  1. Yeah, repair cooldown timer needs a drastic increase... this mechanic is garbage either way, 1 repair per battle was way better. Masts get glued back together, completely wasted hulls and destroyed cannons fixed entirely back up and crew men raised from the dead by the hundreds... can't get any more arcady. 1 small repair for hull was good and realistic ( holes stuffed / closed with spare planks ) as was repair sails for a limited amount once ( patched holes too ) and i can also see a small % of the max crew being "fixed" once per battle ( stopped bleeding etc. ) but the current mechanic is garbage... even if i lose the fight i can just kiss the magic sail repair fairy and fix my sails while running in a fast ship until the battle is over... battles are long enough and it is easy enough to get away - no need to make it even more so...
  2. What about giving xp / gold multipliers ( also ship knowledge ) for anything depending on how many players on your faction / nation are online? The less online compared to other nations the higher the percentage based bonus... This could also be applied to pvp battles... the higher the gap in BR between you and the enemy the higher multiplier for the lower side. This seems like a easy to implement fix to help balance pop and encourage fights...
  3. I like the changes / speed nerfs of the latest hotfix. Thank you for that. Some of the debuffs are too hard i think - gazelle 10% sailing crew for only 2% speed? Needs some tweaking i'd say or just remove it. But could you make copper plating craftable like other perm mods / refits, please? Or increase droprate drastically... RNG really bad...
  4. Everyone wants this but devs are all out of hello kittys to give about pirates...
  5. The game has always been a time sink and sucking your life away like nothing else but the grind is managable except for permanent upgrades ( like copper plating ). Yes, the start is a bit rough in basic cutter and all but if you join some clan you will get a sloop and some guns as starter, if the clan is any decent at all... once you ( or anyone in your clan / of your mates ) get a workshop and some production buildings, you're set to make some profit outside of missions and get guns dirt cheap. If you don't want to join a clan or play with mates then you can lone wolf but of course the grind is harder alone and it should be... what is really taking the piss is the rare permanent upgrades that you currently need to stay competitive in pvp, so at this point playing pvp, risking the ship and losing it every once in a while becomes unbearable for the average player... and if you don't use the speedmods etc. you won't have any success other than lagging behind some gank squad of plebs casual players, kicking some gank victim that is already done...
  6. I have them all except Art of ship handling. I have Art of cargo distribution but dont want to use it yet since i have the BP for ship handling and only need notes on rudder angles to complete it... I would like to carry a good deal of reps too, so whats the lighter variant you can suggest?
  7. Would be good for the ingame shop ( if they add one ) ...
  8. What is the best wood choice ( frame / planking ) for a solo pvp pirate frigate in the current meta? I was considering Teak/Bermuda but the debuff on crew resistance doesnt seem like a good idea on a ship that is prone to crew loss...
  9. Agree... No, it is about getting an actual reward... There are daily leaderboards now and the best pvp players are pretty well known anyways due to the small community... what else do we need? The game is so poorly balanced and OW fights are rarely equal on top anyways... i don't see what this epeen show off BR would add tbh...
  10. Pretty much this... i have no use for epeen measurement contests but paints on the other hand improve the game visually and give a option for customization on your ship which is sorely lacking at the moment...
  11. Can confirm... found one of your guys west of La Habana earlier today. Safe to say he didn't like the idea of a 1vs1 in surprises without his buddies as backup...
  12. This is exactly what i came to realize.... it is very similar with Renommeé and Surprise.... very poor balancing...
  13. Does the "sloped armour" on ships with round hulls like Renommeé and Belle Poule actually increase effective armor thickness depending on the impact angle? Also do shots only bounce when armour is too thick or also when impact angle is too high, no matter the thickness?
  14. You mentioned Muskets & Pistols and Boarding cannons. How viable are those really? How does it fare against marines if you don't have marines? Great guide by the way. +1
  15. Wouldn't go as far as calling the only means of customizing ships visually "frivolous". On the other hand I would call ships that have no place in the current meta "frivolous". But i agree in that i want the removed ships back too, because unlike the ones i listed they aren't useless and have a place in the meta...
  16. Well there are a few new players from the steam sale... some people even pay more than the NPC price for a ship with crew space instead of planking. Doesn't mean it is a ship worth sailing...
  17. Not sure when i saw a player sailing one the last time - and it even was a redeemable for everyone, which kind of speaks for itself? Pretty serious to be honest. Ship balance is rather bad and for some ships there are just more attractive alternatives. They removed some of the most popular ships so why would it be a big deal if they removed some ships barely anyone uses??? No need to get butthurt about it, tho... have fun with your pickle in pvp against mercs....
  18. If the paints were removed due to the engine limitations, why don't you remove some of the unpopular ships instead (Pickle, Navy Brig or 3rd rate) ?? I find it really weird that you removed rattlesnake and niagara instead of those anyways to be honest... Paints/skins are some of the very little actual content that adds to the game by making ships more unique and giving options for customization...
  19. Pretty much this... i don't like pirates having SOLs either but if you remove them for pirates you have to remove them from the conquest system, too. And of course give them something unique...
  20. The game is fairly playable solo, you just need to know how and it eats more time than ever... that's the problem in NA... no tutorials, no proper tooltips or any info for new players at all. But i understand your frustration... too much pve / boring mission grinding, especially for new players and you wont get on gear / upgrade level with hardcore players in zerg clans any time soon unless you quit your real life. The worst part of the game is that if you get your ship now as a noob you have to spend like 5-10x as much on top to upgrade it to at least decent level... it really is shitty game desgin, especially with the RNG drops and if i had just purchased the game and found out about this i would refund right away.
  21. Fireships could do with a slight buff since ships are 1 dura now...
  22. This is actually a good idea. Buying the Clan docks should be very expensive tho and upgrading it even more so... anything to take gold out of the pseudo economy is a good thing.
  23. ... when you have mechanics like the CM mark system added, it's hard to find another reason than this for it...
  24. Found this refit and it gives +8% turn, yard turn and sail rising speed. Is this worth putting on a pvp ship in the current speed mod stacking meta at all since it is a perm slot upgrade? How much could i sell it for?
