  1. Pretty sure there's an ignore feature...?
  2. From a mission suggestion standpoint, I really can't emphasize enough that worldbuilding will make all the difference. EVE Online epic story arcs are a good example of this; chains of 10-12 very basic missions (go here, deliver this, kill target, etc) but the flavor built around every mission makes it memorable and exciting. My suggestion would be to have a good 'ole tavern in ports where you can hire a guide. Different guides have different personalities and offer different mission lines based on their archetype: Sneaky/Smuggler missions Military/Patriotic missions Privateer/Raider missions Trading/Crafting missions
  3. This should be covered in the current battle missions but it's worth showing how to purchase/equip consumables for that purpose. Don't forget to teach new players how to navigate the OW. It's super tricky when you're taking your first steps. Not a huge fan of that idea, personally. At all. Don't force people to do that. This sounds great! The thing I could most highly suggest is to hire someone fluent in English (or get a volunteer) to write some decent lines for the tutorial. You'd have such better worldbuilding if these concepts were delivered by a character, rather than just vague instructions flashing in the middle of the screen. Doesn't have to be voiced, just a good perspective. For example: Find and Capture a Trader in the Open World: X Find and Sell a Trading Good in your Capital: __ versus Your first mate sidles up to you. "Oy, sir. The men be itchin' for a prize. Mayhaps we could find some unfriendly seas and nab ourselves a nice, juicy merchant boat?" (Sail near enemy ports and look for trader ships, and capture one.) Your crew cheers with victory as the trading vessel surrenders to you. "Capt'n! Let's take her to [insert contextual capital] and get our prize!" (Return to your Capital with the captured ship)
  4. I'd like that! Although I assume at some point the entire map UI will be redone to get on par with the OW and port UIs.
  5. I'd agree that you should get rewards for damage done even if they escape, but if the enemy just flat-out runs away without taking damage I wouldn't consider that a rewardable event.
  6. Well, the storm mechanics in Sea of Thieves are absolutely amazing, but in this game I feel like it would just be irritating.
  7. Methinks everybody has their own "required" perks they wish were included. I always take Emergency Master, for example.
  8. Purchasable item from the Admiralty for 400 doubloons.
  9. Translation: Can alt accounts can be used for doubloon farming for the next ten days?
  10. I have to really emphasize, especially with the new patch, finding a clan. Or even just asking in Nation chat if anybody wants to group up and go hunting. Make some friends, jump in a discord channel, make terrible mistakes and find enemy holds full of goodies, repeat.
  11. "Green Zone" being the Reinforcement Area immediately surrounding your starting cities, @pej16. There's a symbol right above your minimap that you can hover your cursor over, and it will tell you about the type of zone you are in, if any.
  12. @pej16 My big recommendation for now is to do the tutorials. Upon completing the middle 4 tests you'll be given rewards and ranked up several times, which will at least get you into a 6th or 5th rate ship quickly. Try and ask around for help or clan recruiters so you can participate in some group ventures.
  13. Dudebro. Add more low-level missions to cities new players actually spawn in. The concepts y'all take for granted are completely unknown to new players.
  14. If an allied player I don't know comes in, engages in my fight without permission and is trying to steal loot, regardless of whether or not he "helped," I'm gonna fill him full of holes. This just seems like common gaming sense. The concept of needing screenshots and evidence and a "forum trial" to defend such an action is ridiculous.
  15. Every time this happens to me, exiting out of the menu and waiting 30 or so seconds, then trying again, seems to fix it.
  16. Perhaps! I was having trouble thinking of a meme to capture the hilarity of generally arrogant devs with poor English and bad communication skills, against a horde of middle-aged neckbeards that freak out at the slightest hint of disadvantage or change. It's a sticky wicket.

    Exchange rate

Your conversion rate sounds about right? Did your friend have a significant number of production buildings, crafting materials, etc?
  18. This is, of course, the most effective way to guarantee zero action.
  19. I like this better than DLC ships, but not as much as DLC cosmetics.
  20. That would be cool to me but I can see how it may have some annoyances. Also I'm unsure if the game could support that mechanically.
  21. Oh I'm not ruling it out, but hoping the game has so much success as to warrant an aussie server is right up there with me hoping Trump chokes to death on a cheeseburger. Lovely, but not likely.
