  1. Permits are too rare. There should be a way to buy permits again, at a reasonable rate, of course. I used to be able to acquire ships of any sort with a little work, but now it seems impossible to get what I want, which is USS Constitution, which is why I bought the game in the first place. I'm sure everyone else has their favorite that seems irreplaceable, and are scared to risk it in a fair fight. Please have mercy! Maybe a captured ship could be traded to the Admiralty, at standard prize shares, and could build up credit towards the purchase of said permits. If I remember correctly, the Captain got an eighth share of the value, the crown (Admiralty) got so much share, even the lowly powder monkeys would receive a pittance! We beseech you kind Sirs!
  2. Hi Gents and @admin, seriously, cant think about a worser and more imbalanced implementation of different wind speeds - Think about 1st Rates who picked up a Wind Boost anywhere, catch a Privateer upwind... - think about Fir/Fir Speed built ships easily get catched by Live Oak/White Oak tanky ones ---> overall, just consider that this wind thing MESS up any balance with Ship Builds and different Ships because your OW Speed depends not anymore how your ship got crafted, but only who picked up the better wind boost It just cant be that Players in the SAME spot of the world have DIFFERENT wind speeds !!! Either make it so that EVERYONE in that region gets the boost...or delete the feature completly ...very simple
  3. Hi Guys, @admin and @Ink, EDIT by 09.10.19: Being in a big Clan and enjoying all the benefits it gives to you, i still stand to my proposal ! Thinking about every argument possible, i still believe its up to now the best idea for a compromise to the welfare of all: - big clans keep their well deserved advantage cause they captured, invested heavily in infrastructure and most importantly, constantly defend their home territory ! - smaller clans and solo Players who cant make it all to the friendlist, can use the benefits of Ports BUT have to pay their share when crafting good ships via the tax system ! ...and contribute to the effort of the owning clan by every ship they build there ---> this way Port Bonusses are no problem anymore and can stay like they are (or even increased again to their initial numbers) following Idea to bring the small clan/solo Players interests in line with the ones of bigger clans regarding PORT BONUS: 1. Whoever builts a Shipyard in a Port gets the Port Bonus 2. To give the clan which built up the Port Infrastructure a compensation for their hard work, the Clan Leader set up a CRAFTING TAX in the range of 10% - 100% of the crafting ingredients necessary to build a specific ship ! 3. In order to build a Ship, everyone not in clan or on its friend list, needs the usual amount of crafting materials + the CRAFTING TAX 4. Those excess crafting materials goes directly into the clan warehouse ! Problem solved ! 1. Small Clans and Solo Players can also craft themselves fine Ships without the need to get on the specific Clan Friend List (...and stay on there...) 2. Clans can get this way their immense investment back and/or can get help for further investments into the Ports infrastructure Cheers Edit (06.09.19): One argument not mentionend until this point in the discussion, just stroke my mind: If a change would come like suggested, ALL players in one nation would have again an incentive to take part in Port Battles eg. Screening because they want to defend their "own" Port, because they would loose all their mats already allocated in this Port and their upgraded Shipyard...same like the attacked Clan ! This means, NATION and Clans would get reunitated Nowadays, they take Part in Screening only because of national pride, but they risk either competitive ships bought from big clans for insane pricing or arent competitive in Screening because they take Part in non competitive Ships at all... ---> This would be again like it was 2 or 3 years ago when Ports had their distinctive advantages and the whole nation tried everything to defend the precious ones ! It was a NATIONAL task to defend and conquer those important regions...not just a task for a single clan...
