  1. Das ist genau der Punk, an dem du das dicke fette early access im Hinterkopf haben solltest. Denn was nicht funktioniert wird umgeworfen. Das Wirtschaftssystem (die Ide) ist per se nicht schlecht. Das Problem dabei ist die unfassbar hohe Inflation. Die sorgt für zu viele Probleme. Beispiel 1st rates. Davon gibt es viel viel viel zu viele. Da ich aber in sachen Wirtschaft seit dem letzten Gebäudewipe keinen Finger mehr krumm gemacht habe kan ich dazu momentan selbst icht mehr sagen als dass, was ich eben geschrieben habe. Es ist die Rede davon, die Capitässkills zu ändern. So dass man Skills logisch bekommt, nicht wie momentan - weil man das so möchte. Fährt man viel Constitution, wird man mit dem Schiff besser. Und das nicht in jedem Bereich. Wie genau das wird - keine Ahnung. Es soll jedenfalls nicht übertragbar auf andere Schiffe sein. Die soll der Kapitän (Spieler) auch erst mal erfahren.

And the original outfit without the weatherdeck guns I feel might be better sailors than the more so overgunned 98 versions which are full of topdeck guns. (altho mostly carronades - weight is weight) @Tickle: you should use more subdivisions. Its better modeling the curves with more detail than trying to get along with what you have set in the first place. Do not limit yourself by such This is an example of a 66 gunner I am working on. You can see that I use quite a lot of horizontal subdivisions in the waterline area. Because this vessel has a very distinct curve to it there. So I worked that out with more detail. Also you can do more vertical subdivisions on the bow. Also you can see how I used "weirdly placed" extra subs towards the stern.
  3. Seit Oktober kein Patch? Nicht sicher, ob wir das selbe Spiel spielen. Seit Januar könnte ich fast unterschreiben aber das stimmt auch nur bedingt. Denn es wurde der Testserver eröffnet, auf dem gerade die Struktur "HP" und Änderungen an den Hafenschlachten getestet werden. Warum auf dem Testserver? Weil die Heulerei gigantisch gewesen wäre, hätte man dieses Konzept, welches noch nicht überzeugen konnte einfach auf den live Server geschmissen. Ich weiß selbst nicht, ob sie die Idee mit der Struktur nun live gehen lassen oder nicht. Das bleibt abzuwarten.
  4. How I choose my ship I want to model? hmm.. If you noticed I made a lot of dutch vessels. Thats no coincident. That is because I frequently talk and discuss with Steelsandwich. All the ships I made within the last year came from a brainstorm with him. These are the admiral, the 20 gun corvets, the Euridice frigate and now I started jet another project which I will share once its time to. Also I always try to get as much information about the ships I want to model as I can. And since the dutch archives are full of infinite data (at least it seems so), it made it even easier for me. If you need input there always are the old ship polls from which you can get some ideas. just like this one: klick My very first project I modeled was one of the "swan class" ships which the community liked quite a bit. A pity I didnt know shit way back and the model was not accepted^^ If you want to there is insanely good information out there. Mainly in forms of ship model (blogs, reports, etc)
  5. I decided to model the pre refit vessel. Personally I find it a much more appealing design. You can see the Chatham model on the rijksmuseum webpage. The refit was to put carronades onto the weatherdeck wherever the structure would allow it. How would that translate into the game? A full 12pd cannons gundeck with the possibility to change to 32 possibly 42pd carronades. We all know we wont get split gundecks. Cause in RL it was a mix of cannons and carronades. Hence why I chose the original version. 15 x 36pd | 15 x 30pd | 9 or 10 x 12pd. 78 or 80 guns. (I am not 100% sure if two or three guns on the forecastle. I modeled three.) In case of 78 to 80 guns this vessel might have the chance to be classified as (heavy) 3rd rate. Basically what the Pavel and Bucentaure were meant to be. If you wanted to have the refitted version you only have to put loads of carronades between the forecastle and the quarterdeck. I prefer what Ive done
  6. well. no^^ Modeling decorations requires a few things I dont have: the skill to do it low poly. (baking textures - making it look realistic) and the tech requirements.   7. pardon me? What do you think is missing? I know I need to model the toilets on the bow. Other than that my own work there is done. I am not doing decorations. I do not have the skill and the devs will apply their own decoration if this ship was ever taken. The stern is the same deal. I am pretty damm proud of how that part worked out. And since you can see how ingame models dont have any kind of cabins modeled I wont do it, too. Maybe as a gimmic but its not needed to call that vessel completed.

