  1. The port timers in the Bahamas are brutal for North American players.
  2. What do you want? The devs to share their scrum board? This is a pretty big complex piece of software. My understanding is the dev team is quite small. I would also imagine there are ops issues that the players have very little visibility into unless things go horribly wrong. Some feature fixes are easy as tweaking parameters (penetration and such). Architectural features are much harder (revamping crafting) especially if you are trying to simultaneously support an active player base. Honestly I could not care less about the grey/blue port UI. That is the LAST thing they should be worrying about.
  3. Your "borders"? Or the borders of your oppressive, imperial empire? I can't find Spain on the game map at all.
  4. You make the traders AI, not the escorts. The player is sailing the escort. Trader AI is easy, run like hell and your best wind angle. Escape ASAP. I'm in my Trinco and I have two loaded Trader Snows controlled by AI.
  5. I think you are missing the point. If you think the game will sell well in the US (outside of China the largest Video Game market in the world) if new users from the US log in for the first time and see their native land squished then you're in for a surprise. The game needs a self balancing mechanism that where the better a faction is doing the harder it gets for that faction.
  6. Back when we could bring Snows along (pre EA) they were the bane of all fights. They got in the way. They rammed you. They shot you.
  7. The ability to do live fire training with basically zero risk or cost? The ability to teleport a half of a fleet to any outpost in seconds? When you join pirates you get to keep everything (with an ounce of planning)?
  8. I suspect that battle instance limits being based on number of ships and not BR is about keeping control of the number of database accesses per second. A cutter sailing around and fighting is probably hitting the databases nearly as hard as a first rate sailing around and fighting.
  9. Given the current state of things we need to play the pirate style now.
  10. Pagan Pete is my favorite pirate. Whenever he slips away in that privateer of his I wish him well.
  11. But SORRY is more important than the game.
  12. If you couldn't get ship and port info while flying it would solve 90% of the problem but keep the pano views (which I agree are awesome)
  13. Open world flying is stupid and should just go away. Basically every cutter has its own recce helo.
  14. Why would we do that? How would that be good for the game? How is chasing players from the game a good thing? The game is bigger than any stupid clan.
  15. You really do not get it. If you have an MMO where there is a "winner" than you have an MMO that dies. Pretty much the definition of having your "panties in a bunch". Ooooohhhhh, they hurt my feelings so I am going to piss in pool. Congrats on making the game worse.
  16. I wonder how many people who liked the game just won't be back? I don't know and don't care about the petty little bickering between SORRY and the American Council. I have no idea who the American Council "leadership" is or what exactly they lead. I'm not in a clan and I don't intend to join one because I got over jr high school politics a very long time ago. I do know that Lord Vicious getting his panties in a bunch about a few American players has basically wrecked the game for a whole lot of people who have nothing to do with the American Council. Congrats on your Pyrrhic victory.
  17. You may be right but it is moot point. If an MMO has long term winners and losers it dies. If an MMO is not balanced it will be short lived.
  18. An MMO that has mechanics that allow a faction to be exterminated 4 months after launch and a total wipe will be very short lived.
  19. That must be why it is called "operation clean sweep", because you're just looking for some PVP. That doesn't really pass the sniff test.
  20. I am sure they are. I assume they are computer scientists so the problem is very easy to explain via basic CS theory. Cost and complexity of running and scaling a big empire: In the real world O(n^2) In Naval Action O(1)
  21. Gladiator quote... Remember what happened to the Roman empire. It was destroyed from within by over expansion and hubris.
  22. What "leaders"? There is no organization with any actual authority or power. I'm an independent, I play with no clan. I play a few hours a day in the evenings US pacific time after work. Sometimes I team up with folks on an ad hoc basis. Tell me... What authority does the American council have over me? None whatsoever. What could they do to me if I defy them? Nothing. What could I do to "boot them out"? Nothing. So how exactly are they, or any coalition of clans that I am not a member of, considered "leadership"?
  23. The game really needs a mechanic where a personal spat and hurt feelings between two clans doesn't have the end result in the destruction of a faction. While that soothes the egos of those involved it detracts from the game as a whole.
