  1. Well peeps, after reading every single post on the entire thread, as well as seeing many of the same points being made across the forums, I have a few ideas I'd like to throw out there. 1. Elimate teleporting to free towns. I think we need to eliminate the ability to teleport to free towns. It kills the idea of "friendly" and "enemy" territory, and spreads the population of all the nations out considerably. Wouldn't it be more fun if there were some kind of "front line" where you knew there would be a lot of pvp? That front line would exist in areas where friendly ports are adjacent or near to enemy ports. Especially with the new port battle mechanics coming. 2. Re-Implement teleport cooldowns The whole no cool down teleport thing is bogus as it is. The fact that a giant fleet can port in from halfway across the map, wreak havoc on a bunch players, then leave, is beyond silly. It kills so much immersion . Adding a teleport cool down will also make pvp more predictable, and, if implemented with my other ideas, easier to find. Also, I think a HUGE part of this issue of SOME players hiding the the post battle screen stems from the fact that players can teleport without cool down. It's a main reason such large "revenge fleets" can even assemble so quickly in the first place! If we had the good old fashioned 4 hour or 8 hour cool down on the teleport, what are the chances that so many players would be able to assemble so quickly and wait outside a battle? I'd venture to say those numbers would be cut by massive amounts. Now, if a player was confident that there was little or no danger outside a battle, chances are they'd exit normally, and make all sail to get away from their attacker. 3. Make battle spawns closer Why in the world is defensive tagging a legit strategy in a game that strives to be somewhat realistic?? I'm sorry but if you have been caught by a superior enemy, you've been caught. You made a tactical mistake that got you in a situation in which you are in real danger! How to rid the game of defensive tagging? Make the battle spawns much, much closer. Spawns need to be within firing range of long chase guns, as the maximum. Why the heck are we starting a battle 3 KM away from the enemies?? It's so terrible when you KNOW you have the speed advanatage, only to watch the slow, lumbering ship disappear into thin air because of some magic, defensive tag. If the game is going to have OW compression, but have realistic speed in battles, the starting spawns need to be much closer to account for such. P.S. This whole idea of the "revenge fleet" is ridiculous. I play as a US national in the game. If a few Spaniards decide they want to go look for something to sink deep in my home waters, they better be ready for retaliation. Any sane friendlies would respond to the report of enemies! How can I be one of only a select few people that understand this??? If you are in any sort of danger from this so called "revenge fleet" you are patrolling the wrong area, it's called local superiority. Let's stop demonising players that want to protect their territory please. Please understand that for any one of these ideas to be effective, the other two should be considered! I'd love any feedback, so if you guys have ideas, feel free to type away. Cheers.
  2. I understand what you are saying, but the Bucentaur was just put into the game. You gotta give the tiny dev team a bit of time to work out the bugs! I was just stating that the BR system is mainly the dictator of PBs, and once it's dialed in, I think will work quite well.
  3. I think people seem to be forgetting that hostility levels can still be increased by PVE. Even if pvp battles in OW are limited to 6v6, the smaller nations will still succumb to the numbers superiority that the bigger nations brig to the table. If nation A devotes 100 players to go raise hostility levels at a port, and nation B can only muster 50, that still allows 50 players from nation A free to go ravage the AI in PVE. So, the "problem" you are presenting remains.
  4. The rating of a ship, whether it's a 1st rate or 5th, is pointless gents. the only thing that matters is the battle rating the devs give each ship. Battle ratings are on a per ship basis, if I'm not mistaken, not per ship class. All they need to do in order to balance ships is change the battle rating of each ship. Aleternativley, they could make some ships cheaper to produce than others. On the flip side, some ships underperformed, and others brought new design elements to the table that put them ahead of the competition. Not all ships were created equal!
  5. The devs have stated multiple times over the last few years that they want a decent amount of realism in the game. If you want to cruise at 40 knots and fire your guns every 6 seconds, go play Assasins Creed: Black Flag. Some of us enjoy immersion, not that ridiculous Call of Duty style gameplay. On another note, I think a lot of players wouldn't call 5-600 server population an "unplayable wasteland".
  6. It's not so much the fact that one player could be blockading a port, as it is the fact that they can tell their buddies that there are some traders in the area, and pow, 15 players teleport from 1500 miles away and pop out of port. Instead of actually taking the time to sail all the way to where the prey is, the players rely on a computer to..... solve that problem for them? Interesting isn't it? I think that players should only be able to teleport to their nations ports, not free ports in the middle of enemy waters.
