Patch 9.93 - Bucentaure, acceleration rework and many other things

Awesome! One important request from me and many other players - please, please for the love of Zeus remove that chicken shed from the back of Bucentaure ship. Such beautiful lines unbalanced by a not needed box on the back of such beautiful ship.

 

Everything I find on the internet (with minimal looking mind you, 10 or so minutes), has the shed.

O.o thats the same as asking for them to remove the color red from Santisima O.o

its a feature :) it had this thing

but maybe the french line ship specialists can provide more info on this in the shipyard section by means of feedback ?)))

Was hoping for a new frigate also :/ Moderators spoiled us showing them of i guess. As for the imbalance, theres already mods (best of which cost quite a penny) and the general fact that a high level players will be sailing in a super frigate or a line ship, so i doubt officers make that much of a difference :P

 

More advanced players well established already have more advantages and a nice collection of upgrades accumulated, then can use SOL's to grind quickly the 35K XP in PVE and get more advantages on the top of this, players starting or in frigates or 4th rate need way longer times to grind the officer, not counting in this the players learning and doing errors ending in getting ships sank and arriving at M&C or Post Cpt level with only a couple of officer life's remaining, those having it the easiest way in game get it even more easy with all advantages some of the perks gives and how easier it is to get XP using Sol's in pve risk free missions... not logical to favor the highest ranked players and create such imbalance from my point of view.

 

And can only hope the Santa Cecilia will be there but forgot on patch list like they done a few times, pilled up parts and LH contracts last weeks for this ship and want to make at least 2 of them , one live oak for fights one fir wood for chases, both with speed and possibly one in oak for both tasks , was going to get make me a few of those and use them for a while as they fit my gameplay :/

 

After all Admin on previous announcement said " + of course new ships." so there is hope .

Looking forward to most of it but what still could lead to discussions is:

1. still only one Officer - that means usage of perks is still limited,

2. crew cost is still at 500 - covered a bit by two officer perks (see 1.) and

3. Surrender not possible when sinking or burning

I like it except for the surrender mechanics. When shall one surrender? When is the damage high enough for not taking water (sinking), but short before? How shall I know that, sometimes I have still some armour left, but the water is coming in.

 

I would prefer to have it like it is now. To give the opponent the chance to save the ship, he should have to board after surrendering and repair the sinking ship in a given time (maybe 2min). That would give him the time to get the ship, if he takes some effort and stops fighting the remaining battle, but he has to send the crew to take the price and has to leave a price crew. If not, the ship shall sink and is gone.

I just don't want to see chickens being blown up to pieces during the battle. :D  It's rather sad.

Auto-escape functionality when connection problem : Yes !

 

Leaks tunned : Yes !

 

Interesting new perks, new sotl waterline, improved sails animations, i think i will like this update.

 

I'm just not sure about no surrender when sinking or burning, surrender when sinking or burning should auto set your crew to survival and be considered a kill for you opponent if your ship sink before he leave the battle (you still save your captain and crew).

 

Too bad just the Buc' being added but that's nothing. Keep on the good work!

Honestly calling this a "content" patch is really stretching the definition of content.

Bucentaure isn't content?  I don't know what content is then.  How is xp for trading content?  It isn't.  Land in Port Battles takes time. 

 

Comments from #Seven is why most developers only give limited insight to their players.  But, thankfully, Game Labs is involved in the community.

could you please clarify if the Bucentaure is being dropped from any 3rd rate ship Bellona/ 3rd rate (bellona 74) or just from the bellona74?

well they said 3rd rates that includes 3rd+bellona (better chance) and Inger (less chance)

Isn't that a good thing? Your are forced to chose. Even addition of one more officer with no other changes (i.e. 10 points per officer) would create huge differences between players with and without officers, devaluing skill in what is supposed to be a skill-based game. It would also mean you get to stack things that currently (thankfully) cannot be stacked, e.g. Pirate (speed bonus) / pirate hunter (reload bonus) + master (speed / reload bonus).

If more officers are added, then they must draw from different perk pools, and have fewer perks per officer.

Land is being tested, but not live yet. Wait for testbed and you will be able to try it out. There are many things in development that devs keep in secret. Please don't get discouraged that easily. Development is moving.  :)

Things get delayed, stuff happens, what can you do about it? well not much and complaining certainly doesnt help.

Before building a house you have to set up foundation. Devs picked the right time to set up foundation for many important things that later will take shape. We all know that many people are traveling or sailing during summer time and have less time to play. 95% of content was delivered on time.

This is an Alpha and you agreed to treat it as such when you joined the game. Leave the attitude and accept that no plans are time-bound promises in Alpha development.

  • Surrender is no longer possible if you are sinking or on fire
Basically this means, once you are ganked you can turn to fight, resulting in little reward, a lost ship, a lost officer and loads of crew lost.

So what is your best option: run away for 30-45 minutes, then surrender. Preferably make them spend time as much as possible while taunting them. :P
