Hotfix 4 for patch 10.00

You didnt play EVE at launch did you?  When there was less than 10k players total.   The servers crashed every hour on the hour and the game was a hot mess.   Hell I doubt you played during the low times when there were less than 15k people who logged in daily in the WHOLE game.

Now you have a boom in population and you want to act like EVE is the end all be all.  While I agree it has the best economy I have ever seen in an online game, CCP made it that way, they hired a TEAM of economic specialists to make it work.

This game would not work with 30k people, it would be to crowded, BUT 10k would be a good number over the 3 servers.

This game is still in beta not in release, if you arent happy leave.  Dont get childish and start insulting the mods.  Even I dont do that, I save my insults for the admin.

1. The times of EVE release you are talking about is 15 years old. Time moves on, same as game industry and player needs. Very few would be dedicated enough to live through shit of EVE or even "omg polished MMO WOW" release quality today.

2. NA is still in Alpha if you judge by text on top of the in-game screen.

3. Telling people to leave if they are unhappy about certain game mechanic is indeed childish=P Everyone has an opinion and their opinion if as valuable as yours. Devs ask for feedback and constructive critisism for a reason (not the obvious marketing one).

4. Agree on NA not being suitable for more than 2-3k online per server.

The Aggamemnon and Ingermanland are not heavy frigates they are 4th rate ships of the line.

The Constitution is the ONLY heavy frigate in game.

Frigate = 1 gun deck

Ship of the Line = multiple gun decks.

Well the Connies has 2 gun decks also

Point is, they were already there and nothing has changed. The patch note that stated the add of heavy frigs was a mistake. Its all good. I thought my eye balls gonna pop when I was looking for those frigs :)

I think at the time Trincomalee and Essex were regarded as heavy frigates as well.

You are right of course that Agamemnon and Ingermanland were built as line of battle ships, whearas Constitution was not.

Connie is a Super frigate, so i guess that is heavy frigate.

I do not see the need more labor hours. I would like resource gathering to cost less gold, cut it in half across the board. I have only come across coal, iron, oak, fir, stone block, lignum vitae log and hemp so far.

I also strongly believe that the resource/material requirement for the rig repair and especially the hull repairs needs a reduction. They eat up large stacks of resources and leaves me with few repairs.
50 Rig Repair is now 150 canvas rolls (300 hemp) + 50 fir logs. Why not make it 50 canvas rolls (100 hemp) + 50 fir logs = 50 rig repairs.
50 Hull Repair is now 250 oak planks (150 oak log) + 200 iron ingots (200 iron ore + 50 charcoal). 100 oak planks and 50 iron ingots = 50 hull repairs.
And because I'm capping my labor hours I would also up the labor hour demand for making them, so to craft the 50 repairs should cost 50 labor hours.

Visually, I like the AI fleets sailing around with escort ships. It really breaks up the monotony of seeing single trade ships every time.

Hopefully the loot on the escorted ones is even greater. =)

Yah it was interesting fighting a few in the shallows this morning.

I agree with the cost increase with store bought ships to help stimulate ship builders.

It is so much easier to make cash in this game compared to a year ago so I think we need to see how the economy works out in a couple of weeks rather than listening to players who are just trying to get back to where they were pre-wipe. I would keep everything expensive and see where we are in two weeks. If people can't pvp in a couple of weeks because of the cash strain then re-visit it. We need an economy that can run a year from now more than we need an instant gratification economy. Those don't ever work.

The only problem I see with the current system is new players who just joined the game can't level up crafting without building ships. So either every real newbs needs to become a ship builder (not realistic) or they will always be stuck with newb labor hours. This is a bottleneck. Every player needs a way to increase in craft levels without building ships to increase labor hours in order to help balance the need.

I also think re-deeming xp and levels was a mistake to test this new economy. You were never going to get honest feedback from players who are max level trying your new economy by trying to get themselves outfitted in max level ships. You should have cleared everyones xp, craft levels and items and had them start from scratch. You now can't trust any of your play testers opinions including myself.

Our clans new players are having a much easier time with this new economy then the veteran players are.

Strongly agree with you regarding rig repairs. The amount of hemp needed is ridiculous.

For hull repairs it is labour hours which are the problem. Just two level 1 buildings will yield enough material to make 247 a day, But you only have labour hours to make 147 a day. Of course one way to reduce labour hours is to reduce the material requirements.

Hull Repairs are 6.9 LH and 488 gold each
Rig Repairs are 2 LH and 378 gold each.

Are you also taking into account the availability of crafted ships vs NPC, because at the moment there seems to be a total disregard for the time investment into creating crafted ships, i'd rather sail a worse ship bought or captured from an NPC vs crafting my own because the commitment to getting the resources is huge now, especially since there isnt an underlying economy supported by a gradual feed of basic resources. Bringing back basic resource generation in ports needs to happen again, partly to give a boost to small nations but mostly just allowing people to actually produce some basic ships themselves, oak, coal, iron and hemp need to be available, where finer resources like fancier woods and small crafting resources like silver need to be restricted. Currently it just makes far more sense to just keep capping, I'd much rather craft my own ships, they feel more precious and fun to sail that way, thats why I worked so hard to be one of the first level 50 crafters.

If the Devs want a Player based economy, they need to entice the economy building players BACK to PvP Servers.  Currently, most of us are chilling on PvE and ramping our respective economies.  Again, don't kill your game by forcing EVERYTHING to be PvP 100%.  Without the PvE Mark to PvP Mark exchange, players like me feel they do not have a chance to be successful on a PvP Server.

Again, if pvp players NEED pvp all the time - give them a Lobby so they can get that.  Don't turn the PvP Servers into just another version of the upcoming "Naval Action Arena" game.

Prices are just scaled badly.

reduce 8& 9 cannons by 40%   drop prices on 7s to 40K   6s to 60   baby 5s to 90   real 5s to 120.

canon prices on 7-3 prices are ok.  because your gun sizes dont tier the same as ships you just base them of the prices of mats.

NPC stores should never sell for less than the player production costs.  and should never buy for more if they are within 3 ports of the production towns.

There should be a basic trader available in towns also ...not good ones just something small but useful for moving stuff.

Remeber the economy is actually working better than it should because people can TP to capital with goods again.....you know the thing that was removed because it was bad for PVP   thus there is no PVP

 How to craft a big ship now ?

Basically just craft them :)

Crafting notes (low/mid/high grade) are no longer needed for building ships thus the blueprints to craft those notes have been removed.

Captains

Patch was deployed to live servers today.

  • NPC Traders no longer have contraband status. That was causing a lot of issues when attacking them sometimes (due to their duality status). All regions have enemy traders assigned to them for easy privateering. As a result of this change some traders might have protection now (as they are no longer contraband carriers).

So what you're saying is, along with jack shit for loot and jack shit for PVE points, now we have to take on the trader AND it's escort.  Nice. You guys just keep making this game more and more solo/noob unfriendly.
