  1. Being in a battle and having wind slowly veer, back, or both has screwed me over in several battles, and saved me in several. I personally think it adds depth to combat, because it is one more thing you have to pay attention to. I like it, although sometimes I reeeeeaaaally hate it, which in hindsight is a good thing. It has enabled an enemy to kite and escape, as well as ruin his plans to run away so I can finish him. But tweak it, wind doesn't change this fast except near storms, it is annoying to have it swing wildly back and forth like a politician's promises.
  2. In 1983 when I was 11, was hit by by a car, had some brain damage that caused me to lose my sight for several months, during this time time my dad would read a book to me. When I regained my sight I read Dune for myself, followed by the rest. Always try to use the same name in games.
  3. The Indiaman was reclassified as a 5th rate ship in some recent patch, so this is indeed some weird bug.
  4. You're going Prussian now? They are a strong nation... latch on I guess.
  5. You cap out at 50 for bonus, plus all the PVP marks for killing players without the yellow tag.
  6. I see the guy's point Greg, can't go to another part of the map if you can't find your port your 2K from. One suggestion for OP, leave an empty outpost for times like this, teleport into a close by port, make outpost and then TP somewhere else to DO something else.
  7. Hmm, 945 pm in Texas, [log on] Being a brit in PVP zone
  8. I'm going to continue to do the PVP zone missions on my terms. I try to get a group together to join me, but failing that I will sail out in an AI capped 5th rate and search for a battle. Sometimes I may get a 1v1 (awesome) sometimes it may be a 2v1 (exciting), sometimes I may find a battle that moderately favours one side, so I and join the weaker side (great too). I'm not taking anything larger than a 4th rate out, just don't see the point. But when I am in the zone and I start seeing nothing but a large, one sided gank fleet racking up kill after kill after kill because there is no opposing fleet in the zone, I will collect what bounty I have and move on to something else. I play for a challenge, that's why I will take a Trade Brig out in the shallows sometimes to fight against a heavy rattle. GB has so few active PVP'ers, and gank is the rule du jour after around 10pm CDT. I consider myself a decent PVP player, but there is a tipping point where a challenge becomes a no holds barred desperate challenge (which I enjoy) and then finally flops all the way over to "frack me, really?" Kinda burned out on the 3rd, so carry on WO and Blanc, you guys are masters of the PVP zone during that time, you have driven away all enemies, not out of skill, but of boredom.
  9. I prefer the Nassau zone for PVP, because I know even though it may be 6v1, you wont have 2 trincs, 3 Wasas and a Buc against your Essex. And when you do find that magical 1v1, it is against a similar strength ship. I actually had great fun fighting an American in his heavy rattle and almost had his structure to 0, until he finally capped my trader brig. Good fight Captain Mikey!
  10. Thanks for the advice Otto, remarkably helpful...
  11. We have a clan who takes in lots of new and returning players: we train, equip, and share work amongst every member. Everyone puts into the clan, weather it is mats, supplies or just labour hours. In turn we supply them with ships, cannons and repairs. ARMED has over 100 active members. Our warehouse was emptied and an officer quit the clan at the same time. We don't have a log for the warehouse available, which has caused the work of over 100 players to be stolen by one person. Is this the game the devs WANT? You guys keep telling us to help the new people for retention of players to make a vibrant OW, but with the lack of BASIC MMO TOOLS the long term work of over 100 people was wiped out. I would ask that the devs check the log and see who took the goods to return them, at least confirm who took them, or just give us a way to see who is removing items from the warehouse. I know this is not a priority, and the devs have said "give us more money and we will think about it" (sic), but the fact ONE person can destroy the long term work of so many without any tracking tools (available to us) is frustrating. Let us know who took it, help us return it, PM me about this... or just tell me tough luck, this game is an exercise in nihilism, where no one should support others.
  12. Please add a function where a clan officer can open the clan warehouse and craft a ship, instead of all the time wasting involved. I used to do crafting quite a bit, and enjoyed it. Now, I will gladly go through all the tedium to put things on a ship and play, searchbar point/slide/click to put things out of clan warehouse to my personal one. Some time later after treating carpal tunnel I build a ship for a clanmate. Being able to avoid all the useless searching in the clan warehouse for the mats and then putting it in my warehouse, building the ship, then putting the extras back in clan warehouse would help alleviate the tedium of crafting.
  13. Top of screen in port, redeemables tab. Select build of any boats. I would advise you do this in your nation's capital or where your clan warehouse is located. You very well might need to expand your docks and/or warehouse.
  14. My clan has made a concerted effort to recruit new or returning players to help them along the early learning period to prevent the drop out rate this game suffers. Being able to manage a clan with now 150+ members is essential. Thank you, wish you had said this earlier.