  7. Well said m8. I have no doubts all of your suggestions will be added in due time. The devs have priorities on certain other aspects of the game though(damage models, economy, politics), so be patient!
  8. Though your opinion has much validity to it, I'm not so sure anyone needs to worry about the population of the game at this point. It's not even close to release, and many other aspects have yet to be dialed in first, all of which will likely affect the opinions of players.
  9. I agree 100 percent. The thought of a fleet of SOLs sailing from Plymouth to Mexico in 20 minutes makes me want to gag. Let's just put the mission closer to the shore for the PVE servers! Keep them the same for the PVP servers, hence the PVP name. There is a reason I don't play mainstream BS games like Call of Duty anymore. The silly looking, fast paced action takes so much immersion away. Immersion is why I play Naval Action! If we want instant battles people, let's go play World of Warships.
  10. Thank you!! If one goes sailing, wether it's for trading or pvp, they NEED TO KNOW THE AREA. In PVP1, the US controls Florida. If you are a Spanish player, and you decide it's a smart idea to sail up from Cuba to go cruise the coast of Florida, you better be ready! Those are ENEMY WATERS! What in the world are you going to expect?? In the age of sail, if a squadron of say, 3 frigates would come across a lone enemy vessel, they would most certainly attack it! That's called local superiority people. If you are being relentlessly attacked, you need to move to a different area. War isn't nice. Deal with it. This game is about realism, is it not? As for the battle entry timers, I feel that 2 minutes might be a bit short. Lets get them back to 5! Heck, I remember when they were much longer!
  11. Honesty, why cant we just put a 5 minute timer on the post battle screen, then all players get the boot into open world. If a vessel was caught off guard in the age of sail, and didn't want to fight, they didn't simply disappear. They ran away! Or tried at any rate. About a week ago, our nation got word that an enemy fleet hopped out f a free port and was attacking some local traders. So we gathered up a fleet as quickly as we could and chased them out to sea, only to have them "defensively tag" one of our players. The battle started with the enemies well outside our firing range. So, they were all able to escape the battle, and either logged off or remained in the post battle screen for at least 30 minutes, at which point we sailed back to port. So just like that, poof, a fleet of about 10-12 line ships vanish into thin air. The fact that an entire squadron of ships can teleport in, hunt a few traders, then disappear without any worry of losing ships is horrible for this amazing game. As for marking on a map where someone is in a post battle screen, maybe not. Instead of an exact area clearly marked on the map, I think a "zone" would be a bit better. Something along the lines of, "One of our frigates was engaged in combat yesterday, near the western Florida coast." Something that would be a bit more realistic, like an admiralty or captain getting actual Intel about recent fighting somewhere.
  12. Try again. Wasn't that long ago we only had one teleport to capital every 8 hours, and the population was wayyyyyy more than 100.
  13. That's pretty obvious at the moment. The debate is about wether or not the teleporting all over the globe thing is BS.
  14. I think it's more the insta porting that is the issue though. People would still be able to wait until an enemy left port, and follow them out of the green zone.
  15. Yeah exactly. I was fine with the 4 hour teleport. Maybe like Obi Heed said, and limit exiting port after teleporting to small ships or traders.
  16. Yeah, the free ports are kind of annoying. Sometimes it feels like they negate the whole, "territory" idea. Especially when a faction decides they want to teleport halfway across the globe, pop out in a giant fleet of SOLs, and go cause havoc deep in enemy waters. They never really cause too much damage, because we can quickly muster a force to defeat them, but it does significantly take away that glorious immersion I love so much. However, there does need to be some kind of shelter interspersed throughout the map for pirates. Not sure how exactly we could accomplish this.
  17. Agreed. Maybe make the "Rules" more accessible for people to find? So no more excuses from cheaters!
  18. Could you give me the link to the Gros Ventre?? If like to take a look at her!! Haven't heard of this ship before!
  19. As a pervious captan stated, this is due to over expansion. the Spaniards can retreat to the Yucatan area and base operations out of there. The US started with only a few ports! Let's not even talk about the poor Swedes! The countries aren't all going to have an equal number of players. Get over it please.
  20. I was thinking about suggesting the same thing a while back. It would allow for people actually have some say in national decisions.
  21. Would be so neat to have this lovely gilt in game! Hope you guys can find some more info on her.
  22. If I'm not mistaken she was initially loaded with 24pd longs on the gun deck but they were swapped due to poor sailing quality. No this is incorrect sorry m8s. The Constellation had the 24pd longs when she engaged the French Vessel L'Insurgente. Her captain decided that she heeled excessively and changed them.
