  1. The following suggestions should in conjunction with each other streamline the current ship list a bit: On damage: Reduce gun damage overall by 20% Increase carronade dispersion by 20 to 30% EDIT: Drastically increase stern chaser dispersion (at least 50%) On ship rates: Reclass USS Constituion and USS United States as 4th rates (acts as buff via rate-specific books and upgrades) Reclass HMS Indefatigable as a 5th rate (no gameplay effect except for mission choice and historical accuracy) Reclass Cerberus as a 6th rate (acts as buff via rate-specific books and upgrades, also historically accurate) Exception on this is the HMS Agamemnon, being a 3rd rate historically but a 4th rate in game. Not sure how to go about that one. I'd keep it as a 4th as 74s are just that much stronger... On ship speeds: Decrease speed of all 4th rates by 0.5 knots Decrease speed of all 3rd and 2nd rates by 1 knot Decrease speed of all 1st rates by 1.5 knots EDIT: Turnrates should be slightly nerfed for all rates above 5th as well. Desired effects: Find a sweet spot in ship survivability vs satisfying broadside effects. With the numbers stated above SoLs will still smoke 6ths and light 5ths. But battles between evenly classed ships should end up being a bit more interesting and longer. Counter the Speed-SoL-Problem by adjusting speeds overall. Sort out the ship rates to better fit the british rating system. Personally I'd love to see a test-bed round with those changes (and only those changes) applied. Exact numbers can then be tweaked afterwards. EDIT: Number example to clarify effect of damage nerf: (EDIT-EDIT corrected carro numbers) No it won't. Not in any way. Example: Teak/White Oak L'Hermione, medium sized frigate, currently has 6763 Armor HP and 6057 Structure HP. A 3rd Rate carrying 28x 32pd long guns, 28x 18pd long guns and 18x 32pd carros does at current level 4658 dmg on a perfect broadside. So two broadsides and L'Hermiones hull is gone. Three will kill it. With 20% damage reduction one broadside will do 3726 dmg. 3 x 3726 = 11179. That is still almost the complete HP of L'Hermione (12820 total). -20% damage on all guns will change almost nothing in SOL vs Frigate encounters! It is aimed at making battles between ships of the same rate last longer only! I just realised that the example above uses old 32 pd carronade damage of 152. The post of @Felix Victor (https://www.diffchecker.com/ZhVTfhlF) suggests a current value of 108. That will result in Broadside damage of 4262 for 3rd rate. Three broadsides at -20% damage then are 10228. I would argue the point is still valid though. Discuss! 😀
  2. This statement currently is, always has been, and hopefully always will be: wrong. Yes: Upgrades and Mods will tip the balance if the opposite Captains are anywhere near even in skill. No: They are not an instant win button. # I personally am FAR from being the best PvPer on the War server. And I also am too stingy, often times simply too poor to put all the best upgrades on my ships. Yet I still am a very regular player in GBs RvR fleet and tend to do alright even against players of my own skill level. I hat to start sounding like some of the old 'git gud' crowd but mods are OP is in most cases a cheap excuse....
  3. Are you sure about that statement there? Vasa - launched 1627 HMS Victory - launched in 1765 USS Constitution - launched in 1797 Even the ingame Wasa ( Kronprins Gustaf Adolph (62), 1782 ) which, as a third rate ship of the line is arguably heavier armed, was launched before the Connie. Don't get me wrong the Connie is an Icon but.... yeah... Not the highest firepower^^
  4. I think this is the recovery of the 1627 Galleon Vasa. The ingame Wasa is the Kronprins Gustav Adolph a Wasa-Class 3rd rate ship of the line from 1782...
  5. Ports are grouped in regions. All ports of one region produce goods from the same list. Some only one, some more. Every region also has at least one Port (typically the county capital) that consumes goods that are produced in the other regions. The further away the producing region is from the consuming Port you sell the goods in, the higher your profit. For more details check https://na-map.netlify.com/ and take a look at the two dropdown menus Goods relations and Ports relations
  6. Running an AMD RX-580. No issues at any point so far. For most new (ards 8e.g. RTX20xx or Radeon VII) you can always expect some temporary driver issues in the first few weeks. These usually get fixed fairly quickly though as they are very rarely exclusive to one game.
  7. Found an interesting little bug: On drop down lists e.g. "Show port relations" I can immediately jump to the port I seek by typing in the starting letters. So far so good. If I try the sam thing on the Port Owner lists "Select nation" and "Select clan", as soon as I hit any key the drop down collapses and ceases function in any way, even with mouse only input. Maybe it's an issue with them being dropdowns inside another dropdown? (Just wildly guessing here, not all that familiar with web-based stuff'n'thangs...)
