  1. Problem disappears if/when line-up is more substantial, ie when/if Ingermanland has direct opponents (other early 18-C ships) and BR range is more wider.
  2. Ingermanland, 1715 La Renommée, 1744 More early 18-C ships needed
  3. NA takes place somewhere between 1680 and 1820...
  4. Some plans from the NMM seem to be unavailable online, such as that of La Seine that you can see in Boudrit's book but can't find on NMM website.
  5. From Boudriot's History of the French Frigates, p. 211: - 146'4" x 37'2" x 18'0" - Plans after capture are said to be in the National Maritime Museum, London. - Another 18-pdr frigate is laid down in the same year (1794) also by P. -A. Forfait and with the same dimensions : Le Spartiate, renamed La Pensée in 1795. Maybe a sistership. - Plans from the NMM of the sistership La Seine (1793) : p. 202-203 + p. 190 - About La Seine : "Eleven frigates were built to these draughts (...) All answered their helm well in a still breeze, carried their sail well, had gentle pitching motions but very lively rolling motions tending to strain their spars. They sailed well close-hauled without distinguishing themselves, but were exceptional sailing large, and still excellent with the wind astern (...) not very handy in stays except in good wind, although they veered perfectly" (p. 191).
  6. But, even if bots aren't taught to chase effectively, making them aggressive would give PvEers in warships another way to enter instances than tagging, and thus would make OW in PvE server a bit more "realistic" (by being tagged, even if you could escape in 100% of cases). Any chance bots are taught to chase someday ?
  7. No. "Poule" as a pet name meant "Woman" or "Girl" in the XVIII-th century, not "Whore". "Whore" or more precisely "a mistress with luxury taste" is an additional meaning of Poule, used during the first half of the 20th century. No ship (especially in the Navy) would have been named "Whore" back in those days...
  8. So NA devs might quite "easily" implement two versions of La Mignonne, using the hull of NA Renommée (maybe reducing her scale a bit) and adding more modern naval sculpture than on La Renommée (like that, above, of La Perle) : - a 1765 9-pdr frigate with 26 x 9-pdr + 4 x 4-pdr on the quarterdeck - a 1793 razeed frigate with only 26 x 9-pdr
  9. Indeed ! Same tumblehome. L'Amarante's builder, J.-L. Ollivier, was Blaise Ollivier's son. Blaise built the 8-pdr frigate Le Médée (1740) whose body plan was very similar to La Renommée (1744)...
  10. Here is an example of 1760's french Neoclassical stern, that of the Corvette La Perle (1768) contemporary to La Mignonne. The trend is towards simplicity :
  11. In 1760, a new style appears in France, the Neoclassical style : naval sculpture are much more sober than the previous Rococo ornaments one can see on the 1744 Renommée. I don't have examples at hand. An interesting research...
  12. L'Amarante French 4-pdr Corvette 1747 - 1760 12 guns Dimensions (French feet) : Length between perpendiculars : 84' Breadth overall to outside of frame : 22' Depth in hold from top of the keel to the line of the deck at the middle line : 10' Armament : 12 x 4-pdr Built in Brest by Joseph-Louis Ollivier. Monograph and plans : http://gerard.delacroix.pagesperso-orange.fr/Ama/plaquette.htm Sister ships : La Palme, 1744 and L'Anémone, 1747. http://www.laroyale-modelisme.net/t12151-expo-et-conferences-au-pays-de-saint-malo Source : J. Boudriot, La Créole, p. 19
  13. It looks like it's Saussillon's master copy with interior design as made in 1765.
  14. La Mignonne (1765-1797) French, 8-pdr, 30 guns Builder : C. Saussillon (Toulon) 122'2" x 32' x 15'9" (french ft) 26 x 8-pdr + 4 x 4-pdr Razeed in 1793, converting her to a corvette. Captured by the British in 1794. Sources : Boudriot, History of the French Frigate, p. 78-79, 88 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_frigate_Mignonne_(1767)
  15. particular features for PvEers or particular way of using them by PvEers ? PvE threads could also be about the 2nd part of the sentence. The PvP servers are actually PvP/E servers, meaning that in those servers, PvP players, PvP/E players and PvE players encounter bots but don't react the same way with that feature, explaining partly the issue facing e. g. AI aggressiveness (bots tagging players), a major feature to PvEers but a plague to pure PvPers.
  16. ... to replace the PvE server when PvE/PvP servers are merged, if I remember correctly.
  17. I've noticed that there are very few threads about pure PvE subjects made by PvEers (compared with PvP threads). That might be the main reason why there hasn't been a PvE sub forum yet : "no" thread, no need of a sub forum... That lack of threads might also have sent as a message to the devs that PvE isn't their playerbase's main concern / issue. Thus it might be a matter of visibility and content. My only advice would be to create as many productive threads on the subject as possible, may be using a fixed presentation such as "PVE - title of the thread". Then, the creation of a subforum might follow.
  19. It's a back issue from the magazine Neptunia you can order there : http://www.aamm.fr/boutique/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=67&products_id=327 most probably displaying a ship model and/or plans of Le Vengeur, an article written before the book Sella mentions (1994).
  20. I am. I've started a thread about the French East India Company : http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/13962-xviii-cent-fluyts-of-the-french-east-india-company-with-plans/ If you wish to contribute...
  22. Best (but always too limited) source for the history of the ships of the French East India Company is : http://www.memoiredeshommes.sga.defense.gouv.fr/en/arkotheque/client/mdh/compagnie_des_indes/armement_navires_resu_rech.php There are some information on the armament and the service of Le Vengeur
