Sadly for star citizen it has promised a lot and now has to fill those shoes. The introduction of instances and choosing how often you encounter human players already made many fans angry. Companies need to stop promising the world and delivering an island. I fear NA is giving in to some of the same hYpe issues when it comes to mechanics and peoples vision of the game as they see it. It's better to give out solid guidelines and produce a better product than it is to let speculation run free and wild and then deliver a game that doesn't live up to what some people expected it would be.
I just think its (still) time for custom lobbies to be worked on, if of course they can be made. Skirmish mode in other words, no damage points awarded, just custom rule sets for clans, testing, 1v1's, etc etc.
There will always be sniping on the Internet. It's a guarantee when you are hiding behind a screen and reading text the way you want to see it instead of hearing it the way the speaker wants it to sound. The only work around is heavy moderation or bans until people stop but there are always new members.
Where manipulation is bound it happen? If there is any system is has to be unbiased as to who is getting the award or title or whatever pixels make people feel better. Otherwise some people will have pages full of stuff and others will have none despite having as many posts or ideas or whatever it is based on. Anything that alienates part of the player base or forum goer base is not really good or necessary.
Not to mention most people here HATE progression of any sort so the fact that this would gain any traction is surprising and maybe a little, well, hypo.. oh nevermind . But then again there is crew progression but that's just hidden progression that every one said they disliked... oh nevermind.
I don't think a progression system is needed on forums. We don't need posts for the sake of increasing post counts. People interested in huge forums will come and stay, others will pass it by.
No need to waste time in forums when the game is in need of a lot of dev time in the next year or two
I'm betting that would be very taxing on computers. Not saying its not possible but probably not probable, especially in an engine not built from the ground up. Its one of those things that would be nice but there are so many other priories.
The key thing to remember is that is all pre-rendered and takes a absolute bucket load of power to render. Those kind of visuals won't be seen in a game for a long time unless we get quantum computing
If battles take a similar amount of time as they do in combat testing (which they should), so say 15-30 minutes for a small fight or medium fight. How far could a trader get within that time, and why would it even matter if it takes longer for that trader (A-B-C route on the bottom of the map) to get to the port than it takes for the battle to be over? Let alone for other ships to leave that port and sail to said battle. If you are a proponent of no fast travel it makes it all kind of redundant.
Well as we have seen shooting, ramming, etc is obvious. Greifing through wind shadow is much more subtle but arguably worse.
And to those saying have it only on enemy ships.. but you want realism.
Not currently in the game and not planned last we head. Main issue is griefing and trolling, imagine a friendly who doesn't like you sitting beside you so you slow to a crawl in an important battle. Not so fun.
Well like Admin said, the game will be optimized in the future. Whether or not that makes you get a good FPS on graphics settings that are good is another matter. Your best bet is replacing your CPU if you can afford it. Overclocking can help a little but it can't change the architecture of the chip.
Fires are coming.
Double shot has never been discussed as possibly harmful although who knows.
Customizable crew and crew skills in a way will be coming eventually. Exactly how it will be implemented is unknown.
