  1. Wooot!!!!!! Make 7th rates great again :D, good for new players and old :).
  2. Typical conversation in nation chat: New player: "Enemy player at capital!" player 1: "Cool I need a fight what ship is he in?" New Player: "Not sure it's got red sails though" ....... Nation chat goes silent Random Player: "Bugger that I not losing anymore of my life chasing them" Player 1: "Let loose a whole broadside on Bellona on last Req i met and scored 2 hull hits" New Player: " He tagged me and i called rienforcements and got a... mercury" Player 2: " Thankyou for your service."
  3. Ahem i've admitted my herc is op :). Something might be off with hitboxes on req and herc, or perhaps is angles for deflect is off some? Just from what i have experienced both being attacked in herc and shooting at req, could be wrong of course but "feels" that way.
  4. Yes it also should do 15.5 knts upwind as a lo/wo build, and have droppable sea mines and a harpoon missile battery in her stern
  5. Aye they a pain In a fast build snow though can outrun them directly with wind, been told taking front mast on req best thing to do but i need more demast practice :D. Hunting in small ships though is cheap and fun, and is scary when a broadside comes in at your masts lol. Just try it, isn't as easy as some make it look :).
  6. Go out in small ships and hunt some, watch what other captains do against you. Is how i learn anyway, although i'm no Palatinose i try to learn from fights and you do pick things up. Many people, myself included often state a case without looking at the other side. Best way is to try and emulate what they doing to yourself and learn from problems you encounter doing it. Also depends on refits/knowledge they running and worth looking after a difficult fight to see what was different about that ship, is all learning and practice.
  7. If they in a snow/herc keep your butt upwind that way you can turn in on them and loose a full broadside as they come upwind (really slowly). Also can go backwards as they come to try rake and cut them off with only option for them to tack back through or run down your broadside. I'm not great at it though, but if you go out in smaller ships you soon find out if they know what they doing, and if spot early enough perhaps escape and leave them be, it's not always a turkey shoot. One battle i remember was with William Death man he destroyed me pulling my snow upwind to get to his stern, before i knew it my poor snow was a canoe. Fighting bigger ships in smaller ones isn't as easy as people who not tried imagine, biggest mistake people make in fights are to split when fighting smaller ships, staying together is best defence in those occasions. Upwind ships though are a pain, still examining them :D.
  8. Best way to learn how to counter is to go out in smaller ships and hunt down experienced player. Is cheap and quite interesting to do role reversal.
  9. I think the suggestion for diminishing returns on rakes makes sense, but in return to balance perhaps make so that when in crew shock DD doesn't work would make sense to balance. Don't diminished returns already happen though, maybe change taper of loss. Ships were stern raked in history though, thats where the phrase "crossing the T" comes from i believe. Although was also bow as stern and bow were weakest parts of a ships build.
  10. Maybe if you sail smaller ships for a bit to see how "easy" sterncamping is, and perhaps learn from how people counter yourself in the oppsite situation. You will quickly find that guys who know what they doing are no easy meat to smaller ships.
  11. I wholly endorse a vacation to Key West, my first impressions were that it reminded me quite a lot of the rock of Gibraltar.
  12. Looks more like a few of the galley's fireshipped the bigger ships tbh.
  13. I'm more amazed at how many swedish alts he seems to perhaps have.
  14. When fighting the Req something seems wrong with sail hits, chain seems to fly through the sails and do no damage sometimes. Guess is a hitbox issue? Both herc and Req when loaded out with carro's are to powerful compared to other ships in shallows, perhaps lowering class of carro's would even up some ground. The crew levels ae also an issue, especially crew space, hammock, light ship hammock Req builds which provides an insane crew amount. Perhaps making Req a 5th rate like the Hercules would partially solve this as would mean light ship hammocks no longer used. Lastly Port battles are a bit of a joke now, so perhaps exclude the DLC from RvR especially shallow ports. Shallow port battles are where newer players can participate in RvR and now is not an option unless you have DLC. I would also make Nassau Patrol area max 6th rates and move Req to 5th rate to again allow newer players to take part in Nassau patrol.