Zitat von Admin: "Expect the worst"
  10. click 'f' on OW. your player info should pop up (current ships, how much money you got etc.) you can drag the ship card on the right hand side to the left and there the rest of your fleet ships should appear. you can access their hold from there. still works for me at least...
  11. "Frigates can no longer kill SoLs with new damage model...." ...or so they said.... LMM came to die, and so he did (no reps, no upgrades and he told us as much). After they stopped panicking (at least from what I can glean of their playstyle, reactions and aim) the other two made us work hard for that victory. We had 2 minutes to go and noone had hull repairs left... Carlos basically suicided while being on a phone call 🤣 Flat side to side on Bellona once = ouch. Twice = RIP Indefs were light builds with carronades.
  12. I am indeed a very special Snowflake. Thank you for noticing 😁.
  13. swerg? which year are you living in? Sweden is hardly a zerg nation anymore that's what Russia and GB are for 😛
  14. Maybe rare books could randomly drop from sunk players who have learned them already? Less need for killing poor little frigate fleets in big mean slow PvE-1st-Rates.
  15. Exactly. No point. The point of playing is exactly the same as it was before. Test the current state of the and give (hopefully constructive) feedback and try to have as much fun as you can while doing it. Why do all your riches, your ports, your loot have to endure into eternity? Did you not have fun in the process of getting all that stuff? Newsflash: This is a game! If it feels like work you are doing it wrong! Go and play! Have fun! And if you can, drop some feedback in here. ...no point in playing... smh...
  16. Call it lying, call it changing your mind... that's just hair-splitting. Redacting previously made statements that had the word guaranteed in them will always result in trust being lost. Speaking about trust: @admin I know editing posts without it being visible is your prerogative as, well... admin. But I strongly advise against using it on your own announcements without making it visible to everyone that the post has been corrected or wording has been changed. It does not matter what you change in those posts. It looks bad to everyone else who notices it. Just add a note like "wording changed to better reflect meaning" or something along those lines. Open communication helps a lot. Always. Gameplaywise, I personally don't care much about the XP-Wipe. It will not change much for new players on release due to the skill gap and DLC ships. But it also is not really the end of all things for the old guard. If someone enjoyed ranking up before, chances are they can find joy in ranking up again... It takes an hour or two to get up to M&C and sailing 5th rates. Go to Nassau, get a few cheap 6ths and have fun sinking stuff. You'll rank up again on the way. EDIT: Yeah @Neads O'Tune, what the hell do you know about PvP mate 😝!
  17. Either every AI trader bound for Fajardo has been destroyed, which I find unlikely or there is a different problem here. Maybe this problem is in the AI Trader spawn and movement patterns because in the Teak ports I regularly visit (being Little Cayman and Nassau) contracts are still being fullfilled. Trading resources above 1k buying price though have been next to nowhere to be found.
  18. Anoytic linked a post of mine in his suggestion. It seems everytime someone likes his post I now get a new notification that he linked my post. Which I already know. @admin @Ink Please! Make it Stahp!
  19. Hey mate, just a heads up: On Firefox 65.0.1 (64-Bit) (scrips and ad-blockers disabled for your page) all circles (e.g. Hostility, Tax-Income etc) are white instead of the previous red and green. Not sure if that is by design, as it makes dicerning whether net income is positive or negative impossible without clicking each port.
  20. So it's not just a select few areas. The question that remains is: Is this by accident or by design?
  21. Hey all, During the last few weeks I experienced severe lack of trading goods (at least the ones that make a decent profit) in every port I checked, regardless of the time of day. No contracts on said goods either. I myself had a contract in Cartagena de Indias for Merino Wool for about a week without a single unit being filled. I checked more than once per day and never was outbid. AI price rose slightly above contract once but was below for the rest of the time. The same happens for example in Santa Fe: Iberian Dried Pork which is low in price therefore in profit (with weight being 100/unit for all goods) is in stock but I have not seen Parisian Furniture in several weeks now. No contracts either. @admin Have trade good drop rates been lowered for some reason? With current player counts I find it unlikely that all the AI traders carrying those goods get captured. On the other hand ports like Nassau or Carta still seem to make decent money (perhaps on Teak and Cartagena Tar alone?) I know of several other people who have experienced this. Are there any other players more inclined to trading who have experienced this?
  22. Started in GB, took midshipman missions, won the first two, got sunk in the third... Next basic cutter, rinse and repeat First steamreview I wrote 35 hours into the game as M&C I think... Lot's of BC grinding back then^^