  4. The 1v1 Zone in the Patrol Zone is empty most of the time, I go capture some AI 5th rates with mediums, throw on 15 hull, 15 rig, and 30 rum on my ship, with another AI capped 5th in fleet and sail into the 1v1 zone and call out my position in Global. My cost? a bit of time capping those frigates/belle poules/essex/surprise and putting med chasers. The cost to me is nil, because I get reps as loot from some from those ships. Yesterday I sailed over to the La Mona PVP zone and was able to get 2 1v1 battles. Hard fights both, I was ripping the guts out of my opponent, he in a Carro Trinc, me in a Majogany Blue Frigate I had capped, I messed up a tack and he got me, I sunk and told him I had reps on board to loot, and would be right back out in my fleet ship if he fancied a rematch. I do this everyday, people see me spamming global. It is a lot of fun when I get the fights, don't even care they come in with super duper ships with all the bonuses, I fight as hard as I can, and about 35% of the time my "trash ship" kills a supership. (Skill beats Gear). Great fun, cost me almost nothing, and I earn combat marks, had some adrenaline, laughed it up, and a blast with an opponent. Battle over I snap him a salute for his victory. Come back out, wash rinse repeat. I have suggestions, please hear them out because what people need is a reason to fight, have fun, risk getting sunk, maybe make some new friends, help build comradery amongst enemies. 1. ALL AI capped 6th and 5th rates, when you capture them, have 2 cycles of reps in hold for both hull, rig and 1 cycle rum, and all medium gun decks armed. 2. The 1v1 zone pop surrounding a free port example: Great Corn, Aves, Guaygauyagar, Shroud, La Mona, Tumbado, with the regular PVP zone in a larger concentric circle around that. Therefore you sail out of the 1v1 zone INTO the big fleet brawl zone. So -0- risk of getting ganked by a TryHard in a Wasa with you in a Frigate or 6 guys who "gotta smash HURR DURR MY XP(this happens all the time). Once out of the 1v1 circle, join your friends fleet and look for an enemy fleet to engage together. 3. At that PVP zone freetown, the shop will have unlimited 6th or 5th rate of the day, designated Admiralty PVP SHIP. This will be the same exact ship, with 2 choices of wood, either a bit more armour or speed. Make ship that when purchased for say 10K reales, comes fully armed and equipped with 2 cycles hull, rig and 1 cycle rum. To specify you would have a choice Between a Frigate that is Bermuda, or White Oak. You can sail that ship out to 1v1 someone else and the winner take all, but the loser actually loses very little, except a battle. In professional sports, the winner wins, and the loser loses, but the loser is not punished financially for losing, he does not have to go back to work grinding away to replace his losses... because he didn't win a contest, he still gets paid very well for being a sportsman, and fighting. Number 3 provides PVP for ALL, at almost no cost, they spend a tiny amount of coin and gain XP on ships, Damage XP to redeem combat marks for a shiny bauble or mod they want. They get smashed? They will say "No bother, this is fun, pop back in and try the faster ship this time, because I suck at tanking and want to try that thing with the sail in reverse to rake." The overarching goal of this game is for people to have fun, exciting battles of skill and daring, the perfect rake, learning to hog you gunports down the second your opponent is heeled too much and give him 12 leaks, the beauty of mastering a ship and playing the sails and wind like a violin, angling a broadside from a super carro trinc. There are ways to make this facet of the game easily and painlessly available to all. Having a few 1v1s against that captain of renown like Reverse, Greg, Le Raf Boom, Vernon Merril, Hethwill etc. will go along way to helping people realise the fear of losing should NOT be a motivator, it is the thrill of the fight.
  5. Hey, I was just curious to see how many of us would like NPC traders to engage and try to fight us in battle... the La Gross Venture for instance just runs away instead of fighting if it has a crew advantage... my suggestion is as follows... Lets have the NPC traders be aggressive until we "break" the moral of the crew by killing off say... 50% of their crew... then the trader tucks tail and runs... But until then the trader will fight … not unlike a warship... and will vie for position to get good shots off at their attackers. After all their guns are there to shoot with... Assuredly, these traders would fight to defend their freight. Please post any ideas you all may have I am interested to see what our forum thoughts are regarding this. P.S. I do understand that something like this was probably talked about before release.. but would it be too much content to add this? Three cheers for the frigates and their gallant Captains!
  6. Im already fed up with magic buff of NPCs, and this screenshot here will pretty much nail what i mean. NPC is having all the magic buffs in game, including the insane cannon arcs! Just take a look. That firing arc. I just wanted to do some good old coffee and shoot cannonballs to silly NPC. Nope they too stronk and cheating (Using buffs that players cant use). This is not elite NPC just regular 5rank mission NPC.
  7. I realize I am a solo player in an MMO game but I am not the only solo player here. solo players are in it for the Long Haul. The problem with a big groups coming into the game together is, that same big group will leave the game together. This does not happen with a solo player. I enjoy more freedom than any clan member (with the exception of clan leaders or those in the "Clump") the game is fun for me I have all the liberties and no responsibilities. Since I am a solo player in an MMO game I would like a Little Help from the devs As a solo player I have found fleet ships have been good asset, could definitely be better! Fleet ships need to be fixed The rear Admiral I give up a lot of perk points to be able to have two ships in Fleet. Without charge shot and other advantages I rely on the fleet ships. Also without a sailing partner I rely on the fleet ships * fix fleets to do what I say. They rarely do as ordered. it's bad enough they sail like they're drunk but I say to destroy they fire chain?? * make grapeshot an optional command * make boarding an optional command * have crafted mods be able to alter the Fleet ships * bring back end of battle Towing. Was an awesome feature that is greatly missed. If I already have two ships in fleet and capture ship I would like to have the choice to put that ship in my fleet or send it back to base. I would still be in the ocean and still be vulnerable for PVP so I don't see this as being detrimental to that. * switching ships at battles end and being able to setup my unlocked skills on that ship in battle screen
