PVP missions are good, we need more

Recommended Posts

There's a lot good about the PVP missions, but there's also a lot that's not fine with their current implementation. This isn't a call to remove PVP patrol missions, add more, expand on the mission aspect and make it a dynamic system not static.

ROE is iffy but current meta isn't really defined for that to matter so much. What are these missions suppose to be?

Colouseum ffa type, traveling circus PVP zones?

Or patrol missions that you pull against hostile nations to promote fight with said nation and insight PVP in areas close to these nations.

There is room for both, but that needs to be defined early on. Current meta i'd say these are colouseum type PVP zones, not patrol missions and I think you should go full take on that, then add in the patrol type missions that will likely be the mainstay of OW pvp, if not general OW hunting (same thing really)

I think somedays you should limit the BR that can participate. Like for example having a patrol that was 4th rates or worse would prevent a nation with a large sol fleet from dominating all day. Plus its ridiculously expensive to sail sols in patrols everytime its deep water.

Well if you're only doing missions for marks then yeah it's expensive. People throw away ships all the time in PBs because they're fighting for something important.

Current patrol missions are actually PVP zones, not missions but the foundation is now there for patrol missions. The meta speaks to this, any ship of any nation can join. It's meant to be a FFA not a pitted fight, so lets not treat it like that.

In my view:

The pvp zones can disrupt RVR due to ships sinking near ports make hostility.

Another zone should be added, probably near Aves.

Another type of mission: Complete 4/7 of the daily pvp missions. Rewards: 20 pvp marks and a random rare book/upgrade.

That's why they could be so effective is used right. If I as a clan leader could call a patrol for x port to not only disrupt shipping, but as a benefit for my players to go out and PVP and get rewards while at the same time playing a part in RVR then that's a full heckin feature that goes all the way around! Really so much can be done, from tunnage wars where damage counts, to a blockade mission where you sit in x zone for 10 minutes and you get small payout. If clan leaders/officer could use their own money or the clans money to "call" for one of these missions and put it where they desire, holy shit that's it. Just add mission variety and sailing around never gets boring. That's a top notch feature that i'd want to see in NA.

  • aves (antilles) zone is already on the list - it just did not drop yet
  • new zones will be added
  • BR limits will be introduced (each event will have its own to provide more variety)
  • New items will be added to admiralty (so dont sell your marks cheap/yet)

would you guys be ok if the patrol zone is not around the freetown? but is in the active area otherwise.. (like hat island or key west)

Yeah the the first event at Shourd, someone bought all the repair from the store and hyped the price. That's what I call entrepreneurship at its best (For him) but many players are not willing to pay 2 or 3k for a repair.

You know you could always get some one to bring them in and store them for your clan/nation?   We did this all the time on GLOBAL and still do it here when we get ready for battles.  Why depend on the market that over price things any way?

when you don't know when the next one is going to happen and those mission are new it's kind of difficult, of course with time we will have enough repairs for all the freetowns. For now we still have to shift resources. And since I don't have an alt I can't use it to move stuff while I play/fight.

You nation owns ports right next to two of the the zones, so how do you not have resources in that area?   Hell if Aves drops that means your nation prob has the best chance out of any of them to be at all them.   Here is a little hint, "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE AT ALL THEM."

Why not multiple patrol missions at a time... call them National Battles...  Might make this more accessible to all.   I imagine there are alot of players who can't be bothered to flip to the other side of the map for a gank, let alone newer players who may not have free town outposts yet.

Key west could be considered US vs Spain (though no need to lock anyone out)

As they are currently apart from LT and shroud I don't have outposts near the free towns nor do i have spares that I can relocate.

I tried to get to the PVP zone to make an outpost to participate from, but after an hour plus of sailing a noob attacked my trader lynx, when there were other warships sitting around doing nothing.  Can't even get there. :/

How can a noob intercept your tlynx in the first place?

BR limits can increase gradually. Lets say 800 for each side, when one side is full, close join. When both sides fill 800, increase BR to 1200 and so on ? So the action can continue non stop, no side will have major advantage at a given time. Of course these BR can change if it is shallow or deep.

* Or when according to shallow or deep, when difference is more than a set BR, close JOIN for powerful side.

* Please consider putting some PVE missions, attack Captain X in Santisima, BUC with the escort ships, make them real hard, OP, so they hurt. Let us attack 5-6-7-10 ships to NPC boss. It is also a coop content, people may do it in group, sure it will increase the total fun, addiction for carebears.

Well, big mega brawls not far from capital cities could also be fun.

Anyone who wastes their time attacking a t-lynx with a warship when they could instead be fighting other warships is a noob.

I think it's better if events launch in 2-3 places, otherwise you need many outposts to participate in them.

Having them close to a Freeport is really useful and more fair.

Close, but not too close.  Some of us gotta live out of the free ports.  ;)

It would be good for it to move around the map quite a bit, scheduled in advance, so everyone has a good chance at it and nobody's regular game gets impacted too much/regularly.

The PVP area should be marked on the map.

Yes,  that would be splendid. If at all possible it would be nice to have more than 1 patrol at a time, so if there is one in the bahamas, then put another in the lower antillies or deep in the gulf so everyone can take part every day. Some kind of balance limit is a must.  keep up the good work devs.

Patrol mission is successful partly because lot of people are in the same place.

Pretty much, that's all we need is some focused PVP, gently guided by the devs soft hands. Devs are the all encompassing admiralty and we are his instruments of war!
