  4. This is a comprehensive list of game scenarios, with linked info, aimed to help unfamiliar players make an image of the whole conflict. Work in Progress. My objective would be, separate the battles by date, and organize them by Theater.
  5. Recommend starting on Colonel Campaign, then scale the difficulty. There are very good tips in a couple of threads here. Search for the Artillerist guide, the Officers guide, the Infantry guide and the Army management posts. They would be extremely helpful! Welcome.
  6. Actually you can try to give the CivWar2.exe Windows98 Compatibility on Properties. Click Start and then Alt-Tab to Desktop and change Resolution again. I run on a Windows7.
  7. I own an original. An enhanced version was released in 2005. Civil War Generals II Songs <=== Music
  8. Just with the Maps we already have. But you could rearrange the rest?
  9. I'm working in a way to get the decimal values in semi-auto (the program will help, but expect manual work ahead). Not very promising, as the data is not in the exact same positions, but i'll try. Just changed the Icon and name as an experiment, they still wear sawed-offs, and fight akin to sawed-offs (close range). At the moment it is very difficult attempting to portray a Horse Arty, cause the unit should move like Cavalry, but shoot like arty. This would led to a completely different kind of unit, and they have plenty of code still unknown for us. Take in account, for example, that Cavalry unit minimum is 100 men but you want a range of 6pdr guns between 1-24. Also the shoot type should be changed, and a couple of things more, leading us to swampy zones of encrypted coding. For illustrative purposes... Dev's basically have a Database to support their game mechanics, which they merge on game Load, which we can't access for learning, and we are trying to change it letter by letter, byte by byte. Just because of the typos the task is overwhelming. That's the reason i ask for an Editing Tool. Edit: It would be easier to get those 6Pdrs Icon and change'em for a Horsed Arty 6Pdr Icon, make them look like Cavalry on map and move at Cavalry speed but react like arty. As we can't add weapons, we ought to substitute one of the guns.
  10. Why did them call Davis', Cobb's and Hampton's_Legion like that? From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobb's_Legion <<A "legion" consisted of a single integrated command, with individual components from the infantry, cavalry, and artillery. The concept of a multiple-branch unit was fine in theory, but never was a practical application for Civil War armies and, early in the war, the individual elements were assigned to other organizations. The Georgia Legion comprised seven infantry companies, four cavalry troops, and a single battery. >> (For the unfamiliar, Cavalry companies are called Troop. In other way, an Infantry Battalion, a Cavalry Battalion and an Arty Battery) Is this an equivalent of the later german Kampfgruppe? I like the idea very much. An All-Arms mixed "Brigade", deemed not practical (why not?). Is it better to mix components or concentrate them (historically vs. in game), Pros and Cons, anything to digress about...? Also... OMG!
  11. This is aimed to the Developers. Would you pay for an Editor, in a DLC format or whatever? I would. Thanks.
  12. My own opinion: Quite complicated to understand ans use. The Calc trick is easier. But appreciate anyway.
  13. "carbine_1862Richmont58"... (comes like that in the resources.assets file) "RichmonT"... OMG, coders... ... Take in account those pesky details when searching for names. Theres is a mistake in your spreadsheet. "carbine_SawedOff52" Icon should be "59 04". Tested. "07 43" is the Range. (If we screw with things like this all archive becomes crap and game won't Load, so please Double Check.) One crazy idea: You take carbine_SawedOff52 entries, replace them with gun_6pdr_Gun entries... some fudging... Voilà... you get Horse Artillery.
