Food supplies - advanced warning
LeBoiteux replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
If I get it right, food supplies as intended to be implemented will add an activity in OW (fishing), which is a great thing as : - it'll contribute to non-combat gameplay - and will populate OW with preys, a must have as it'll enhance OW PvP. -
That's great. But more than one Corvette / Sloop-of-war would be even better ingame.

This is an account of the ship (building, history...). Here is also a paper in French about the building of La Bretagne : http://www.persee.fr/doc/abpo_0003-391x_1911_num_27_2_1359- 24 replies

Crew management update - discussion
LeBoiteux replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
In general, players' ships automatically sailed by AI in OW from capture location to outpost or from one outpost to another could be interesting. It could great meaningful PvE and free up time for PvPers. -

Is this game just about earning as much XP/gold as possible ? A matter of choice. -
Crew management update - discussion

+1. Fleets, ship capture with limitations and no TP for captured ships would be 3 great features !!! Hired crew, crew cost and shared crew between your fleet/ship+capture ship too. -
Little things you'd like to see
LeBoiteux replied to BrutishVulgarian's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I'd like to have the cost of production of a ship I crafted indicated. -
@ OP : I can't understand how you could find current icon less visible than before : Mission icons are much brighter so you can see it from loooong distance + OW mission distance has been reduced. Often missions are near(er) the coasts. + OW spyglass helps Now, mission Icons are far easier to find. Maybe your screen parameters need some adjustments? Please no red or other flashy colors. White is fine.

Sloop of War Collection (with plans)
LeBoiteux replied to Niagara_1812's topic in Unrated and other light combat vessels
Not a specialist of English terminology but I think the 3-masted Sloop-of-war (ship sloop) is the British equivalent for the French "Corvette".- 6 replies

Post #50-55 : L'Aurore (1697) is a light frigate, not a Corvette. Late-XVIIth century French Corvettes are smaller. L'Aurore (1766) is a pleasure Corvette : http://ancre.fr/en/monographies-en/64-monographie-de-l-aurore-corvette-1766.html

That thread hasn't been updated since mid-2015 (see OP) and isn't used as a repository thread anymore. Oh btw Le Muiron is French (just kidding) .

Ranking up past level 10
LeBoiteux replied to Tyrant's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I really hope that AI fleets will be back and available to any rank someday soon. -
Nice model ! Exemple of a nice feminine figurehead from 1796 French frigate La poursuivante (The Pursuer / Chaser, not much to do with goddess Proserpina though...) : http://mnm.webmuseo.com/ws/musee-national-marine/app/collection/record/9806 Weapons missing (a spear in left hand and a shield or a bow in the right one ?)

A Sacoléva (or Sacolève)* (62 ft, early XIX-th century) That's a very common (even now) and old type of small coaster used in Greece and Turkey. No gun, but the plan is so interesting... See the high stern. Source : http://mnm.webmuseo.com/ws/musee-national-marine/app/collection/record/8941 Source : http://www.panteek.com/Paris/pages/prs91-342.htm One can read 1835 on the plan, but it must be the date of the drawing (by frenchmen in voyage in Greece), not that of the building. Finding by Wagram : http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/user/14746-wagram/ Thx !!! A French article about a shipmodel : http://www.naftotopos.gr/images/stories/n_Articles/14001/Bouzounis%20Article.pdf ____________________________ (*Sorry, I don't know the english term.)

Surcouf defined this kind of ship once as a port transport vessel, transporting goods from harbour warehouses to ships before their sailing off. During Lasalle's exploration, La Belle was used for her shallow draught and her (small) cargo space, accompanied by a fluyt (for more cargo) and a warship (for escort). Only 45 ton... She's not a warship (6 small guns). She's a small transport vessel. Btw, Le Gros Ventre is also a transport ship (built by the French Navy), not a trade ship.

Ships aren't the most important content NA needs, nor a priority. We can play with the ships that are in game.
