  1. Well as promised my topic about the 7 Provinciën the things steel snd me could find on the subject. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/16385-7-provinciën-1782/#entry312165
  2. Just did some more digging and i found out that the 7 Provinciën in January, 1788 is listed as a 70 gun ship including the Prins Maurits to which i think she is related to. https://books.google.nl/books?id=HlkVAAAAQAAJ&pg=PA74&lpg=PA74&dq=7+provincien+1782&source=bl&ots=y6vvJuk5UJ&sig=3MBrBu3a9l1tc6lAuZPKtF4hC_Q&hl=nl&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjN7teP_Y7PAhUKwBQKHeV5DQk4ChDoAQgjMAM#v=onepage&q=7%20provincien%201782&f=false
  3. the French couldn't take but they had to cower behind the Danes so..
  4. Well first of all Vrijheid not Vriijheit and there is only one Dutch Ship who probaly carried more than 96 guns is the Eendragt 1703, but she in the list of being in the navy but her service is questioned. what might be the case for the Dutch is that people maybe mixed up the ratinsystems of the Dutch and English Dutch rating system: First Charter 80+ Second Charter 70-78 Third Charter 60-68 Fourth Charter 50-58 Fifth Charter 40-48 Sixth Charter 32-44 and the English used: 1 rate 100+ 2 rate 84-99 3 rate 64-84 4 rate 50-64 5 rate 30-50 6 rate 10-30 but they never had a really consistend rating system. that a side When i did my part on the 7 Provinciën 1782 only than i realised how heavily armed the Dutch ships were. if the devs used the national pound instead the british the Prins Mauritsclass 74 gun Sol would have a rough broadsideweight of 1020 pound in game terms it would be placed just below the ingame 82 gun St Pavel with 1038 pdr which would mean that a dutch first Charter would have an almost equal broadside weight with some first rates like the Victory and the L'Ocean despite having less guns than them. but in game terms they would have between 30 to 200 pound difference between a Dutch who is one rate lower than of other country's at maximum depending on the amount of guns and pounds. example a Dutch 3 rate and a 2nd rate of other country's
  5. I want to start this topic over the 7 Provinciën 1782, 74 guns because it is pretty hard to come by at information but what i have found is not a whole lot so i will start with what i have. I have done some research on the 7 Provinciën 1782 because it is the only ship with this name who can be ingame despite the older ones who are too old (1665 and 1694/5) She is the third ship to bare the name 7 Provinciën on a Dutch warship, the first one is the most famous of 1665 and the second one is from 1694. She is a 74 gun ship, 2nd charter according to Dutch specifications and a third rate to English. What i have found is a model from a Dutch shipmodelbuilder. He has tried to recreated the blueprints for the 7 Provinciën in which he has used the model of the Vrijheid as the basis/reference, the model of the Vrijheid is owned by the Rijksmuseum. Here are a few pics: see attachments The model is being made by Cor Emke and is 1:75 Just to give you an idea what it might looked liked What i have further found is that the ship has been build from 1781 till 1782/3 in the Amsterdam Shipyard and she has been sold for scrap in 1794 in Hoorn. She has sailed for the admiralty of the Noorderkwartier (Admiraliteit van het Noorderkwartier) Further she has a length of 180 Amsterdam foot with a width of 48 foot and depth in hold of 22 foot The basis of following chapter are references who could help us to deduct her specification In regard to her armament: http://threedecks.org/index.php?display_type=show_ship&id=933 The Admiraal Tjerk hiddes de Vries was a ship build in the same year as the 7 Provincien. Albeit her being smaller, her armament falls in line with other Dutch ships from that period and time. According to the page her armament is respectively: Lower gun deck 28 x 36 pdr Upper gun deck 28 x 24 pdr Quarterdeck 10x12 pdr Forecastle 8x12 pdr In regard to her crew: In order to asertain what a possible compiment could've been, i have tried to look at similar ships from the same size/period. Vrijheid 74-gun (179', 48'9'', 22') 550 crew http://threedecks.org/index.php?display_type=show_ship&id=852 Staaten Generaal 74-gun (180', 48'6'', 22') 550 crew http://threedecks.org/index.php?display_type=show_ship&id=855 Prins Willem de Eerste 78-gun (180', 48'6'', 22') 550 crew http://threedecks.org/index.php?display_type=show_ship&id=854 Looking at certain dutch smaller dutch ships (64/68-gun; roughly 167-170 Amsterdamse voet in size), they would carry a compliment of 450 crew. However, in british service they would be compliment with 490 crew members. Therefore i would conclude: The ship has probably has a crew between 475-550 crewmembers including officers. 6. I know for a fact that a handful of people have tested it from the gulf to the east strait line and they have confirmed that it is not old school pancake but a modern oval earth. I don't remember the person but it already in early februsri/march confirmed or earlier
  7. if we show up in only our dutch thing which is 35+ then it is game breaking and as soon the french come with 45+ it is fair
  8. Well the same can be said to the french that we are breaking the game and stuff by showing in big numbers and as soon the french do it it is fair, logic so...
