  1. Yeah, you three guys are always hanging out drinking beers together!
  2. It's been good for getting things going though. A lot of players would have been cleaned out early on by losing a very valuable cargo on a 6-8 hour round trip sail. Eventually it does need to change and then it will require quite a multi-player fleet and coordination to access some national resources.
  3. I have not heard of any such thing. Do you just mean the fact that we didn't waste our ships contesting the port battle outside their front door?
  4. There were a bunch of port battles yesterday that seem to have spiked the population. I've been playing hardcore the last couple weeks trying to build my character, but I need to get my game hours under control very soon. I imagine the same will be true for a number of other players, so hours per player may taper off soon. I hope we pick up new blood to fill in those gaps. I do see new names sailing in my area every day or two.
  5. Did you play on the old US PVP server?
  6. I got the elevation screws and pleasure hammocks or whatever it is from a cutter yesterday. I have to sink over 50 lynx/cutter/privateer and trader brig type ships to get one of these oddities. edit: speak of the devil, the next battle I get a skill book off a lynx. No idea how to use it, but there it is.
  7. I got copper plating from an AI lynx day after the wipe
  8. That's not what I said, so I'm not sure where you're coming from. Check my signature. I was pointing out with a good-natured LOL that contributing to hostility doesn't mean you're going to get a place in the PB.
  9. You mean the 25 players who don't have to go to work or please the wife that day, LOL. It seems like this is bound to create bad blood between those few who get into the PBs and progressively start to dominate this part of the game and those who don't.
  10. Well my gripe is having to hire crew every time you select the ship, then re-hire them again and again and again when you change ships. Why don't the hired crew stay on the ship you hired them for?
  11. Yep, every time I switch to the privateer I have to hire the same crew to fill it up. about 800 gold every time
  12. such shame. bring down the hammer.
  13. Watching the french fleet emerge from the Dominica port battle, storm port Roseau, then sail back to Martinique yesterday was pretty magical. I was just spectating in a cutter, but I got to join the fleet entering the newly captured port and then sailing back home. I wish I had remembered to take a screenshot of the fleet sooner.
  14. Mere mortals like myself will be in basic cutters for quite a while.
  15. go to steam Library, right click on Naval Action on the list on the left side, choose properties, choose the Betas tab, choose to opt out of all betas in the dropdown list
  16. Are you using NA via Steam? I had to change the Beta setting to opt out of all Beta in Steam to get to the new servers.
  17. Reminds me of Queenie admonishing Lord Melchet on Blackadder youtoobs
  18. Latitude should be accurate on a clear night. Longitude should be vague. In cloudy weather you should have no info. In storm, you should be scared.
  19. "Night flipping" is something we should be working to avoid.
  20. If you think Elite "lacks depth" then you aren't in a good player group and need to find a new one. It is the player groups and community that provides depth. Elite is my main game. I help our player group spread an conquer new systems and stations, and I have my own pet faction that I help spread and conquer. The more systems and bases your factions take over, the more complicated that becomes. Plus, there are always new ships to buy and outfit and bling up. There are always new landscapes to see.
