Allow trade ships as part of a player fleet

Recommended Posts

Now that (at long last) you can no longer teleport back to your capital with a hold full of cargo, it's time for the Developers to address trading.

Currently, trade ships are way too vulnerable.  If you are seen by an enemy warship, you will in all likelihood be captured.   Running away is futile, and self defense is likewise futile.

We need the ability to provide escort for trade ships.

Allow a person to put trade ships into his fleet.  That way, a captain can command a warship, and convoy his trade ships through hostile waters.

This would make trading more viable and more interesting.

i see your consurns

Mmm but thats where the game is all about ....!

i do agree you must have a option to defend yourself ,but thats should  be done by upgrades, cannons ,or  members of your clan

but not by AI.

i believe more development is  underway

play tactics and worthy value of cargo you can move that just seconds after upgrade :) ,or before

Yeah i like the idea of having Warships escorting and maybe even another trader hauling our good for a contract price on distance, i'm also thinking of now when we capture traders that we can use that trader to haul the goods back to an outpost and it spawns on OW after the battle with your name on theon it and you can either chose to follow it or risk letting in sail to the outpost without getting captured.

I am not arguing for your trade ships to be defended by the AI.     Your trade ships would be sailed by the AI, and you would defend them yourself with your own man of war.

You make the traders AI, not the escorts. The player is sailing the escort.

Trader AI is easy, run like hell and your best wind angle. Escape ASAP.

I'm in my Trinco and I have two loaded Trader Snows controlled by AI.

Get an escort, problem solved.

Get an Indianman, problem solved.

Sail a fully laden unarmed trader ship alone, then sorry, but you deserve everything you get.

Yes.     That would work.   or at least we should be able to hire like 2 npc mercs or belle poules or something to escort us instead of cutters.

I have an exceptional Indiaman and its not worth it as 1 consti can get me in battle and with the stupid 2 minute timer..all is lost.     No Indiaman was ever unescorted back in the days.     Please read these devs.

this is a very good idea and win win for everyone. The Devs need to focus on game aspects that make players happy while not breaking the game. This idea will allow traders to escort their own goods, they would have to sail anyways with current mechanics. It also will give a juicy target for PVPrs looking to attack something.

I also liked the idea someone posted for those of us who have limited time of hiring NPC ships to sail our goods for us. So if i buy goods in a far off port, i can pay a price to hire an npc trader snow to haul those goods to my designated port. what would be neat is if i can pay more money to hire npc escort. So my goods may or may not get to where i need it in the game, while i rush off to work in real life.

lets face it, players are going to keep getting richer and richer in this game. why not give them options to create their own NPC fleets for their own convenience. it does a job for that player, they pay for it, and creates many more juicy targets for pvp players. win win!

Yes and lock the game away from the privateer/pirate/Corsair sloops, schooners and brigs levels.

" Because by all seven seas, I shall take my Two Indiaman escorted by my Constitution and now I want to see that stupid Rattlesnake attack me again " syndrome.

*shrugs*

So the idea is to limit pirates to small ships, and I support it given our main activity is to attack trade,  and then you come up with this toilet seat ideas that kill the entire pyrate'thing of sailing sloop-privateers intercepting trade... c'mon guys we can do better than this.
