  1. Only if they 'pushed' the enemy ship into the wind, trolololol. A lot of the combat in the game is a very poor representation of what actually transpired in the 18th century.
  2. Do these swivels swivel? Because swivels that do not, hrm, you can't call them swivel cannons!
  3. I want to play Nelson, Jack Aubrey, the captain of the Acheron not a carpenter.
  4. Vaffanculo of La Royale - is what I'm planning on naming my new speed bellona.
  5. It would be nice to define the time period when NA is taking place once and for all, then you can make your own story in this sandbox.
  6. Instanced battles = bad, bad, bad. Probably too late to change now anyway. And if that's the case just leave OW as is, add autopilot!
  7. The principle of the instrument was first implemented around 1731 by John Hadley (1682–1744) and Thomas Godfrey (1704–1749), but it was also found later in the unpublished writings of Isaac Newton (1643–1727). Additional links can be found to Bartholomew Gosnold (1571 - 1607) indicating that the use of a sextant for nautical navigation predates Hadley's implementation. There is nothing wrong with knowing your position to within several nautical miles at noon every day. They should implement a sextant in the game, or, if they do things the halfassed way, as usual, add a button 'determine position' that makes you stop for 15s and takes a reading.
  8. Why not start with a mod rework? Some are just too good, some are just bad. Remove a whole bunch make the rest desirable.
  9. Search the forums there is an explanation provided instead of spewing this garbage.
  10. Make pirates pirates - a dangerous path but potentially a rewarding one. The thing is you make them to cool and you drain the population away from the nations so you'd have to make nations 'cool' too. Why would I want to play any nation when I could just rent my services to whoever and get more PvP that way, there wouldn't be anyone left to rent my services
  11. Because boarding is used as a tactic to immobilize a player for a gank. I couldn't care less if it's used in 1v1s on a sufficiently crippled opponent, it's the effort you put into the crippling part instead of just steering an enemy ship into the wind and wtfpwining them with 'boarding mods'.
  12. Because, as far as I know, that gives you the widest area to attack from and the ability to attach to the enemy ship. If you attack from the front/back the defender can defend with a much smaller number of men...
  13. Ship physics would have to be changed, boarding from the side only. I mean, this whole business of pushing someone into the wind and the velcro effect these ships display is just not conducive to good game play, in my opinion. This whole thing needs to be looked at.
  14. What are you showing here? A ship that's already been damaged in combat with other ships. Apparently we should have oars now too according to the picture. As a counter argument - here is a ship that could not be boarded despite being demasted, surrounded and badly damaged.
  15. To make pirates unique remove RvR from them, give them only Mortimer and the ability to have these 'hideouts'. No safe zones, how is that for content?
  16. No it should be renamed lead in your face, that's what you would get when boarding a taller ship.
  17. And this is also stupid as it would encourage bigger ships to ram small ones resulting in RAM damage triremes.
  18. It's a great stream, I hope @admin watches it too and can see what new player experience is like
