  1. @Lukas97Austria Es gibt nebenbei ne deutsche Forumssektion, falls Du mit Englisch nicht so zurecht kommst. Ansonsten schieß mir gerne ne PM rüber mit allen Fragen, die Du hast 😃 General answer: Obusiers: Carronades with less damage overall but more damage on crew Congreves: Medium guns with lower damage and penetration but faster reload Blomefield: Long guns. More damage, faster reload, slightly less penetration. Basically right between mediums and long guns on dmg/reload but with precision of longs Navy Guns: Long guns. More damage (but less than blomefield). Exactly the same as longs in all other stats.
  2. These 2 posts don't agree with each other. Sure sounds like someone is a bitter betty I don't see the problem.^^ One can respect the effort something takes while disagreeing with the perceived motivation.
  3. Recurring upkeep costs on Crew (and possibly the Ships themselves) sound like a good idea to introduce another money sink to counter inflation. I like it. Same goes for provisions. This could have the added benefit of countering the repair meta by taking up hold space that would otherwise be used for more repairs. Fishing and conversion to provisions give ppl the ability to still sail very far, depending on crew amount and thus provision intake per day at sea. With completely limited ammo I see a problem though: It is another mechanic to the detriment of solo hunters and the advantage of gank fleets. Example: Hunter comes around to, well, hunt in a decent ship. Locals just start throwing crap ships bought from admiralty at him until he runs out of ammo. Once he's out, retag, chain and capture a now defenseless ship. One could argue that a good raider will rarely end up in such a situation by rationing his ammo and pulling out in time and sailing home. The current RoE and possible constant retagging however make it easy to corner and wear down anything but the fastest sailors without risking anything but a few thousand reals for some crap admiralty cerbs etc.
  4. SNOW sind international aufgestellt und setzen Englischkenntnisse voraus. Haben aber auch Deutsche dabei. Ebenfalls unter niederländischer Flagge unterwegs.
  5. Ping can obviously have an impact on boarding. However, I know of North American players with pings around 150 to 200 (The Last Templar/Arthur Dayne comes to mind) who mostly won by boarding their enemies even on the old UI, where you could see the enemies actions clearly. It's a mind game more than a timing game. On the rest of the game ping has little impact as micro timing in a game this slow is not really important, in my opinion. Battles are decided by tactics and anticipation of the enemies behaviour. A few milliseconds more or less make no difference to that. Seeing as the final exam can be completed without a single boarding action ping should have little impact on that as well.
  6. you do realise I am no longer a GB player? If both parties had fun in battle, good! That's what ultimately matters most. I just think this one hardly gives you guys bragging rights 😋
  7. I stand corrected then. 9400 vs 8800 is actually fairly close BR wise Br is indeed meaningless. just not in the way you mean here. Fleets are somewhat even BR wise. But the fleet with lower numbers (GB) also has only 6 first rates compared to 9 on the spanish side. I'd hardly count that as balanced in dps and HP^^ To be fair, I never even talked about how the battle came to be. Who taunted whom and who attacked is irrelevant. Calling it a *great* battle is in my opinion not really that justified. Getting the above result on even BR, even DPS and even HP count. That would be a great battle. This one? Decent win with no losses, but you had a lot factors on your side...
  8. BR 9400 vs BR 4600... truly a herculean feat... all fear the mighty spanish...
  9. Whatever happened during todays maintenance it would seem your fabulous map has not reacted to it well. Only shows a blank space. Upper UI buttons react but seem to have no logic function. (FF 67.0.1 64bit, tested it with noScript, uBlock Origin and HTTPS everywhere both on my standard settings and fully deactivated.)
  10. Correct the feeder ship it collided with is under Cyprian flag. Hurts to see this. It is afaik the last ship of Hamburg era of wooden shipbuilding. And only recently got restored. Let's hope it can be recovered and restored again...
  12. Of course... some idiots cannot help themselves and go for a round of personal standards limbo, so let's cut what is a great feature for everyone else completely out of the game....
  13. To all those player on this thread being upset about losing their Books: I get it, this feels like having your favourite toys taken from you, it kinda sucks. But think about it for a second: Noone will have those books! Therefore noone needs them to be competitive! There is absolutely no reason to miss having those books! All of us start on a clean slate. It's not completely fair, as there as some of us than can easily wipe the floor with any newbie they encounter because of their real life experience advantage but it is the fairest it can be. So many people are complaining about having to grind back up to their current state. Why? Why not just play the game, have fun with the resources you have when you have them and allow it all to grow back naturally? Surely you will survive not having a fully decked out port bonus gold Ocean with Art of Ship Handling and Gunnery Encyclopedia for a few weeks...
  14. well luckily the EU and GB economies are not just being wiped to "you get a free wooden saling boat, go on from there..."
  15. did you sail next to the given up ship checked hold and then sink it? because that would give you the kill.
  16. It is an RoE issue when any idiot random player can jump into any fight at will and thereby completely reshuffle the deck for those that are inside the battle. Example: Player A gets tagged by player B, who has his gank buddies incoming. Due to BR autobalance 1 more player can join before battle closes for B side. Player A may well be good enough to deal with two enemies on his own. If he isn't well tough luck... Player C sees the battle and joins to have a look what is going on inside. BR limit changed, Battles opens up for B side again, the rest of the gank fleet can join. In case player A was already overwhelmed by dealing with two enemies nothing really changed. In case he was good enough to deal with two he now has to deal with even more, while he can probably expect little help by player C. Yes reinforcement can work really well in certain cases. It can also be heavily exploited by alts and often enough makes it worse even without any alts due to random people joining battles and closing them when actual organised reinforcements (e.g.clanmates on voice comms) may have been on the way. Also sorry for going somewhat off-topic in tribunal..
  17. wasn't the current plan that rank and crafting xp get wiped but ship knowledge will stay? or was it only the learned books and not the slots... or was it changed again?
  18. Trust me, we had our fair share of tactical analysis fueled by hindsight about that PB, no need for you to add on to that... And no, me exploding had nothing to do with Rediii's commands. I caught fire by sheer bad luck and before anyone could cover my side I got instantly fire shocked by receiving two broadsides. After that the deal was done. I could do nothing but watch. I didn't even receive any more barrages except a few stray hits. Fire shock never went away though, so I finally blew.
  19. As we were hunting along the northern coast of Cuba we saw an Elite AI Surprise, so figured might as well take that note with us. Unfortunately after killing it we found that the ship note it carried weighs a whopping 500! So without throwing overboard all repairs and possibly some guns too my little Trincomalee was unable to take home it's prize. (Attached Bug report: NAB-90736) SO unless you only go to hunt Elite AI in excessively large ships (taking away what challenge they pose) or Traders (making it really hard) you have no choice but to see your reward go to the bottom of the ocean. That should probably adjusted. I am not against making them somewhat heavy altogether. But even a heavy frigate being fully overloaded is a bit too much, don't you think?
  20. At bluefields was more then 50 brits. Brits have enough players In case you mean the defense of Bluefields, maybe. I wasn't there that day. In case of our taking it back: We had a full PB fleet and maybe 10 screeners in lineships... Nowhere near 50 people. Bluefields is a county capital right in the middle of British territory, opening up lanes to many inner counties. Of course people will scramble to keep it that way. Cartagena maybe a shiny bauble but is has little actual value to GB. It does not even help in pushing frontlines further away since Dariena is in between it and Portobelo.
