  1. admin said they would turn XP off - not sure if its off yet tho
  2. Having seen the BR list for all the incoming and current ships id say Niagara should be the new top shallow water vessel. Remember there are corvettes to come - and they have lower BR than her. Yes she packs a punch, but shes quite fragile to balance it out. Also because of the extremely low freeboard its 'challenging' to time the waves and get all shots on target. I like the idea of an intermediate size port BTW - it could be an interesting solution - Sloop Brigs/ ships up to 12 pdr frigates could work.
  3. As a suggestion i think you should pin one of the 'how to use sails vids' on the steam page admin - not many of the new players look in these forums. they are jumping into these new shinys - too early and are whinging
  4. Good to hear. We try and muzzle out more outrageous members to be nice....cough griz......
  5. B24 - its in reference to the old OW clouds - before the mist
  6. Although i voted for the turtles (obviously - i mean turtles are awesome) The reason clan tags need to be visible is for clan wars - so others are less affected by the drama
  7. This and extending the new threads tab on the right of the forum screen to more than the last 5. There is room. A lot of times i miss out on interesting threads because some people don't look for the answer to their question before asking it themselves.
  8. ping equals the lag between your computer and the server. Unless you live perfectly half way between the EU and US servers the latency will be different.
  9. This may help http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/1734-list-of-posted-naval-action-groupsnavies-updated-may-29-2015/ As to how to make one just look at the tabs above the chat function when in game, find the clan tab and i think its 100K to star a new clan. To invite members find their name, right click and invite to your group. if you are the creator you can also appoint clan officers. The Point? to be social, to find further challenges. too many reasons to count.
  10. Be that as it may, it is still fact that british ships cut the line with studding sails set.
  11. Hey All I want to bring back another fun aspect of the arena matches - organised gameplay. In early ST (and very late ST when we convinced admin to bring it back) we had the ability to manually organise an arena match to truly balance the sides and make sure that all players were on the correct team. This allowed some epic battles to occur. TDA and TAA organised some very interesting matches where we agreed beforehand how many of each class of ship each team would bring to create some very dynamic and challenging scenarios. These organised matches evolved into the hodgepodge 'Traf' battles when OW appeared. But it became an exercise in futility to balance teams properly and more significantly - it was free for all. I'm all for the free for all trafalgars - please keep them in the large room by all means. What i would like - and am interested in expressions of interest - is organised team matches. we could utilise the clan mechanic by having a match room where clan officers can move people around possibly (if admins on board), but that may not be necessary. if enough groups are interested we could even have proper leaderboard tourneys. Are any clans or groups interested? We have an opportunity to organise the particulars before NA goes live. Any suggestions for streamlining the idea are appreciated. Dazed
  12. it may depend on which room you were in - i don't think anybody in the frigate traf had any issues. I had to relog but that was an issue with dual screens.
  13. i'm gonna turn up for nostalgia. Hopefully the alarm works - early morning for me
  14. Don't be afraid of looking outside the box for clans in game. Multinational clans have the added bonus that whatever random time you want to jump on there will be a potential teammate already on in TS. I tend to find either west coast US players on (and a few die hard East coasters) and central EU when i play which is what? 2 hrs ahead of gold coast? Regardless GL on your quest for clan. Cheers Dazed on a side note TDA is entertaining the idea of an Australaisian squadron. plz PM me if you are interested.
  15. just jump on the US shard - for NZ its 150/200 ish - but then NZ has slightly better ping for US and EU.
  16. Nice!!! She's in game! Congrats to the guys who got given her as a prize in a recent traf. - pity i couldn't participate, but you try getting up at 6am on a sunday to play on a computer ;-) As some have stated above, i'm not sure about the 18pdrs - its kinda an iffy argument - But probably a bigger issue is 12's on the QD and FC. There is a trend in all the ships in game of having far too heavy guns in those areas. There are many posts pleading for more reasonable armament on upper decks but its been set aside unfortunately. Just because a ship had a few bigger guns on the upper deck for chasers does not mean that a ship could fit that gun from every port on that deck without major consequences (hogging etc.).
  17. I realise that there is the lock deck function but that is not effective for intuitive firing while in battle and is more used to completely stop a particular deck from firing - like me stopping the top guns from the reno and pavel from ruining my aim. copy paste from my OP
  18. I have been observing this thread with disgust. You can cut the hypocrisy with a knife. In these large gaps between patches we must all admit we are not testers, we become players - with all the petty rubbish that ensues.
  19. credit goes to LT Grizwald, who between bouts of soberness creates these for us
  20. I propose a new firing technique. Battery firing. What this would entail is using a key (lets say L) you can change your broadside from firing all decks with one click of the mouse, to top down - which when you click once would fire the top deck, click a second time would fire the next deck and so on..hit L again and it would change to bottom up and will fire the main guns on up. This new technique will complement rolling broadsides quite well, but even more importantly will enable efficient firing of ships with mixed loadouts. So if you have your ship with carronades on the top deck and longs on the main deck you could hit L and select bottom up. you could then use space to correct your aim, fire the main deck and then use space to sight your nades and then click again to fire your whole top deck. if one deck is not loaded it will automatically fire the next deck that is loaded. I realise that there is the lock deck function but that is not effective for intuitive firing while in battle and is more used to completely stop a particular deck from firing - like me stopping the top guns from the reno and pavel from ruining my aim. Nobody uses mixed loadouts in this game when in RL that was extremely common in the timeline around 1800. i believe using this function will help bring people back to using this loadout. Ill admit there is another reason that people dont used mixed and that is because the game over guns top decks in most of the ships but that is for a different thread. For your consideration. Dazed
  21. Very well thought out and reasoned suggestion!! You have outdone yourself here mate. If these changes are made ill start doing trafs again. it would be awesome if we can get back to having spontaneous trafs like back in the day - and if this proposal is implemented it could happen. especially like the pop up reminders of upcoming battles. PS. yaay i got voted admiral!!!
  22. Im from NZ, have potato internet, and can play the game fine. The one time it wasn't letting me play i went offline on steam, restarted online and bobs your uncle.
  23. I remember from another thread that the ships soon to come in were almost finished. Is there any chance of a sneak peak at them now?
  24. Just throwing this out there: Is there any Australasians keen to join a world class clan? Kiwi, Aussie, or Asian. PM me if you are interested in joining TDA.
  25. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/6182-razee/#entry116993 been mooted before. have a look.