  9. I actually do have an upload of this vessel on sketchfab. However since it has no textures applied the webpage won't release it for the public. Maybe it's a bug. I have to read into it. @ Intrepo: I did the Wasa way back about a year ago. The devs accepted her and she will make it ingame eventually. But my modeling skills back then were a lot less than they are today. The devs will have done a lot optimization to the model. And boy I am excited about her.
  10. So I went ahead and modeled that ship anew - completely. No I have no confirmation that this vessel is gonna be ingame. But I had a lot of fun modeling that lady once again since I really feel I improved my ability to model ships a lot. I am not 100% done but already the vessel looks beautiful. No colours this time. Only texture I use is transparency for the stern windows. Some rudementary lighting and some crude guns on the weatherdecks.
  11. make useful groups. for example: I have my handrails and wales in one object. I merge all headrail parts into one object. But dont make one huge mess^^ If you send that ship in the devs will be happy if they see you made logical object groups instead of one big ass blob
  12. you can do different things. You either use the boolean modifer (difference option). Make blocks that represent the cutting points. like this: On the right you can see all the booleans I use to simulate the gunports and hawse holes. However that modifier messes your mesh to a level that is obscene. Sadly for some cuts you will end up using it still. And for a purely visual preview the boolean mod is super nice since you do not have to apply it to see the effect. The better method (for me at least) is cutting. Using the knife tool. (press 1:"k": knife tool; 2: "z" to cut through the whole mesh) My systematic goes thus: I join the gunports with my hull mesh. select the two objects and click "ctrl + j". Now you have one object. The boolean for the gunports will also no longer work since the reference for that is gone. Also note that your new object will apply all mods from the one you selected at last! Now you use the knife tool and follow the edges of the gunports. That makes sure your ports are all identically sized and even. After the cut you delete the block and optimize the new mesh you now created. Make sure you always only ever have faces which are maximal 4 points (vertices) big. Do not create "n-gon" wiith 5 or more vertices! Thats how I do it. Any more questions? Feel free to PM me. I can also come to any teamspeak if you need some advice regarding ship modeling.   13. "gunports" that is But I would advice you to cut them later. Its very easy to model along the hull when it still i in one piece. Means you have an easier time modeling the wales and all that needs to be attached to the hull. When your gunpots are cut you might have a harder time figuring all that out. What you can do is use the boolean modifier as a preview. But editing the hull is a lot easier when it still is in one piece so tosay. Other than that your vessel is turing out better after each new post
  14. T1ckl35 your bowrail end should not be seen. The rail is merging into the galeon. When you use the curve modifier make sure you tilt them accordingly. Not sure if there are other plans around. Not sure what to think of it anyways. Someone help?
  17. das ist so gewollt. Denn früher war das so: Du hast ein 1v1, 2v2 etc. aber: der Gegner hatte in der unmittelbaren Umgebung nochmal 2-10 Freunde stehen, die sich dem Kampf angeschlossen haben. Das funktioniert jetzt nicht mehr ohne weiteres. Ob das so bleibt weiß man nicht. Aber das einzige, was sich geändert hat ist, dass die heimliichkeit beim Ganken weg ist.
  18. Altho I would be more than happy to say: yes - its nothing but a rumor. I build this vessel with the intention to send it in to the devs. But that didnt happen. You will be most likely going to be able to vote on this vessel in the next ship poll. Wich is announced soon (TM) (-> end of january +/-)

  20. so lange es keine offizielle Aussage von den devs gibt wird kein Wipe stattfinden. Ich hab keine Ahnung, wer diese Gerüchte säht. Aber sie sind nicht wahr. Wenn ein Wipe kommt werde ich das hier im Forum groß mit fetten buchstaben ankündigen.
  21. Its not about shipstats Its about the remodeling of the complete ship. Compare her ingame appearance to the real thing. You will see that we are sailing a "nicer box" (sry for the exxageration) and the real thing looks more like our ingame belle poule in regards to her curves. What I personally dont agree with is the priorisitation of the americans bevore nations which dont even have one single vessel representing them. The dutch nation is not represented and we are talking about a ship bundle for the americans which already make up 20% of the ship lineup. (ignoring the variants - only counting the basic ship models) The danish get one vessel. The swedes, too. The spanish have one vessel. But they did play a role in shipbuilding throughout the 18th century. All in all your changes sound good. One concern: removal of missions. What do the PvE players get in return? Do you keep missions on the PvE server?

I put a name onto her. And Carronades. And other stuff. I will be doing a seperate thread about this vessel once I am ready to. means the bowsection needs more detail and some stuff on the deck is missing. ship bell ant the like.
