  1. Gotta love all the comments about how quick it will be. Let me guess, it will be "Over By Christmas" Or maybe "Five days or five weeks or five months, but it certainly isn't going to last any longer than that," ( said rumsfeld 15 years ago about iraq)
  2. I will join glorious voluntary forces of foreign idealists to defend best korea. Down will evil imperialist aggressors. btw the chinese are NOT building up their forces at the frontier and the big event announced by best korea is the opening of a new street. http://thediplomat.com/2016/03/why-china-north-korea-relations-cant-be-broken/ http://thediplomat.com/2016/03/is-north-korea-fighting-for-assad-in-syria/ http://thediplomat.com/countries/north-korea/ There is a lot of great articles on The Diplomat, i think that there is a limit of free articles you can read if you are not subscribed, but it is worth subscribing to, or you can just use a VPN ( such as PIA )
  3. That would result in battles where a mix of every nation would fight against a mix of every nation, including aussies vs aussies. And australia was not to become a nation for a while. As of the game timeframe Australia is a penal colony. Hell, sydney (where i worked for a while) was not founded till 1788. #protip if you travel down under and they ask if you have a criminal history, ask them if it is still a requirement to enter the country. P.S. Freaking love australia mate, one of the best countries i ever lived in. Miss the weather, the cockatoos, walabies, and the people.
  4. Sounds good, as to advantage of the CSA at start, there might be a question of game balance to take into account, but myself i have always prefered a lack of balance as in any war, and thus the choice between an easier game and a more challenging one and the feeling of changing tides of war.
  5. Just received the Greenwich Maritime Museum newsletter mentionning the Tall Ships Regatta ( UK ) Thursday 13–Sunday 16 April 2017 http://www.rmg.co.uk/see-do/tall-ships-regatta-april-2017

  7. doesn't that accumulate dust by having seriously positive air pressure? Isn't there any risk of electrostatic crap going on by using a carpet blower? I have an entoo pro case with a 200mm intake and a 140 exhaust, plus a cryorig r1 ultimate made of 140s on the cpu, i can game at 38 degrees celcius under load on average, works like a charm and i could never go back to a case that does not have a 200mm intake.
  8. I thought about like a tall masts event, why would you want the constitution to kill me.
  9. Not a single casualty if we don't count a canon that exploded by itself, causing 1 death and some injuries. I think i might have read that a cow was killed too but i may misremember and cannot find that online.
  10. Concerning the artillery i'd like to refer to this guy https://www.reddit.com/user/jschooltiger i recently found on reddit; More specificaly : "Fairly quickly" is a bit of a relative term. The English ships averaged a round about every hour or 1.5 hours; this is partly because their tactics were to close with the enemy ships, fire off all their guns, and then sail away to reload. (In other words, they did not anticipate the later tactic of continuous reloading during battle.) The Spanish ships averaged about one round a day. They did fire separately from boarding, but not frequently. Both navies reloaded over the side at the time, so the use of wheeled or non-wheeled carriages is a nonissue -- the English carriages used only two wheels, in any case, and those carriages were meant to help in training the guns around to fire forward.
  11. Guess she will show up sooner or later in somewhere i can finally see her
  12. Seriously? No httpS at login? Edited to add words so as not to be as rude: Please add an SSL cert to the site please, at the very least for the login form so as not to facilitate the intercepting of login details, it is a tad shocking to see someting so basic and essential lacking, thank you.
  13. I just had to google and sure enough there is "historical evidence" with "footage" of UFOs fighting in the battle of britain thought XD For the spanish armada the confident hope of a miracle is a good read. Thanks a lot for the mp3 sounds interesting ( pun intended ) btw I also recommed the collected Works of Elizabeth the 1st but be warned it's heavy going due to the language used.

  15. L'Hermione has captured the USS Mitcher and escorts its Prize.
  16. It might be useful to do some A/B testing to see whether population vs difficulty influences nation choice, and then use the one that encourages choosing the minors, if there is any difference whatsoever in the test results.
  17. https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/wiki/dailylife#wiki_piracy http://askhistorians.libsyn.com/askhistorians-podcast-016-golden-age-of-pirates /u/400-Rabbits moderates a discussion with /u/DavidAOP and /u/eternalkerri over the Golden Age of Pirates. Did a Pirate Code exist? What about pirate cities? What did pirates actually do all day and how did they go about finding booty for plunder? Just how common was being made to walk the plank? Why is EternalKerri so excited about keelhauling? All these topics and more get covered. Part 1 of 2. http://askhistorians.libsyn.com/askhistorians-podcast-016-golden-age-of-pirates-part-2 /u/DavidAOP and /u/EternalKerri continue their talk on all things piratical. This second of two parts focuses more on the meta-conversation of the study of pirates, their portrayals in popular media, their place as cultural icons, and, of course, that famous accent, before wrapping up with why and how this era came to an end.
  18. New topic since the existing ones focus solely on pirates https://csphistorical.com/2016/01/24/salt-pork-ships-biscuit-and-burgoo-sea-provisions-for-common-sailors-and-pirates-part-1/
  19. I recommend to check the following profile on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/wiki/profiles/jschooltiger another reddit user https://www.reddit.com/user/davidAOP has a lot on pirates
