  1. Do I sense a little sarcsam? But in that vein, let's bring back multi-dura too while we're at it. Only let's do it right this time, and make it at least 10. And upgrades don't sink either, of course. On a more serious note, I agree age of sail purists do tend to keep to themselves more often than not, IMHO. Or play on pve server.
  2. Nah, it's like politics. It's a popularity and resource contest. You know how the last [Democratic] governor got elected in this state? He had alleged mafia connections and was referred to as good looking. His politics were irrelevant. Women kept saying they'd vote for him because he was good looking. So the question here is @HachiRoku are you hot, and how powerful are your friends? That's all that matters. By the way, I voted no. You aint my friend and I also don't swing that way.
  3. We are testing. Competing too, but the purpose now is testing. This kind of stuff highlights the weaknesses of the gameplay, even if that wasn't the purpose of doing this. I wouldn't play this way but it's good that someone shows it can be done IMO. And just to clarify, I didn't accuse these players of cheating, I said I consider this to be a cheat. It's not disallowed currently ingame so it can't technically be called cheating. Hope that helps with what I posted.
  4. Personally I would like to see this thread placed in a tribunal. Not in any way to punish any of the posters here, for there are no current rules against this behavior, but instead to get a ruling by developers on whether any of this constitutes cheating in the game. My personal feeling is this is a cheat. But credit where credit is due, it's very creative stuff. If you really need to win that bad instead of just playing, more power to you.
  5. In my view, for players who choose not to cheat take an unfair advantage with alts spend a higher percentage of time for their character to gain assets. Same for solo players not creating assets as a role player for clan. If you have only a few hours a week, instead of a few hours a day, to play the game, your progress is also much slower. Decay will affect you more. If you choose to log in once a month, do you then have to use all your assets in one playing session? If you play 30 hours a week you can gather it, craft it, fit it, sail it, lose it, and recycle the process several times before any decay sets in. So just in my view, it affects the solo or casual much more.
  6. Poor suggestion. Effects casuals and solo players too drastically.
  7. Quoting cnet discussions...."Turns out, sugar takes the cake when it comes to extended shelf life. Granulated sugar can last up to two years in the pantry after opening. Technically, sugar never spoils. While it's recommended that granulated sugar be discarded after two years, chances are it will still serve its baking purpose even beyond that. The same guidelines apply to brown sugar and confectioner's or powdered sugar." Why should my sugar go bad? Should stay in my hold for at least 2 years. Cnet says so.
  8. I guess from my perspective I take the responsibility for the naval action. If I am trading and I am not in a group, then if I'm attacked then it's my own incompetence or bad luck maybe. At that point I personally don't expect the nation to save me, or revenge the other player. Guess that's why I don't care if they get away. My job was to avoid the hunter, if I made the mistake I should pay, not the hunter. Maybe that's a completely different thing though than the re-tag issue.
  9. I don't understand that comment at all. I am a trader and I've been caught only a couple times. It's not a problem for smart traders, and if I'm caught it won't matter anyway because I don't carry guns, so it's run if possible or surrender. So then......so what if they can't re-tag? How does it change that outcome? Or so what if someone else doesn't catch them? Who cares? It's nothing of an example compared to this constant retag griefing. But you are arguing for argument's sake it seems. Or do you have a suggestion for this? If not, criticizing others' suggestions is unhelpful.
  10. A lot of names on that list we don't see around any more.
  11. Retags should be prevented by game mechanics, and they should be for a few reasons: - Prevent griefing per the OP - Create an urgency to gain a good initial tag, and to learn how to do it right. You shouldn't get multiple chances to fix sloppy tags. - Battles should be decisive, i.e. you shouldn't get infinite chances to correct your mistakes just because you have a fleet with you. If you lost the battle or tagged horrible, then you need to just face you missed it this time. - Generates a need to implement better strategy rather than exploiting poor mechanics. Although right now we test. But speaking of future fix. I like the idea above of increasing invisible time a bit. Not excessive though to completely disappear, but make a re-tag very unlikely or extremely difficult. Also, some of the comments above in this thread highlight the reason why there are negative comments on Steam reviews about this community. And that's after I think some of these comments were even deleted.
  12. You forgot CS:GO and SE4. Fun, and in this game I trade, lol.
  13. I've never used either, I don't see the need. Must be just in the circles you run. Honest question, is there some advantage? I can't think of one.
  14. I have fallen asleep a couple times while sailing long distances, woke up and had no idea where I was (in the game ). Just used the trader tool to locate myself. There's no need for additional mapping tools, although some people may enjoy using them just for fun.
  15. True. A map reset now would encourage a 2 or 3-week surge in rvr, then back to the moldy bread. Unless something changes fundamentally with the game, the only way to defeat that cycle would be to go back to those suggestions many people have made for continual map resets, for example bimonthly or quarterly.
  16. I was against the server merger. I'm guessing the only reason they did it was to cure server numbers; well that worked, huh. Those issues you describe could never have been cured by adding a couple hundred players.....as is evident now. You are spot on.
  17. I won't disagree with you there. Still was a poor decision then, and it won't change anything now.
  18. If there was ever a time for a port reset it would've been when the servers were merged. And they said screw you to the Global players. So why should we have one now.
  19. To what end is this suggestion made? I don't see any "because..." in the suggestion. Personally I don't see any benefit to this rating suggestion. Sounds like you just want a better way to evaluate if you are safe in the OW. I read your suggestion a few times and I don't get the reasoning behind it. Would you mind completing the suggestion, with I want this because.....
  20. 90% of the time: The other 10%: Dunkin Donuts coffee. But...holiday season is coming, so I'm really excited about ratcheting it up a level or two........... +
  21. Would love to see refit options for other ships. Refits of our own choosings in the workshop,
  22. Wow, that's good story-tellin'. Not sure about all that Hethwill heroism, but good nonetheless. Long read, but that's what Saturdays are great for!
  23. Requin, and two clanmates with the same. Then brag on forum and defend it endlessly.
  24. @Cetric de Cornusiac good thread. Not sure if you've read any of the many similar previous suggestions on this or not, but I like the depth of your OP here. I'm like you and play on both servers, but play almost all pve when I play on Caribbean. Like you I still enjoy the choice to just totally relax and do my thing on pve server when I choose to; can still play with half-attention while the kids and family are all needy. Problem then becomes that the pve server offers just a little bit short of satisfactory experience, it does need a little bit more IMO, but in the light of a still non-threatening environment. If I want to enjoy the attack threat (and some of us pve type players still do enjoy the threat) then I go back and play on Caribbean. The only drawback I see to your suggestion is that people on pve server enjoy not having things taken from them, so those with shipyards or assets in capturable ports might wince at this suggestion. Kind of forces your hand to build shipyards and workshops and clan WH's and stock assets in only safe ports, and I see that as a drawback. How would you counter that?
