  1. Using this post to start a new topic to get the ball moving on peace between Spain and Britain. This was orignally posted in Spain is Dead but it is better if we start afresh without all the past Bullshit and insults in that topic. Please only Spanish/British Players post, Please do not post insults, blames etc etc. Suggestions only on how a treaty should go between the nations. For other nations players you can freely post but again follow the same rules of no insults, blames etc etc just suggestions on this, as the war has affected both nations the same and has gone on long enough that its not worth in my option in which players from spain or britain will just leave. First off We need to drop all the insults, blame games etc etc between Spain and Britain, its not making both nations look good. Secondly instead of just saying we need both sides to come to the table and agree to peace, why don't we actually get the ball moving with suggestions of what that peace would entail. Thirdly what i am suggesting is based off another game's way of solving war/peace treaties, aka Crusader Kings 2. Fourthly this is just solely a suggestion on how Spain and Britain can come to a peace deal that both sides will be happy with, i do not speak for the british nation/council or my clan in this. I speak mainly as a player that is fed up of having to tp to fight on three different fronts while also trying to grind myself up levels. Treaty/Peace deal suggestion Now i just want to make myself clear one more time what i put in the Spoiler is a Suggestion for a treaty/peace deal that both nations could agree to in order to end this senseless war, i do not represent my clan when making this post or the british nation at all. I would suggest both sides take this suggestion to there relative councils/clans and come up with something of the same and organise with the other nation a date and a time when both/all parties can sit down and work out a final treaty. Personally I don't care if its war or Peace but Its not good for Spain to lose players and its pointless for Britain to continue the war. Jager
Du hast zumindest partiell ein Real Life? 10. At an undisclosed location in the Caribbean at 7:00 pm central standard time February 1st, 2016; a large fleet of British ships approached a free-city within which the pirate "Black Flag Coalition" had made their base. The Black Flag Coalition was made of two partner guilds; The Forsaken Corsairs and The Jolly Rogers, who had been growing in strength through recruitment and piracy of local ships. However the piracy of British merchants and other vessels had prompted the British to send a fleet of 15 ships; comprised of several Niagaras, Snows and other assorted vessels to drive the Coalition from the free port. While the Black Flag Coalition was capable of fielding a similar fleet, they decided however to hold the main fleet in port and only field basic cutters. This decision was made by the Coalition in an attempt to ensure the British would be unable to make any money from the conflict. The first engagement of the evening fell to the British. The failure of the Coalition during the opening engagement was primarily caused by a lack of communication and the failure to prioritize targets which allowed the more powerful British vessels to engage Coalition vessels one on one. The second and third engagements sprung up as Coalition members who had been sunk during the first engagement returned to the battlefield and were engaged by British forces that had fallen behind their main forces. As the first engagement came to the end and more Coalition members came online it was decided that the Coalition would regroup and launch a organized assault, therefore all members participating in the second and third engagement surrendered their worthless cutters and rejoin the main force in port. When the Coalition left port it was clear that British moral was already low, primarily do to their need to constantly repair after each battle which cost them a small fortune; in contrast, the Coalition moral was high as they were actually making money from the engagements as their ships and repairs were free. The fifth engagement began with 14 Coalition Cutters engaging a Niagara, a Snow and several AI Cutters. In contrast to earlier engagements the Coalition forces targeted the Niagara and converged on it while destroying the its sails. The British attempted to protect the Niagara but several Cutters made it to the Niagara and continued to slow it. The decisive moment of the engagement was when the Niagara turned and attempted to engage the Coalition forces. One of the Cutters who had been tearing down the Niagara's sails decided to attempt a ram and managed to get the bow of his Cutter on top of the Niagara, after several tense moments the Niagara began to tip and a cheer went out across the Coalition team speak server as it flipped over. At this moment the British forces broke and fled the battlefield, but not before another snow was tipped by the Coalition. As the night wrapped up several other small skirmishes broke out between the Coalition and remnants of the British force, and before the night was out they'd sunk another Niagara.
