  1. I for one would welcome the ship upgrade to add studding/stun sails when weather is really going to vary along with wind speed. It's a feature that is used from at least 1755, I'd imagine mainly on square-rigged ships of the line. Chapter 23 of the textbook of seamanship makes mention of it.
  2. Trying to make a lion-ish head for the anchor cables, but not yet succeeding For the purpose of showing the progress of the side decorations I removed the boards: And here with the boards and added the figurines at the doors:
  3. Worked some more on the side decorations and gave her a pair of anchors:
  4. Considering the limited resources (polygons) you've used, I think it's still looks considerably well Besides, it kinda "answered" a question I had regarding the staircase. I could not find an answer in other models.
  5. I am aware of the Statenjacht Utrecht. It served the same purpose, but for the bishop of Utrecht, or whoever was serving the political duties, since Utrecht was a diocese for a long time. It's the same (basic) design.
  6. Thanks for those words of encouragement. Let's hope we can get that dream 'materialize' Tonight, I've been trying and practising UV unwrapping/texturing a little bit. Grabbed some oak texture from the net and I gave the hull a quick "fix", just for the heck of it, but it gives a rough idea of the colour scheme:
  7. Well yeah, it's the personal vessel for the Elector of Brandenburg, later also King of Prussia It had close ties with Dutch aristocracy so the base design of the ship is Dutch, as mentioned in the thread starting post, but full of pompous decorations.
  8. If I'd have a dollar for every poly, I'd be pretty rich, I think Thing is I use Sub Surface modifier on every object, so most times I can tune it down easily.
  9. I felt that finding and using a model of a real horse would be overdoing it, so I decided to just create my own, from scratch. I'm no expert in equestrian anatomy, so please don't be too harsh on me I've also narrowed the windowed thingy in the middle and added some simple decorations.
  10. You mean this little thing by any chance? http://potbs.wikia.com/wiki/'Zuiderzee'_Yacht
  11. This book has also some chapters dedicated to guns, but English only though: With pictures like these (sorry for bad quality, just took them with my camera):
  12. Added the windlass (horizontal capstan), hatch and chimney.
  13. That's what surprised me a little. I was under the impression that (most) Americans were proud of their flag and country and wouldn't hesitate to choose the US nation in any game.
  14. If we can get her into the game. Let's hope Been working on the bow a little:
  15. Not much extra to show: added a pump, a bitt with catheads and beams for the anchors to hook behind.
  16. Does this site help you with anything? They're all Chapman's but many of those kind of designs borrow from each other anyway.
  17. Hi-Res of the same picture Architectura Navalis Mercatoria A collection of 62 drawings (6 web pages) from Chapman with VERY high res scans of 'generic' frigates.
  18. The port is very close to the point of pivoting, so I think it's all right. On any pictures or drawings I cannot see it any larger. The rudder doesn't move much either. The whipstaff doesn't allow for a lot of movement. And when I was talking about high poly-count, I wasn't talking about the texturing, but for the game. Here's current progress:
  19. What do you mean by that exactly? I'm still fairly new to modelling This is my second time doing so. First thing was this intercity wagon of the NS (Dutch Railways) in 3DSM. And thanks I've been enjoying making it so far. Just hope I can get it into the game. That'd be awesome
  20. At some point I think I'll seriously need to simplify these statues, because I think the poly count will go sky high otherwise
