  1. I like that. Sounds like that tied into the action that is going around you would be very cool. I also like how you have posted this to advise players of what may be on the horizon. I believe that little things like this will keep player interest up. Thanks for all your hard work at improving this game and bringing it towards a release.
  2. I like your suggestions. While I think that there are a list of items/improvements, etc. that affect overall gameplay the developers are working on that perhaps should take priority over clan functionality, that is not to say that such clan functionality improvements should be ignored. It would be nice for some clan enhancements to be implemented by the point the game is officially released, or worst case scenario, that such improvements are done shortly after the game goes gold. (And this is coming from someone who is in a clan).
  3. I have not received an excessive number of bottles (I think less than a half dozen). Yesterday, while returning from a rather long journey to explore a wreck, I managed to find 2 sealed bottles on the return journey. I had never found two bottles like that.
  4. Do you mean something like this?: Now I am not sure a ship that was beached as much as this one could repair and re-float itself, but at minimum, you could save the crew.
  5. I saw the same photo posted on several other websites. I take it to be "tongue in cheek" and not intended to be serious.
  6. If you are a member of the Swedish nation, then I would highly recommend this clan (OCEAN). They have some very skilled players, and are fun to sail with.
  7. I had the good luck of touring on and taking a sailing tour on her some years ago when she came through Tampa Bay. It was a very good experience. I am digging through my hard drives to see if I can find some photos that I took of her.
  8. I am a USA based player playing on the PVP1 EU server. My ping rate to this server are usually around 120-150 range. I cannot think of more than 1 or 2 occasions in the 3+ months that I have been playing the game where the ping rate spiked up higher than that and caused a gameplay issue. My ISP connection rate is averages at 75+Mb/s for both upload and download. I can't speak for most American players but how many have had "massive latency issues" in playing on the PvP1 EU server?
  9. Admin, Thank you for posting this "roadmap" of development plans for the game. I think that it will answer many of the questions that players have and gives them a guide of what to look for and when to expect it. Please keep the players updated as to any adjustments. I am in general agreement with the various features that you listed. I am in general agreement with a merger of the PvP 2 server into PvP 1 EU but do have one concern: There are those (specifically from Australia) on PvP 2 that I have spoken with who have expressed concerns about ping issues. They are able to connect to the PvP 2 server with a ping rate of around 150. But when they were attempting to connect to the PvP1 EU server, their connection rates were in the 600+ range, making the game all but unplayable for them. I would hate for some to have to quit the game due to something like this. I am not saying "don't merge the servers" but simply raising this potential concern for those that might be impacted by it. (As a point of information, I am a US-based player on the PvP1 EU server and usually connect at around 140 ping, which works just fine for me).
  10. Well, there must of course be a balance between historical accuracy and playability. The trick of course is to find a good balance between the two.
  11. Scourge of War: Gettysburg is a very good game IMHO. I like it's level of historical accuracy and the games attempt towards historical accuracy. I think that the NA devevlopers are making a good effort towards historical accuracy (but there is room for improvement---and as an early access game I have confidence that the game will eventually get there). I have not played the other two mentioned.
  12. My vote is for Young to lead us all on a glorious fishing campaign! After all, it was his post that sparked so much interest in tuna missions.
  13. Already identified as a troll post. See: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/14324-great-britain-declares-war-in-the-united-states-pvp-1/ As you were.
  14. I agree. The clan that I am in does this. Clan shipbuilders regularly ask online clan members if they have crafting hours available. Those members that are available and in the port where the resources are can elect to assist by crafting resources into materials. This however necessitates their agreeing to do so, and them being in the port that materials are being crafted in. If the player is off doing something else at the time (PVP, fighting a port battle, on a resource gathering or trading run) then they cannot physically be there at the place the crafting is to be done. If your clan members are not available or even online, then I do not think that their labor hours should be able to flow into some sort of virtual labor pool pot. So I do not think that clan shipbuilders should be able to tap into a joint "virtual" labor hours pool. The current game mechanics allow this sort of 'cooperative' building to be done, but require coordination to do so (as it is/was in real life). Contributing materials crafters can currently use their labor hours to build those materials and then place them into the clan warehouse for later use by shipbuilders. A clan can make the effort to coordinate this should it chose to do so. If it does not work to do so, then I do not see that they should be able to take advantage of some sort of joint virtual labor pool.
  15. My bold emphasis above. I agree. Tossing cannons and cargo weighing tons overboard should not be instantaneous---it should take time to do so, AND it would require crew members to do so. If the captain issues an order to "Toss cargo overboard" and/or "Toss cannons overboard", then crew members should be diverted to doing so (as currently happens when should switch sails or guns on and off, or as crew members are diverted to repair parties and survival mode). If the captain gives the order to toss these things overboard, in the long run, it will gradually lighten the ship's load and increase speed, but in the interim, it will divert crew members from their normal functions, like sails or guns.
  16. It was a fun battle and an example of where good coordination and tactics may sometimes help overcome a larger OPFOR's superior numbers.
  17. Because then a player of another nation (pirate for example) creates an Alt character and uses that non-gankable Alt to transport valuable things like High Grade Notes. A non-gankable character is a potential loophole/exploit that some would use to their advantage. They already use those sort of Alts to monitor other country's national chat.
  18. >>>>>>> indeed he specifically stole that ship for the interview...arrrgggg. <<<<<<<<<< LOL, always playing the pirate.....I love it!
  19. My bold emphasis above. I would agree with your (the bolded) comments above. I would also how like to add that derogatory comments made by clan members in their clan recruitment thread about other clans or leaders of other clans should also be considered out of place. If it is a SORRY recruitment thread then why is there a need to specifically refer to TDA/TF, or to their leadership? Such comments have nothing to do with 'membership requests, or information, support or guidance' related to their clan.
  20. I could be mistaken but I thought that the European Traders mechanic was phased out in a prior patch.
  21. Another great ALttK episode. Please keep them coming.
  22. Have there been examples within the game or the forums where a player/poster was discriminated against based on their "gender identity"?
  23. Well, if it was done monthly or twice monthly I presume that there would be a delay in this; or a delay (maybe 2 weeks or so) could be built into it, so it would not be real time. Still, you could probably glean some intelligence regarding constant shipping patterns that might sometimes be overlooked. I still think that the idea is intriguing. Perhaps not historically accurate to the period, but then neither are the daily dumps showing resource amounts and prices at the various ports.
  24. For some nations, their capital city is located such that it is in a strategically advantageous location. Examples: the British capital Kingston/Port Royal is relatively close to their "front lines" (Portillo, Tiberon, Saint Nicolas) are a 15-25 minute sail from the capital. A British player could teleport WITH THEIR SHIP from a port in the Panama area, to Kingston/PR, and then sail to a front line trouble spot within about 15-25 minutes. A Spanish player could teleport from a port in the Yucatan to their capital in La Habana WITH THEIR SHIP, then sail to a front line trouble spot (Like Las Tortugas or Matanzas)'within 5-10 minutes. The pirate capital of Mortimer town also holds some key advantages in the way described above. For other nations, their capital is located in a strategically disadvantaged location. For example, a US player could teleport with their ship from one of their ports in the Gulf of Mexico to their capital in Charleston. The closest "front line" port (say Reo Seco or Walker's Cay) to Charleston is at minimum a 40-50 minute sail, or longer. I am not fully endorsing the original poster's proposal. But one has to admit that the national capital locations for some nations are much more advantageous than they are for other nations.
  25. Very nice video. I love the image towards the end of the video with the European/North African section of the game map. It would be cool to eventually see other sections of the world added into the game world.