  11. HMS Revenge (3rd Rate 74) Large 74 guns 3rd rate with 30x 24p guns instead of usual 18p on upper gun deck was finished in 1805 and participated in Trafalgar Battle in the second column of C.Collingwood. After firing at two third rates HMS Revenge got under fire from 4 other 3rd rates and 1st rate Principe-de-Asturias suffering from heavy casualties and partially dismasted but still able to return fire until being supported by HMS Dreadnought and HMS Thunderer. It was the only ship built to her draught and is considered to be one of the first ships of Royal Navy painted with the Nelson Checker. Upd. Btw got few hours looking for more drawings and I start to believe they're not picturing real HMS Revenge of 1805 (even sites and pictures claiming that) except the plan above. Try to count number of ports (and there are also some other details). Compare picture at the top, this one this and finally this Yep, that's right, all of them are HMS Revenge of 1859 as it seems =( I wonder how many wrong sources of information we got about our vessels in the game... I even didn't want to start this topic after that but I decided to post it just to warn others - be cautious looking for info and pictures. They can be very misleading.

  13. Part of the 11-ship Niger/Alarm-class, designed by Sir Thomas Slade, Great Britain´s most important naval architect in the Age of Sail (and No.1 in my personal 'all-star' team of shipwrights, with Sané, Blaise Pangallo, Blaise Ollivier and af Chapman ). The Pearl, like most of her sisters, was a higly successful cruiser, with a couple of notable single-ship actions (e.g. Santa Monica, L'Espérance). Arguably Slade´s best frigate design, she was capable of 13 1/2 knots with the wind abaft the beam and 10 to 11 knots close-hauled. Very weatherly, highly manoeuvrable and could carry her sail in strong winds 'as long as the masts would bear it' . 16. HMS Sophie (real-life HMS Speedy) Jack Aubrey's first command, described in Master and Commander is the brig-rigged "sloop" HMS Sophie, operating out of Port Mahon in the western Mediterranean. Towards the end of the novel, the first book in the series, Sophie is captured on the Spanish coast by a French squadron led by Admiral Linois. Although the activities of the Sophie and her dimensions and armament were modeled closely on those of real-life HMS Speedy, commanded by Thomas, Lord Cochrane, the quarterdeck - unusual for a small sloop - was taken from HMS Vincejo, captured from the Spanish navy in 1799. Indeed, In the novel the Sophie is pointed out by one naval officer as being the former "Vencejo" - an alternative spelling - although in fact the Vincejo kept its original name while serving in the Royal Navy until captured by the French at Quiberon Bay in 1804. The Speedy, like the fictional Sophie, was captured in 1801 by Linois. http://www.ctbasses.com/misc/BruceTrinque/index.html#Sophie. The data below are for HMS Speedy Launched Length Keel Breadth Hold Tonnage Crew 1782 78' 3" 59' 25' 9" 10'10" 208 8/94 90 Armament: Fourteen 4-pound long guns and twelve swivels. 17. Im not sure if the Devs are still taking suggestions for new ships to be modeled before the release of the game, but a ship of the line a little later in period with different looking stern works, slightly different rig and more spartan bow features would give the game a sense of how ship construction evolved quickly from the 1700's to the 1820's. HMS Ganges was an 84 gun 2nd rate ship of the line, built of teak in the Royal Navies Bombay shipyard in 1821, she has a couple very notable differences in comparison with ships designed in the 1750s like Victory. Instead of main and mizzen staysails she has gaff rigged spencers on the fore and main that can be brailed in like the spanker. Her stern gallery has a distinctly different design than that of earlier days, and her bow is devoid of the fancy looking head rails you see on ships like Bellona and Victory. This picture was taken of her at anchor in front of my hometown ( Victoria, British Columbia) in the 1850's. She was flagship of the Pacific Station between 1857-61. She was notable in that she was the last active duty Sailing ship to serve as a flagship in the Royal Navy. She is a Canopus class ship of the line. She was in active service for more than 100 years.
