  1. Scans cost from a range of €20 up to €110: http://www.hetscheepvaartmuseum.nl/kenniscentrum/tarieven EDIT: technical drawing may be only €4,- per scan + €15 administration costs (once). Everything is digitally scanned and delivered. Not sure if the library is accessable without having to buy a ticket to the museum though. I live in Amsterdam, biking distance from the museum, but I'm fairly low on cash right now unfortunately So I would not be able to finance this out of my own pockets at the current moment. I can give them a call tomorrow and see what I can find out. http://www.hetscheepvaartmuseum.nl/kenniscentrum/bibliotheek|openingstijden

    Purchase?

    Yes. http://www.navalaction.com/preorder/
  3. Interesting development in this thread. My specs aren't all that much up to snuff as some of the posters in here (i7-930, 8GB RAM, Radeon 5970, DX58SO mobo), but I have no problems with this game whatsoever. Not a single crash.
  4. Personally I think global wind and weather mechanics should be a significant part of the game. So yes that could mean that when you want/need to travel to a location that you could face unfavourable winds.
  5. If the model will be good enough, they might be interested If they have content creators, they can focus more on game mechanics
  6. Just make it top 3 + wild card. Done with discussion
  7. This game blows Uncharted Waters Online out of the water
  8. Because of the description on the pre-order page (same mistake I made):
  9. I want to see the first Dutch ship enter this game Despite any legendary ship on the list.
  10. i7 930 @ 2.9GHz Intel DX58SO mobo 8GB DDR3 RAM Radeon 5870 1GB VRAM Win7 x64 Play on high 40-50 FPS, Ultra it drops significantly to like 15 FPS.
  11. It's a merchant ship, not a warship. It's the 'maritime' 18-wheeler of that time.
  12. First of all welcome to the Naval Action forums, "makker"! You can suggest all you want, but without technical drawings and data the developers cannot do very much. A few Dutch paintings ain't gonna cut it. Here's a list of all (known) ships of war of the Dutch Republic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ships_of_the_line_of_the_Dutch_Republic Feel free to search for technical drawings of any of them! One not mentioned in that list, maybe because it was never built, is the Aurora, a 32-gun frigate. The Dutch famous "Fluyt" or flute has also been offered. Along with the West-Indies ship the "Unity", a trading brig.
  13. Rather see more of other nations. We have yet to see a Dutch ship, or Danish or Swedish.
  14. Gotta spread that luv, man! Gotta spread that luv!
  15. I guess some galliots were: http://www.arthermitage.org/Pieter-Pickaert/Galliot-Geddan-Captured-by-the-Russian-Troops-in-May.html
  16. That's actually a different type of ship, but looks fairly similar because of the 'fat belly' design It's a "Galjoot" or galliot. Note that the poop deck isn't all that high, compared to a fluyt/flute. So this deserves its own thread maybe?
  17. Well that's what gunners (gun-captains) did in real life anyway When given the command to fire they waited until the roll of the ship would be most favourable and lit the gunpower right at the correct moment in the roll. Choosing the right moment was the skill of the gun-captain, by the shot type they knew what to aim for This changes nothing to the current system for the player, only the moment of firing. This could feel like "lag", but maybe with added officers shouting not unlikely? So when given the command to fire broadside you hear once, or several times (depending on the size of your ship) "FIRE!". Such feedback could also be given to when selecting raking broadside (front to aft or aft to front) once implemented, so when you select it you hear officer(s) shout something along the line of "RAKING BROADSIDE FROM AFT TO FRONT ON OUR COMMAAAAAAND! ..... STEADYYYYYY!!..." and with each click/button press hear "FIRE!", when the roll of the ship is favourable. Also now if the elevation of the guns is being depressed by the roll, you see the aiming bar being dragged down, losing your aim. This might be changed then into the limits of the roll. So if the ship rolls the cannons down, you could still aim at the sails, but if you click/order to fire the cannons will only shoot if they reach that elevation in the roll.

    POTBS

I was in (early) closed beta testing (even had to fax a signed form!!) and had, together with Mopster, the site burningseacommunity.com we planned to put it full of info and hoped to support the community. Still have a black t-shirt with the text "Support Piracy" and a glass mug for our efforts Joined a British Navy Squadron, that later got split into non-testers and testers. The latter continued as St.George Squadron. Some of them can be spotted here now too. However I lost interest due to the direction the game was heading (further away from sim, more arcade) and so I never touched it after release. The way THIS game looks however had my hopes up and it ignited a spark of my interest in this era and the age of sail, that PotBS started and I hope it delivers!
  19. Heh, thanks! I found it more amusing than annoying But it would be nice if the limit is (much) higher or lifted.
  20. Not always but sometimes I turn on 1.FM Otto's Baroque Music: http://www.1.fm/station/baroque
