Did you consider replacing the current Max.Shipyard Size line in the infobox on the right of the world screen in campaign with Shipbuilding Capacity?

The max size of a ship is only relevant while designing a ship. The current occupation of the shipyards on the other hand is something relevant when deciding on whether to build a ship for a minor ally. By switching this line out, we could see how much free capacity we have, while the decision box for selling ships is up.

The year is 1896. USSR launches a land invasion against AH (edit: which is me) from Ukraine to Hungary, which I try to counter by launching a naval invasion against Ukraine... And then I notice that there are over 400,000 troops stationed in Ukraine. Okay, a bit overkill from my point of view, but sure.

6 months pass, I lose the naval invasion, but I immediately launch a new one to keep the pressure on USSR and make them stay away from Hungary. And my troops seem to be doing a fine job, there are only 294,000 soldiers left in Ukraine... except are there? Three months into my second invasion, I decide to check on the operation, only to find that there are currently 632,408 soviet troops in Ukraine, which for comparison is more than entire French and German mainland armies combined. No other province on the map comes even close. What? Why? How?

Edit: it keeps growing! Next turn it's already 651,865 soviet soldiers in Ukraine. Is this a commie zombie apocalypse or what?

The army size will increase over time when a country is at war. The same applies to your army.

Yeah, but when fighting on two fronts I expect that not to be the case.
Also, I've successfully lost the second invasion now, and after almost reaching 700,000, the current number of soviet troops in Ukraine is 320,912 for some reason. Are losses due to Naval Invasions calculated only after they end?

I think the Germany army in WW2 reach  the peak in size in 1943, so two years after the beginning of the Barbarossa campaign. If I am not mistaken a similar situation happens with the American forces. However I don't have any source at the moment to back up my claim, so take with it grain of salt.

Okay, so I figured it out
When a naval invasion is launched, there's an insta-conscription, which can more than double the number of troops in a province (710k from less than 350k in this case)
After the invasion ends, the conscripts are immediately sent home
Which makes about zero sense to me
Also IDK if the losses are counted towards those 'summoned' soldiers or actual soldiers

Edit: on second thought, it's only fair that the defender has a clone army, when the landing force seems to also be a clone army, as I don't see myself losing any actual troops from any province except Hungary, which is under a land invasion

So it seems that the Austro-Hungarians continue to be something of an issue. New campaign as Germany, and I decided to go to war with them. Austria revolts and declares independence from the Empire, so there goes the direct route for conquering them. Take Croatia instead, and now the Austrians have nowhere to base their fleet again, as they lost Montenegro before the war even started. However, there's a problem in Pula.

If the port's mine, then everything in it should also be mine.
If there's enemy ships in a port, they should either be scuttled, or if that fails, captured by the invading troops.


BONUS: So I played 1 battle against the only other ship in the Austro-Hungarian Navy, a CA that was docked further South in another Croatian port, destroyed it, and then the game crashed on "Loading World."
Relaunched, attempted to load the save, crashed on "Loading World" again. Same thing when I tried to load again.
I'd also like to note that they were still building ships for their own navy. Where these ships would have spawned is somewhat of a mystery. This happened in my last campaign as well. Despite being at war with multiple powers during the 1940's, nobody could actually find and engage the Neither Austrian Nor Hungarian Navy. I had been at war for them for almost a decade when 1950 rolled around, and they never showed up on the horizon.

Ships should NEVER leave their formation to go the back of one that's following them.

I just lost yet another battleship because it got a little too much damage & decided to pull out of line to enter the following division of CLs that I was trying to bring into the fight from across the map without micromanagement. Even though I caught it immediately, it was already too late: out of formation, angled wrong, & giving up the chase vs the enemy battlecruiser that I'd just spend 45 IRL minutes chasing, it shows its bow to the foe in close quarters & gets destroyed.

When ships decide to change formation *without player input* they cross their own T with the enemy & get wrecked through the fore belt.

This "feature" has got to go. (or at least have a "hold formation" toggle)

Overall I had a rather pleasing  playtrough yesterday. Playing with Russia, legendary, 1900 start.  One small problem, it  immediately goes to 98.5 unrest so if ANYTHING happens in the first months your campaign  ends  in 1 semester.  Might be good to tone down that. That said, passing that  RNG  part  I am having MOSTLY combats that seem to work as I expected.

 

Things that still need improvement. AI must try to push for larger battleships when it is able to.. USA had in 1912... well 134 Battleship. YEs 134 battleships (and 140 destroyers, so no, not more BB than DD) armed with 9 inch guns. It makes absolutely no sense to make  that many battleships  instead of some 30-40 GOOD battleships.

Can  you post your ship? As I said I am having no problem with cruisers as targets anymore (ok here and there some  random shell is blocked but mostly are not). Yesterday a single dreadnought of mine  sunk 17 CA.

playing as the british 1910 suck ai has this magic aiming feature that allow them to hit my ships from 12km range meanwhile my british battleships with some of the best towers and rangefinders cant hit any thing and when i do hit they dont do any freeking damage please fix that

reduce to cruise speed.. and how well balanced is your ship? BC are fast so the effect of pitch and roll instability are vastly exarcebated.

I think there should be hot keys for a ships speed.  At the very least:

* Full Flank:  100% of the ships maximum speed.
* Max Cruise:  slowest designed maximum cruising speed in the division.  For example, I have a CL with G. Turbines so its cruising speed is 12.6 knots.
* All Stop:  0% Throttle.

Reverse engines can be argued, but there is already a UI element for that.  However, I would like the UI to be more obvious if a ships engines are in reverse or not.  It is sometimes hard to tell in the heat of battle.

The problem is the British Populations which is almost 22 Billion. Is this a nation that has dissolved and appeared again? Please clarify if you have edited the save maybe and caused immense growth to the nation so it caused this result?

We have received some reports from players who cheat on the saves and break the whole campaign.

Adding unlimited tonnage to their ships which makes the Battle AI to be afraid and want to leave (because it realizes it is ovewhelmed), adding cheat wealth to their nations or AI to pose a challenge, creating  complete imbalance of numbers or broken saves which crash etc.

There is no extra conscription but a different distribution. Army from other provinces is sent.

I have a few campaigns going. Since the 1.1.4 update, none of the saves will open. The game crashes when trying to open saved campaign games. I started a new one after the 1.1.4 update, and the issue persists. Is anyone else having this issue?

 

Edit: I found the saves are crashing whey they are "Loading World"