  15. The patrol area is in one location per day, regardless where you take the mission.
  16. Just realised Christendom hadn't posted the results of "Operation Octopussy" Well... Battle of Marsh Harbor, US attack GB: GB held the port. Battle of Le Descondidos, US attack GB: GB held the port. Battle of Isaac Rocks, GB held the port (I'm sorry don't remember what nation flipped that one) GB was stretched thin due to the number of coordinated attacks from Pirates, French and US, the ports to defend were chosen and we rallied for the defense. We had to avoid or fight our way through Pirates, Spanish, Prussian, French, Russian and US players Marsh Harbor had a full fleet of GB, about 3/4 fleet of US, good fight. Le Descondidos had a full fleet from both nations, both nations sent ships to outlying circles while the bulk of both fleets were in a long range standoff at B circle. GB was downwind of US, we sailed back and forth whilst US pulled up and fired at our sails for awhile. Eventually with the wind shifting we were trying to take the wind when a few GB players were cut off and set upon by the US fleet, as they were sending a few more ships to assist in the skirmishes of the other circles. Both main fleets then began a brawl that was hard fought with close calls and ships sank on both sides, although the attrition rate was heavier on the US side. As the timer was running down the US ships began falling faster, with the resultant domino effect. The outlying skirmishes were won by both small GB squads, the US reinforcements were stranded halfway due to the wind shift and could not return to the main fleet in time. Great, tense fight after the preliminary standoff for main fleets, small squads did a great job securing the other two circles and sinking the US ships. o7 to all captains in that battle. End result of operation "Pile on GB in the Bahamas" 8 ports flipped within two hours of each other, 3 ports abandoned, 2 lost, 3 defended... and another flipped by Prussia during the mayhem. If anyone has a screenshot, please post them.
  17. Will do, thanks for the tip, but this problem plagues every player, would be much better to just remove the problem
  18. Yeah, the slider is a separate issue that is a problem, but I am talking specifically about the long delay between doing an action and having to wait for the server to allow me to click OK that I did what I did so I know that I did it just to be sure... pointless.
  19. @admin @Ink @Sailor The server is in the EU, this give everyone outside of Europe extended ping. When we craft or sell or trade etc there is a window that pops up that basically states "You just did what you did, click OK to do anything else" This window is only useful in actually building a ship, the rest of the time everyone I know just clicks ok and moves on. The problem is this window may hang on the screen for 10-20 seconds before the [OK] button appears PER ACTION. Making iron ingots for the clan warehouse takes AGES as a result because verytime you craft some you wait until the server catches up so you can groan, click ok, then repeat. Please remove the window that we have to click ok, finding out what RNG ship we just built is the only use of this window, the rest is just a chore. Thank you
  20. Maybe it is an anti gank mechanism. US had more than 2X BR against the Swede.
  21. Last officer in your clan to log in before the merge has the stuff from the warehouse.
  22. Isn't the map mostly blue right now? Keep in mind the American players who stayed in the EU server simply because of pop size, coupled with the botched opening of the global server. My clan has several members from Europe, as well as Oceanic and American players. Calm down, let's see how it goes. If you are going to refuse to play against people from other time zones then just find a single player game and move on. This is directed at anybody in general. We will all be on the same server, welcome or not.
  23. George Town (In the Caymans) GB attacking, Pirates defending GB took the port GB came into the port with primarily a Buc fleet, while the Pirates chose to defend with mostly Wasas. Early in the battle the pirates found themselves with poor wind, while the bulk of GB waited until the closest fort could be taken while a small contingent went to take C. The pirates sent a small force to contest C while the main forces looked at each other through their spyglasses and took sniping shots. A n additional pirate Victory spawned in about the 20 minute mark and with A in firm pirate control the bulk of the defending fleet set out to smash the small British forces in C. The British commander decided to split our forces to help our hearty mates in C, whilst with the forts being dealt with by our mortar brig expert enabled the rest of the British fleet to capture A. A few pirates took the opportunity of a favourable wind shift to contest B from the small force left to hold it, so a few Bucs reversed course and sailed to buttress the defense of B. Circle C found the Brits outgunned and they made a retreat from C with the loss of one Brit captain in a pirate frigate. Over the next 20 minutes a few Pirate captains found themselves on the wrong end of relentless broadsides. Some with their ships on fire they attempted to fireship a Brit but were unsuccessful, other bravely kept shooting till they joined the crew of ole Davy Jones. One of the Pirate Victorys decided to escape mid battle, possibly deciding to spare his crew as he waved to his brothers. The game was deciding with points, overall the Pirates lost 4 Wasas, while the Brits lost one Pirate Frigate. Great fight to all in the battle, tip of the hat to both the winners and losers.