  9. Well first and for most is that the people who are organising the tournament are doong a great job the rules are clear and simple and yes the judge(s) are human and misstakes will happen but they try to avoid it. I think dispite everything it is a great tournament and the battles have been recorded so i think if someone wants to complain check first the footage. The only thing what i like to have chanced is the fact that the teams and players also listed in the last post so you kbow were to find further than that it is nice and fair as possible tournament Well first and for most is that the people who are organising the tournament are doong a great job the rules are clear and simple and yes the judge(s) are human and misstakes will happen but they try to avoid it. 10. Well first of all a big thank you to the crew and their patience for listing to the ideas of people. What i like to see is land in portbattle that would make it more fun, therefor also conquest mechanics the improved version of the politics the idea is nice but it definitly need some improvements Hopefully a dutch ship of course (pref 40 gun plus and or indiaman) and seeing the pirates not able to capture any ports anymore and personalisation of your ship(s), the paint is a nice start now maybe some sails and flags and see the change of the french flag to a more historical one( the flag below had been in use for over 300 years and was replaced when napoleon came to power) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_French_flags#/media/File:Pavillon_royal_de_la_France.svg Edit the flag is then more unique and also gives a better idea from a distance when dutch and french are close together broadside v broadside (already got a few friendly fire broadsides in to me thanks to the pretty similair flag)
  11. the nations will with eachother and the pirates will be the sponsers of the tournament and can clean up people after the battle? but on a serious note i would love to see a more seasonal competion/tournament
  12. well to be more exact is we lost effectivily one because the first one was a fireship
  13. Give them no quarter!!! but still always fun
  14. I totally agree with you hethwill
  15. Well pretty late for a war declaration
  16. Steel don't forget it is an old band with a lot of experience in pve and pvp battles. A lot of ships has also seen Davy Jones locker in PB and OW against the cost of a few
  17. Those who are insane are the ones you find insane. The insane are alround you but the quality may vari. Look to the guys who are closest to you those are too crazy to sail with and yet you sail with them *cough*steel, bubbs, shiv, nash,me to name a few*cough*
  18. Well you have also take into account that not everybody uses the british pound. I know for a fact is that the dutch had generally 36 pdr Dutch on the lower deck which roughly translates to the 42 pdr british pound on most ship of the line and a few other nations use a different pound than the british which makes it heavier or lighter
  19. They have unveiled their first gunboat(dingy) and it would be fun to wreck bigger ships in it dispite it armerment
  20. I know but has it all i shall do a bit of digging if i can find the 1782 variant
  21. The 7 provincien?? It has a proud history. If need be can defend it self with a broadside which surpasses the bellona's and pavels maybe even buc with ease and is looking beautifull at the same tome
  22. Well i believe that DAS and ARSE voted against the treaty so i don't why DAS and ARSE both aprove the treaty whilst they both disagreed with it
  23. because the Treaty is made by a single person and had no involment of the Diplomats
