TESTBED - Port User Interface Feedback.

So I got 2 Iron Ore mines at Little Inagua.

First building says:

Produced - 17, Collect -> Resource available 17

Produced -  43, Collect -> Resource available - 19

This was just 2-3 seconds after I made first screenshot. 2nd building is only letting me to collect whats available in 1st building.

Collecting resources from the 2nd building also reduces the amount of Resources Available in 1st building.

Did not tested on other building and/or in other ports (yet)

It should say how much it would cost me to collect 43.

Right now its just collecting from 1st building. If  I go to 1st building  I can't collect 17 or whatever was the number since i don't have enough gold, but it shows me correct number

In openworld I have a ship card for each ship in my fleet. But when in port I only get this 2 small indicator that the Prince is part of my fleet. That are 2 different ways of doing the same thing.  In my opinion it should be consistent between OW UI and Port UI.

Not sure if this was mentioned. If you have the ship crafting menu open where it lists the ships you can build. If you keep this window open and advance your crafting into new ship classes, the windows all need to be closed and re-opened otherwise your labor hours will not update correctly.

I suggest in the ship screen that  "Crew" should be replaced with "Max Crew". When players are looking through their ships, seeing the maximum amount of crew is a lot more useful than the amount of crew currently equipped to the ship, especially since that number will always be 0 (unless you are looking at your current ship).

I also suggest switching the placement of "Planking and "Frame" rows. When talking about ships, players always say the frame first and planking second and since most of the world reads from left to right, this would make things more intuitive and less confusing.

Works in both ways, just make sure you don't Overload your ship.

Trading Items (In port) is not working. No option to SELECT SHIP for trading, drag and drop from ship list is not working as well.

Currency(Piastres) Trading is working fine.

PS: Something like ALT+CLICK for fast move item from Ship to Warehouse and other way would be nice too

Yes. I saw other Pirate NPCs with Pirate Flag working fine, but why it says YOU CANT ATTACK FRIENDLY NPC, thats usually the case when you see  NPC of your own nation.

2 small things:

 1. Need a way to search here, its such a long list and you cant even type the first letter anymore because it will open a shortcut.

Found a ship with special Trim

Mouseover on the left does not says it has a 3rd, Special Trim

Equipment Menu on the right shows "Built-in upgrades 3/3" and then Frame/Planking/Trim

 I sold 2 Traders Brigs (Silver Coin in between Auction and Break up) and wanted to buy them on my Alt since "Trading Ships" is not working, they did not showed up in Ship Store.

Also, Ship Store does not shows you how many Admiralty Made ships they selling:

going through the UI over this night a few things popped in my mind.

A lot of the "space" issue I feel could be fixed by using the "box/slot" layout we have of the current UI in the new one.

so instead of a large space being used to show Hemp, the amount, and weight (in a ship hold or warehouse) I'd love to be able to make it into smaller squares instead of the large rectangles.

First impression of the new UI:

Pros:

  • Looks really good, icons are smart and good to look at.
  • Love the chest system allows you to gain some books,refits ect with missions and gives u reason to do them.
  • Pop up come back up where u closed them which allows you to have them set in a location and makes them easier to use
  • Docked ships are easy to repair and refit with men.
  • Each pop up has their own shortcut.
  • New Ui is really good for multitasking
  • Love to see the flag Option :)

Cons:

  • Chat has no UI and seems out of place
  • New UI can be a little overwhelming to new player as little description of the Tab use is given. (yes make it stupid proof)
  • A lot of micromanagement is required, for example fitting cannons require 3 pop up open, tho you then need open a 4th to fit repairs and rum. (maybe have a button in the Ship info that allows u to open the hold or even equip repairs on there.)
  • Crafting menu needs a little more description in their uses especially for buildings like forge ect.
  • Would be good to see youre gold coin balance (PVP +PVE) without needing to click on them.
  • In need of search bar in some menus especially ones with long lists.

shops need more spawn of basic stuff for testing. I know I bought up all of one cannons myself yesterday in pirates shop. No carrots in shop either, but that should be fixed for me once I get the money to do my labor for Econ

Get it from Chest or AI drop. I got Gunnery Encyclopedia Blueprint dropped from one of my chests

Okay I tested about enough as I could. I could not find any repairs or cannons so I could not set sail. @admin can we get some repair/redeemable consumables so we can test? 

Some initial thoughts: 

  • Lots of windows! this will take a while to get used to
  • I like the new UI. It is much better than the old port UI although I think it needs a few tweaks
  • My biggest complaint is the wait time when hovering over items. The new UI requires the player to hover over items constantly to see item descriptions/more information and having to wait 2-3 seconds every time gets old fast. Item descriptions should pop up instantaneous. My ping is 120 (better than most players) and if this is an issue tied to ping, I think a new UI format should be considered. 
  • Looking at the ship on the screen background is really cool, but I would also like to see cinematic views of the town. Can you enable the player to zoom out further and lower the camera to water level? 
  • I do not like the warehouse menu at all. I prefer the old system where you can see everything you own on one screen and organize it how you like. The only saving grace is the sort feature at the top of the menu, but it requires more clicking and scrolling than I like. 
  • The "Consumables" tab at the Shop reads "Consuma" with the default window size. An easy fix could be to rename the tab "Repairs". It is more intuitive that way anyways 😃 
  • More feedback to come 

 

P.S. I still want a new compass 😎
