Port Bonuses need removing ASAP
Papillon replied to Ed Rose's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
How about that, another great argument to eliminate all this clan ruling garbage and get back to what the game was founded on, nation play. -
Russia so bored they try to kill off smaller nations?
Papillon replied to Carl von Lichtenfels's topic in National news
Pretty much did. Generally because of players like yourself. -
The Game Then, and Now
Papillon replied to Quiet Assassin's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Resource trading was killed whether you wish to admit it or not. IMHO it was done deliberately to eliminate that type of player from the pvp server. If not, then you would see some discussion of recovery of that game-type by devs. Instead you get pretty much silence, which I personally interpret as a shrug. OK, if that's the development philosophy then so be it. BUT, it should not apply to the PVE server. Resource trading on that server at least should be a real and viable playstyle. -
Another mechanic for repairs

This thread has run it's course. Just play the game already and quit whining, or quit the game. -
Nations should dominate this game. Not clans. 100% agree. Clan control causes more toxic play, not less. But devs seem ok with that, and this is what we got. Unfortunately. Pirates in the AoS are the only group you could consider a clan. Ironically, the devs have made them a nation, and made the nations into clans.

Dockhoppers
Papillon replied to Gregory Rainsborough's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
But these players aren't Dockhoppers. They are Dockpoppers. -

Papillon replied to Gregory Rainsborough's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Since he didn't bother to respond to any of the questions why this is proposed, we can safely assume it's just another selfish request for 1 player to have the game specifically tailored to only their own playstyle - screw gameplay, common sense, history of EA, or anyone else for that matter. It's a griefing perk, nothing more. -

Why? -
My phone annoys the heck out of me because for some reason, it continues to turn back on all those notifications that I keep turning off over and over again. So annoying. However, I completely agree with OP. I can't imagine why something so fundamental as chat notifications are not in-game. Why not devs? Basic functionality and quality of life.

Maybe we need elite fleet ship captains that obey 100% of the time.
-
Can't explain ship #2 but I have had more than 1 fleet ship sink due to failure to obey. Only thing you can do is intervene like you did, and hope they begin to obey.
-
Unfortunately fleet ships do frequently ignore orders, in my experience it happens mostly after they begin engaging.
-
Leakage rate should be based upon two things IMO: size of hole in ship, and depth below waterline of [sinking] ship (because of hydrostatic pressure on haul increasing as depth becomes greater).

STRONG SUGGESTION FOR POPULATION SURVIVAL
Papillon replied to Atreides's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Pretty sure it was clear to everyone. If others don't read the entire thread that's their own fault for taking things out of context. You can't argue that historically so many design elements of the game have been dropped by devs without warning, so he's getting ahead of the game based on the history of development. That's smart commenting, not being unclear. On topic, I happen to agree with him on that; aggression by all AI would probably be a mistake [if it were implemented that way]. -
STRONG SUGGESTION FOR POPULATION SURVIVAL
Papillon replied to Atreides's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
You guys realize that both the pvp on-off flags and the pvp-only areas have been discussed several times already in the last few years? -
Can't imagine how we've missed adding China to the game.

Naval action Fleets maxi capacity
Papillon replied to Celtiberofrog's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Agreed. -
This thread is on the wrong side of game development. If you wanted to clone a pig instead of a sheep, you would've had to change that when the DNA was first introduced, i.e. before release while the game was under development. i.e. scope of thread alters the entire game, it isn't going to happen. However, I would love some of these to be true in NA.

Good. Cheating never prospers.

This is a great solution. Thank you for suggesting. I won't be surprised though if it falls on the usual deaf ears. Personally I think the whole port bonus thing should get sealed in a concrete bucket and sunk to Davy Jones' locker, but if they are insistent on that stupid system, then this suggestion would be a great compromise.
