and unspeakable. I still enjoyed the event (sailing alongside TDA players no less) and I'm looking forward to the next.
  6. In your case it might be a bug but losing a ship in one second can happen and it feels wrong no matter how badly prepared you or your crew might be. I was boarded by a sinking ship, clicked disengage (a mistake) and immediately surrendered. My 750ish men when confronted with fewer boarders from a collapsing hulk just threw in the towel. Me thinks initial morale shouldn't be so low that you lose instantly in the first round if your ships are in good shape otherwise.
  7. I think shooting sails is very much legitimate. When the enemy comes charging in there isn't really any other useful target.
  8. Doesn't have to be a huge multiplier at all, just a little so it doesn't feel like waste when you see XP in the post battle stats but you didn't actually get them because you are RA.
  9. I have no illusions about the 36s and 42s in RL, and I dont have to manhandle these guns either, which is a plus Ingame, our current overgunning of ships, and the fact that for long guns the mechanic is "bigger = better", I think the big French 74s should get something out of it that they would have had in RL - a slightly heavier main gun deck weapon and the easiest way to do this is to allow 42s.
  10. I hope they allow 42pdrs on the Temeraire 74s (and the bigger French ships like Bucentaure,Ocean ofc) until they add a 36.
  11. I see a dueling ladder coming up after wipe for enjoyable XP farming
  12. World of Warcraft is 10 years old and they still haven't figured out how to balance their racial traits. It's a nightmare for PvP and so would national traits be in here. Please no.
  13. I think the elephant in the room is this: rolling neutral faction as a trader.
  14. My $0.02: Attacker has to sail via the open sea (prevents map being flipped in an hour). Ports can only be attacked by fleets that have flagged themselves as invasion force (say) 1hour before attacking a port to get an opportunity for diversions and scouting. Light ships/new players get a real meaningful role (maybe ++xp for a ship that scouts ships from the 'invasion force' fleet). Add the ability for any captain to produce those letters with whereabouts of enemy ships. Defender gets an inferior but credible force that magically teleports (players from the escort/fleet duty queue/pool?) to prevent attackers waltzing into an empty harbour (or spawn bots if no players are available). Ships on the defending side that are near can join port battles. That way, defenders who have smoked the attackers intention may be able to intercept/delay assemble a defensive fleet which is large enough to see the attacker off. Inderdiction/delaying reinforcements becomes a thing for attackers. I am all giddy in my culottes here
  15. maybe: surrender = no dura loss but massive repair cost (even without battle damage to avoid exploits) So essentially you get a choice of keeping durability on your beloved $ship with a huge premium attached or lose one life. A convenience for rich captains and a gold sink.
  16. Still amazes me that the French didn't bother bringing a few of those to Trafalgar (which they had). It's the only first rate I'm really looking forward to for this game
  17. When you are stopped at red lights and gauge how many people are in the car next to you to see if they can board you.
  18. .. must .. stop .. drooling.. I always had a weak spot for these ships, awesome work
  19. Is it better to run with carronades or long guns on my dinghy? (I think it would be rather tedious to be in another boat, pretty much all it do is bore me sailing back to port to fetch it.. which port would i have to go to?)
  20. It would be nice if allies could sail on the same side in battles. No Trafalgar otherwise
  21. Looking at these pictures.. I notice there is quite a bit of tumblehome on the real ship compared to the ingame model.