  14. Note it changes auto from Hex to Decimals. A group of 4 usually is for a reversed 4 byte Integer. For large numbers. Size of Boolean type is 1 byte(s) (1-0, YES-NO, TRUE-FALSE, ON-OFF, WHITE-BLACK...) Number of bits in a character: 8 Size of character types is 1 byte Signed char min: -128 max: 127 Unsigned char min: 0 max: 255 Default char is unsigned Size of short int types is 2 bytes Signed short min: -32768 max: 32767 Unsigned short min: 0 max: 65535 Size of int types is 4 bytes Signed int min: -2147483648 max: 2147483647 Unsigned int min: 0 max: 4294967295 Size of long int types is 4 bytes Signed long min: -2147483648 max: 2147483647 Unsigned long min: 0 max: 4294967295 Size of long long types is 8 bytes Signed long long min: -9223372036854775808 max: 9223372036854775807 Unsigned long long min: 0 max: 18446744073709551615 Note that int and long are the same size and if you want a 64 bit integer then you need to use long long (or unsigned long long). So if I change the value of My Spencers in my Inventory and use a 2 byte Integer I won't have a chance of putting a higher amount than 65535. Then use 4 byte Integer. Usually Money (or a large amount on things greater than 65535) is stored as 4 byte Integer. Shorter things like a 0-99 Max Inventory is stored as 1 byte (cause 255 can pretty house 0-99 numbers). 200 Range, 39 Damage and stats like that are stored in 1 byte (max number 255). So Damage, Accuracy, etc, is gonna be 1 byte (1 Hex cell) and Camp Cash probably 4 byte (4 Hex cells). Take Windows calculator, pick Programmer, tick Hexa option. Input C844. Tick Dec. Get 51268. C8 44 -> value is not 51268. Hex values are REVERSED. So again in the calulator, input 44 C8, Convert selecting Dec. 17608 (The real value of the address)

  16. Yes, Efficiency is related to the unit, not to the Lt. Col.
  17. Just copied in-game data to a spreadsheet. Lacks the "grey bar" stats. Feel free to use/add. Ultimate_General_Civil_War_Weapon_Charts.xlsm The Price$ Column is mistaken. I got the data from my Career Savegame. It comes with a reduction of price because of the Player Economy traits.
  18. As you can see I can make a Table finding names and addresses, and then change the Value cell. Also I can add more weapon addresses or make a Template chart if the data stays at the same offset distance from the Weapon Name. With this Template you search for a given name (i.e Napoleon) then apply the Offset to all addresses, and you get the Modified Napoleon Addresses Cells, and is just a matter of loading the Table and changing values, then Save. You can Edit the Data to be able to see it as Decimals (which makes more sense) or Hex values, even text. But I need to know the structure of the data to not randomly add the addresses to the table.
  19. @maojoejoe @Titan Uranus @JonnyH13 I need you to point me offsets or the cells/values I must find to make a table. I can see both Hex or Decimal. Are they 1 byte Integers or 2 bytes? Wiard Range: - I see {32 32 200 68} (i think 32's are blank spaces)
  20. The Order Of Battle often dictates how your reinforcements arrive.
  21. This is not accurate. You can right-click your supply to undeploy, but the Yellow Slots remain the same.
  22. Here is Command Rating Formula Calculation. It is finished. UPDATED Command_Rating_Formula_v.1.0.xlsm Usage: Fill in Leaders Xp and Chose the Rank from the List. Let's take Captain Rank as Rank 1, and Lt. General as Rank 7. As @Shigemori said... So Brigade Leader adds 10 per level whereas Division Leader adds only 5. But Shigemori was mistaken in a fact: Division Leaders DO add Command Rating on behalf of their Experience amount (but less than Brigade Leader). (((Division Officer's Rank less 1), multiplied by 5), plus (XP by 0,06)) + (((Brigade Officer's Rank less 1), multiplied by 10), plus (XP by 0,09)) <---- Each portion gets Rounded to get rid of decimals. =SUM(((C5-1)*5);(ROUND((B5*0,06);0));((E5-1)*10);(ROUND((D5*0,09);0))) in Excel, where... C5 is the Div Leader Rank cell and B5 its Xp amount. E5 is the Brig Leader Rank cell and D5 its Xp amount. Had to figure out the "less one" trick so not to add 1 level in excess of bonuses. Thanks to Shigemori who gave me the last clue.
  23. @Aetius Have you the vanilla spreadsheets for weapons? I was planning to add them to my own excel (with your permission & you would be credited), but it would cut me a lot of work. Thanks in advance. * Edit: Also some explanation about the spreadsheet's Column Headers would be much appreciated.