  18. Here are the Plans of the HMS Leviathan in France better knowen as Le Courageux ( the original was hijacked by the Britan and from there plan they build some ships among other the HMS Leviathan) . A Veteran of the Trafager battle. A Ship which serve the crown 68 years. I would be proud to command that ship. In honor for the 4 fallen Sailors in the battle of Trafalger. 19. HMS Caesar was an 80-gun third rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched on 16 November 1793 at Plymouth. She was designed by Sir Edward Hunt, and was the only ship built to her draught. She was also one of only two British-built 80-gun ships of the period, the other being HMS Foudroyant (1798). Battle of Algeciras Bay She was involved in the Battle of Algeciras Bay in 1801, during which her Master, William Grave, was killed and buried in Trafalgar Cemetery in Gibraltar. Battle of Cape OrtegalThe Battle of Cape Ortegal was the final action of theTrafalgar Campaign, and was fought between a squadron of the Royal Navy and a remnant of the fleet that had been destroyed several weeks earlier at the Battle of Trafalgar. It took place on 4 November 1805 off Cape Ortegal, in north-west Spain and saw a squadron under Captain Sir Richard Strachan in Caesar defeat and capture a French squadron under Rear-Admiral Pierre Dumanoir le Pelley. Battle of Les Sables-d'OlonneIn 1809, she took part in the Battle of Les Sables-d'Olonne. FateShe was converted to serve as a depot ship in 1814, and was broken up in 1821. Off Cape Ortegal, north-west Spain, was a squadron of British ships under the command of Sir Richard Strachan. His brief was to apprehend Captain Allemand's Franco-Spanish Rochefort squadron and when a group of enemy ships were sighted he initially assumed that they were Allemand's. In fact they were commanded by Rear-Admiral Dumanoir-Le-Pelley who was trying to reach safety with his four ships of the line; the 'Formidable', 80 guns, 'Mont Blanc', 74 guns, 'Scipion', 74 guns and 'Duguay-Trouin', 74 guns. An action ensued in which all four French ships were taken. The painting shows the four ships represented as prizes being carried home to Plymouth. The 'Caesar', 80 guns, is shown in broadside and bow view, flying the red ensign from the stern. The holes in her sails testify to the action and she has the captured French ship 'Formidable', 80 guns, in tow. Pendennis Castle, Falmouth, is visible in the background to the right together with the coastline of Cornwall. Other British ships involved in the action are also towing their captured ships along the English Channel. In the foreground a small boat flying the white ensign is laden with people watching the scene. Several of the men wave their hats to salute the vessels as they sail past and serve to underscore that this has been a British victory. The captured French ships were all added to the Royal Navy, with the 'Formidable', becoming the 'Brave', and the 'Duguay-Trouin', the 'Implacable'. Strachan's action gave the final blow to Napoleon's invasion plans. He was promoted to Rear-Admiral on 9 November 1805 and each of the captains involved in the action was presented with a gold medal. 20. I really like to see the HMS Minerva in this game. That was always the ship that I liked. It would be great to see him in this game. Wiki: HMS Minerva HMS Minerva was a 38-gun fifth-rate Royal Navy frigate. The first of four Minerva-class frigates, she was launched on 3 June 1780, and commissioned soon thereafter. In 1798 she was renamed Pallas and employed as a troopship. She was broken up in 1803. 21. 'Adventure' 1646-1684 44-Guns Adventure was a 34-gun fourth-rate frigate of the English Royal Navy, built by Peter Pett II at Woolwich and launched in 1646. The term 'frigate' during the period of this ship referred to a method of construction, rather than a role which did not develop until the following century. By 1677 her armament had been increased to 40 guns. Adventure was rebuilt as a 44-gun fourth rate at Chatham Dockyard in 1691. She was captured by the French off Martinique, in the West Indies on 1 March 1709. Rare blueprints!!! Get them while they last!!! We badly need a nice 4th rate in this game and I present this ship as a good candidate for next ship addition.
  22. I think that this would be a nice addition as a British Capital ship. Based on the draught of the Royal George she has a certain splendor to her. Also she had 18s rather than 12s on her upper gun deck. If someone had plans or the capacity to model her I think that she would fit in well. I refer to the 1790 Queen Charlotte (Glorious First of June) as opposed to the 1810 ship of the same name. https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRcncJ8-xCmL4TSmjY2EomDPBx5VgC_e7_itrpI8ce81sMjAfwO https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTv8hFxu5aW9Gv7ln7wxwx_vKydBDvqDs80gMda3FEtdoPdSdmz http://i941.photobucket.com/albums/ad255/stuartwaters/hmsqueencharlottefigureheaddetail_zpsfbab21ca.jpg
